Darul Islam Islamic High School is a semi-private school based in Greenhaven, Athlone, Cape Town. The school was established in 1995, by the current Muslim Judicial Council president Sheikh Irafaan Abrahams.

Heideveld is a town or suburb in the Athlone part of Cape Town, South Africa. Heideveld got its name due to the fact that the area used to have large grazing grounds (or field which translates to "Veld" in Afrikaans) where a popular flower "Heide Blommetjie" was in abundance. The area used to be a dairy farm and cows used to graze amongst the Heide Blommetjies.

Gugulethu is a township in the Western Cape, South Africa and is 15 km from Cape Town. Its name is a contraction of igugu lethu, which is Xhosa for our pride. The township was established along with Nyanga in the 1960s.

Edith Stephens Wetland Park is a nature reserve for wetlands and fynbos, located in the city of Cape Town, South Africa. The park consists of a large seasonal wetland, with surrounding stretches of Cape Flats Sand Fynbos and Cape Flats Dune Strandveld vegetation. Seven Red Data plant species have been recorded here as well as nearly a hundred species of bird, several amphibians (including a population of endangered Western Leopard Toad), reptiles and mammals. The 39-hectare (96-acre) park was originally built around a smaller piece of land that was donated by the botanist Edith Stephens. She intended it to preserve the rare Isoetes capensis plant, which exists nowhere else on Earth. After subsequent additions to take it to its present size, the resulting park was named after her. The park is run by the City of Cape Town in partnership with the local community. It now has an Environmental Education Centre, boardwalk trails, a picnic area, a bird hide and a garden of medicinal plants.

Crystal Secondary School is a school in the Western Cape. Crystal Secondary School was founded in 1972 and named after the daughter of its first principal, the late C. R. Fortuin. Its motto is Facta Non Verba (Deeds Not Words). According to the school's website, "[d]uring the 70’s the learners of this school were in the forefront of the struggle."

Mzoli's was a butchery in Gugulethu, a township on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa. Since Mzoli's opened in early 2003, the restaurant had become a popular gathering spot for Cape Town residents and a tourist attraction. Amongst Gugulethu's residents, Mzoli's Place has a reputation for public drunkenness and disrespect for the local community. Mzoli's is named after the founder and owner, Mzoli Ngcawuzele. The restaurant closed indefinitely in May 2021 partly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hanover Park is a neighborhood of the City of Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa In February 1980 the neighborhood was the starting point of a national prolonged school boycott in protest of apartheid laws and policies. The Brown's Farm area is a neighborhood located within the Philippi area of Cape Town's Cape Flats region, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The urban area is densely populated and contains many informal homes. The 2011 national census recorded 71,518 residents living in the area.

The Gugulethu massacre was a mass shooting which occurred on the afternoon of 2 November 2020. It took place in a house in NY78, Gugulethu, Cape Town, South Africa and resulted in the death of eight people between the ages of 30 and 50 years old. One additional victim was injured in the shooting. Seven of the nine victims died on scene (3 women and 4 men) whilst an eighth victim died later in hospital.Local residents reported to the media that the shooting was related to a gang conflict between the Guptas and the Boko Haram street gangs. Other reports by local residents indicated that the killing was conducted by the Boko Haram gang targeting a local woman, killed on scene, who refused to pay extortion money to the gang. Whilst the Gugulethu Development Forum stated that the killings were "drug-related."

Mount View Secondary School is a school in the Western Cape. It was opened in 1976. The school was built in response to the need for a further Secondary school in Verulam. The present enrollment is 1 200 with 43 educators.
