Gugulethu is a township in the Western Cape, South Africa and is 15 km from Cape Town. Its name is a contraction of igugu lethu, which is Xhosa for our pride. The township was established along with Nyanga in the 1960s.

The Gugulethu massacre was a mass shooting which occurred on the afternoon of 2 November 2020. It took place in a house in NY78, Gugulethu, Cape Town, South Africa and resulted in the death of eight people between the ages of 30 and 50 years old. One additional victim was injured in the shooting. Seven of the nine victims died on scene (3 women and 4 men) whilst an eighth victim died later in hospital.Local residents reported to the media that the shooting was related to a gang conflict between the Guptas and the Boko Haram street gangs. Other reports by local residents indicated that the killing was conducted by the Boko Haram gang targeting a local woman, killed on scene, who refused to pay extortion money to the gang. Whilst the Gugulethu Development Forum stated that the killings were "drug-related."

Crossroads is a high-density township in the Western Cape, South Africa. It is situated near Cape Town International Airport and borders Nyanga, Philippi, Heideveld, Gugulethu and Mitchells Plain. Crossroads is one of greater Cape Town's largest townships.

Nyanga is a township in the Western Cape, South Africa. Its name in Xhosa means "moon" and it is one of the oldest black townships in Cape Town. It was established as a result of the migrant labour system. In 1948 black migrants were forced to settle in Nyanga as Langa had become too small. Nyanga was one of the poorest places in Cape Town and is still is one of the most dangerous parts of Cape Town. In 2001 its unemployment rate was estimated at being approximately 56% and HIV/AIDS is a huge community issue. Nyanga is situated 20 km (12 mi) from Cape Town along the N2 highway, close to the Cape Town International Airport and next to the townships of Gugulethu and Crossroads.

Heideveld Secondary School is a school in Cape Town, Western Cape, in a suburb called Heideveld in South Africa. The school is considered to be a widely known school due to location next to a city main road and train tracks and also one of the first e-Learning school's in the Western Cape. The education system mostly focuses on academics providing both practical and theoretical studies. The secondary school also has clubs one can join from sports, art, musical, tech and other departments from hiking and debating. Manenberg is a township of Cape Town, South Africa, that was created by the apartheid government for low-income Coloured families in the Cape Flats in 1966 as a result of the forced removal campaign by the National Party. It has an estimated population of 52,000 residents. The area consists of rows of semi-detached houses and project-like flats, known as "korre". The township is located about 20 km away from the city centre of Cape Town. It is separated from neighbouring Nyanga and Gugulethu townships by a railway line to the east and from Hanover Park by the Sand Industria industrial park to the west and Heideveld to the north. The northern part of Manenberg has wealthy people that are mostly Muslims. The rest of Manenberg has poor people that are mostly associated with Christianity.

Heideveld is a town or suburb in the Athlone part of Cape Town, South Africa. Heideveld got its name due to the fact that the area used to have large grazing grounds (or field which translates to "Veld" in Afrikaans) where a popular flower "Heide Blommetjie" was in abundance. The area used to be a dairy farm and cows used to graze amongst the Heide Blommetjies.

The Brown's Farm area is a neighborhood located within the Philippi area of Cape Town's Cape Flats region, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The urban area is densely populated and contains many informal homes. The 2011 national census recorded 71,518 residents living in the area.

Bishop Lavis is a suburb of Cape Town, located 15 kilometres (9 mi) east of the city centre near Cape Town International Airport. It had, as of 2001, a population of 44,419 people, of whom 97% described themselves as Coloured, and 90% spoke Afrikaans while 9% spoke English. The official 2011 census gave the population figure as 26,482.Bishop Lavis is one of many townships that was established in the Western Cape Province by the country's reigning regime at the introduction of apartheid in South Africa. During this period non-white citizens were moved from their lands and homes across the region (because it was abruptly designated for "whites only"), into these townships.
