Donington Castle

Monsters of Rock is a hard rock and heavy metal music festival. It was originally held annually in Castle Donington, England, from 1980 to 1996, taking place every year except 1989 and 1993. It later branched into other locations such as the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the United States, and the Soviet Union.

Bishop Street Methodist Chapel, also known as the Wesleyan Chapel, is church overlooking Town Hall Square in Leicester, England, U.K.The chapel was built in 1815 as a Methodist chapel. in the Georgian Neo-Classical style by the architect and Methodist minister Reverend William Jenkins (1763-1844). The organ in the chapel predates the chapel itself by over 100 years, the organ case by “Father” Smith, organ builder to Charles II.It is a Grade II listed building (1074061) on the National Heritage List for England, added in 1950 as Wesleyan Chapel, Bishop Street. It part of collection of listed buildings on Bishop Street around Town Hall Square comprising Leicester Town Hall, Fountain and War Memorial, 7–9, Every Street and Nos 6–8, The Royal Hotel, Nos 17, 19 and 21 Horsefair Street.

East Midlands Airport (IATA: EMA, ICAO: EGNX) is an international airport in the East Midlands of England, close to Castle Donington in northwestern Leicestershire, between Loughborough (10 miles (16 km)), Derby (12.5 miles (20 km)) and Nottingham (14 miles (23 km)); Leicester is (20 miles (32 km)) to the south and Lincoln (43 miles (69 km)) northeast. It serves the majority of the East Midlands region consisting of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Southern Lincolnshire, Rutland and Derbyshire. The airfield was originally built as a Royal Air Force station known as RAF Castle Donington in 1943, before being redeveloped as a civilian airport in 1965. Cavendish Bridge is a bridge over the River Trent, connecting the counties of Leicestershire and Derbyshire; it is also the name of a hamlet on the Leicestershire side of the river within the Castle Donington parish. This bridge once carried the main London-Manchester turnpike, though the modern A6/A50 dual carriageway has now been built to the south bypassing the crossing.

Castle Donington Power Station was a coal-fired power station situated on the River Trent near Castle Donington, Leicestershire, 5 miles (8.0 km) south-east of Derby. Construction began in 1951, and the station opened in 1958.

Lockington-Hemington is a civil parish in the North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England. The parish includes the villages of Hemington and Lockington. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 556, rising to 838 at the 2011 census.Although there isn't a rail station in the village, East Midlands Parkway opened early in 2008 at Ratcliffe-on-Soar providing links on the Midland Main Line. The western half of the East Midlands Gateway freight terminal, and a part of East Midlands Airport, lie in the southern part of the civil parish.

Diseworth is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Long Whatton and Diseworth, in the North West Leicestershire district, in the English county of Leicestershire. It is south of East Midlands Airport and off Junction 23A of the M1 motorway. A village of some 670 residents, it is located 14 km to the north-west of Loughborough and 2.5 km to the south-east of Castle Donington. The settlement is in the civil parish of Long Whatton and Diseworth, and lies within an undulating agricultural landscape and occupies a shallow valley created by the Diseworth Brook as it flows eastwards before becoming Long Whatton Brook and proceeding to its confluence with the River Soar. The four principal streets of the village - Grimes Gate, Hall Gate, Clements Gate and Lady Gate - meet at The Cross; a staggered crossroads close to the Church of St Michael's and All Angels. Page Lane runs parallel to Lady Gate. The Green running along the southern edge of the settlement gives access into Hall Gate - via The Bowley -and into Lady Gate. Diseworth Brook flows to the south of Hall Gate and is joined by tributaries to the east of Shakespear Close and near Town End. The famous astrologer and occultist, William Lilly was born in Diseworth on 1 May 1602.
