The New School is a private research university in New York City. It was founded in 1919 as The New School for Social Research with an original mission dedicated to academic freedom and intellectual inquiry and a home for progressive thinkers. Since then, the school has grown to house five divisions within the university. These include the Parsons School of Design, the Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, the College of Performing Arts, which includes the Mannes School of Music, The New School for Social Research, and the Schools of Public Engagement. In addition, the university maintains the Parsons Paris campus and has also launched or housed a range of institutions, such as the international research institute World Policy Institute, the Vera List Center for Art and Politics, the India China Institute, the Observatory on Latin America, and the Center for New York City Affairs. It is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity". Approximately 10,000 students are enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs and disciplines including design, music, fine arts, liberal arts, humanities, social sciences, architecture, drama, psychology, and public policy. The vast majority, over 70 percent of all students enrolled in university are in the creative areas of design, performing, and fine arts.

The New School for Social Research (NSSR), previously known as The University in Exile and The New School University, is a graduate-level educational division of The New School in New York City, United States. NSSR enrolls more than 1,000 students from the United States, as well as students from other countries.

The Schools of Public Engagement at The New School is one of five academic divisions that compose The New School, a private research university located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood in New York City. It includes the Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students, the Milano School of Policy, Management and Environment, the School of Media Studies, the Julien J. Studley Graduate Programs in International Affairs, and the Creative Writing Program.

College of Performing Arts, is part of The New School, New York City, NY. The New School announced its establishment in fall of 2015 as a major rebranding of certain arts schools the school had. The measure combining the music, jazz and drama schools into a College of Performing Arts.The New School also announced the relocation of most of the performing arts it ran to Arnhold Hall at 55 West 13th St., where the School of Jazz had occupied two floors since 1986.

59 West 12th Street is a residential building located in the Greenwich Village Historic District in Lower Manhattan, New York City, United States. It was built by the developer brothers Bing & Bing with noted architect Emery Roth whose other work includes The Beresford and The El Dorado. It was granted an occupancy license on August 7, 1931 and houses 101 condominium apartments.

Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, commonly referred to as Lang, is the seminar-style, undergraduate, liberal arts college of The New School. It is located on-campus in Greenwich Village in New York City on West 11th Street off 6th Avenue.

Grammar School No. 35, also known as the "Thirteenth Street School" or "Ward School No. 35" was a public school on 60 West Thirteenth Street in Manhattan, New York City. It was known as one of the largest and most prestigious public schools for boys in New York City.

Evolve USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that advocates for gun safety. In contrast to many groups involved in gun politics in the United States, Evolve focuses on individual, voluntary actions to prevent accidental shootings. It was founded in 2013, after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.In 2015 they ran an ad campaign that caught media attention for its humour, using "hilarious social faux pas to illustrate the danger of keeping guns in the house."

The Quad Cinema is New York City's first small four-screen multiplex theater. Located at 34 West 13th Street in Greenwich Village, it was opened by entrepreneur Maurice Kanbar, along with his younger brother Elliott S. Kanbar in October 1972. It has been described as "one of the oldest independent cinemas in the city" and "a vibrant center for art house films."

The Raymond Fogelman Social Sciences and Humanities Library is the flagship library of The New School university. It is located at 55 West 13th Street, in New York City's Greenwich Village.

School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School is the second conservatory of The New School university. It is located on West 13th Street in New York City's Greenwich Village neighborhood. It was known as The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music before it was rebranded as School of Jazz and Contemporary Music and becoming part of College of Performing Arts at The New School in 2016.

The General Winfield Scott House is a historic rowhouse at 24 West 12th Street in the Greenwich Village area of Lower Manhattan in New York City. Built in 1851–52, the house was home to General and unsuccessful Whig Presidential candidate Winfield Scott (1786–1866) from 1853 to 1855. Best known as the leader of the United States Army during the Mexican–American War, Scott had a significant effect on the Army for about half a century. The building was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973.
