Lednice

The Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape (also Lednice–Valtice Area or Lednice–Valtice Complex, Czech: Lednicko-valtický areál) is a cultural-natural landscape complex of 283.09 square kilometres (109.30 sq mi) in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It comprises the municipalities of Lednice, Valtice and Hlohovec, and the rural area of Břeclav. In 1996, the Lednice-Valtice Area was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List because of its unique mix of Baroque, Neolassical, and neo-Gothic architecture, and its history as a cultural landscape designed intentionally by a single family. It is adjacent to the Pálava Landscape Protected Area (Pálava Biosphere Reserve), a biosphere reserve registered by UNESCO several years before. The close proximity of two cultural landscapes protected by UNESCO is unique.

Hlohovec (German: Bischofswarth) is a municipality and village in Břeclav District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,300 inhabitants. Hlohovec is located within the Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Podivín (German: Kostel) is a town in Břeclav District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,000 inhabitants.

Přítluky (German: Prittlach) is a municipality and village in Břeclav District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 800 inhabitants.

Bulhary (until 1949 Pulgary; German: Pulgram) is a municipality and village in Břeclav District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 700 inhabitants. Bulhary is partly located within the Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ladná (until 1950 Lanštorf; German: Rampersdorf) is a municipality and village in Břeclav District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,300 inhabitants. Ladná lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) north of Břeclav, 48 km (30 mi) south-east of Brno, and 228 km (142 mi) south-east of Prague.

Valtice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈvalcɪtsɛ]; German: Feldsberg) is a town in Břeclav District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,600 inhabitants. It is known as part of Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone.

Poštorná is a municipal district located in the town of Břeclav, South Moravia, Czech Republic. Former football club SK Tatran Poštorná was based in the district.

Zimní stadion Břeclav (Břeclav city ice rink) is an arena in Břeclav, Czech Republic. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of HC Lvi Břeclav. It is also a perennial host of the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. Built in 1972, it has a capacity of 4,039.

Marika Gombitová (born September 12, 1956, in Turany nad Ondavou, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak singer-songwriter who began her career as a female vocalist in the band Modus in the late 1970s. Besides gaining fame for her subsequent solo career, she also became known as the victim of a single-vehicle collision on December 1, 1980, alleged to have been caused by reckless driving by Andrea B. Although she survived, Gombitová sustained irreparable injuries to her backbone and spinal cord and, as a result, is paralyzed from the 7th vertebral notch downwards, and was hence reliant on a wheelchair. After a six-month recovery, the physically disabled artist returned to the spotlight, achieving new top rankings on the music charts and even touring again. Few details of the Gombitová's car crash and its subsequent investigation have been made public and, therefore, the circumstances of the issue remain the subject of controversy.
