Dharavi

Sion (/ˈsaːjən/; IAST: Śīv [ʃiːʋ]) is a neighbourhood of Mumbai. In the 17th century the village formed the boundary between Mumbai and Salsette Island. The British named it marking the end of the city. The name remained even after Mumbai was joined to the Salsette and extended up to Mulund. One of the local historical places in Sion is a hilltop garden commonly known as Sion Fort or Sheevon Killa in the Marathi language.

Dharavi Assembly constituency is one of the ten constituencies of Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha located in the Mumbai City district. It is a part of the Mumbai South Central (Lok Sabha constituency) along with five other assembly constituencies, viz Sion Koliwada, Wadala, Mahim, from Mumbai City district and Chembur and Anushakti Nagar from Mumbai Suburban district.

Shiv Shikshan Sanstha's English Medium School, located in Sion, Mumbai, sister concern of D.S High School, Sion, Mumbai, which is India's one of the oldest school in Mumbai. The school was founded as a primary school, and became a Secondary school. A majority of students at the school have been Hindus. Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel & Shrine of St. Anthony former Our Lady of Good Counsel Church initially known by its name in Portuguese, Nossa Senhora de Bom Concelho, is one of the oldest churches in, Bombay built by the Portuguese Franciscans. It was built at Sion and was initially affiliated to the St. Michael's Church at Mahim in 1596. The artistically done stained glass windows of the Church portray the martyrdom of Blessed Thomas of Tolentino, Fr. James of Padua, Fr. Peter of Siena, a Cleric and Br. Demetrius of Tiflis at Thane, in April 1321.

Mahim Junction ([maːɦiːm]; station code: MM) is a railway station on the Western line and Harbour Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. It serves the suburb of Mahim.

Ayurved College Sion (also known as Sion Ayurved) is an ayurvedic educational institute run by Ayurvidya Prasarak Mandal, situated beside Sion railway station in Mumbai. The college was founded in 1954. Among the former students is Madhav Sane, founder of ayurvedic clinic chain Madhavbaug Clinics . Each year the college organizes an annual event called Sheevmanthan.

Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital is a full-fledged Government medical college located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The college imparts the degree Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). It is recognised by the Medical Council of India. This is one of the oldest medical colleges in Mumbai. Lokmanya Tilak municipal medical college hospital is also locally known as Sion Hospital.

S.I.E.S. High School, Matunga (Mumbai) is one of Mumbai's oldest and premier educational institutions. The Sion Hillock Fort is a fort in Mumbai (Bombay), India. It was built under the regime of the English East India Company, between 1669 and 1677, atop a conical hillock when Gerard Aungier was the Governor of Bombay. It was notified in 1925 as a Grade I Heritage structure. When it was built, the fort marked the boundary between British-held Parel island and the Portuguese held Salsette Island that lay to the north across the creek.The hillock is situated 500 metres from the Sion railway station. At the base of the hill is the Mumbai Circle office of the Archaeological Survey of India, and a garden – the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyan. Nearby forts include the Riwa Fort and Sewri Fort. The fort is dilapidated and a collection of broken stone steps, scattered walls and ruins, overrun by trees and ground cover. The fort wall has a small room on top. A series of pathways lead to it. The fort offers a panoramic view, overlooking the salt pans in the Thane Creek. However vandalism and apathy have taken their toll on the structure. Restoration of the fort had begun in 2009 but was stopped mid-way due to paucity of funds.
