Castle Donington is a market town and civil parish in Leicestershire, England, on the edge of the National Forest and close to East Midlands Airport.

Donington Castle was in the village of Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England to the north of East Midlands Airport (grid reference SK448276). This early 12th-century castle was held by the de Lacy family. It was attacked around the time of Magna Carta. In 1311 it passed to Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, the cousin of Edward II and eventually become Crown property. Any remains have now been incorporated into Donington House.

Bishop Street Methodist Chapel, also known as the Wesleyan Chapel, is church overlooking Town Hall Square in Leicester, England, U.K.The chapel was built in 1815 as a Methodist chapel. in the Georgian Neo-Classical style by the architect and Methodist minister Reverend William Jenkins (1763-1844). The organ in the chapel predates the chapel itself by over 100 years, the organ case by “Father” Smith, organ builder to Charles II.It is a Grade II listed building (1074061) on the National Heritage List for England, added in 1950 as Wesleyan Chapel, Bishop Street. It part of collection of listed buildings on Bishop Street around Town Hall Square comprising Leicester Town Hall, Fountain and War Memorial, 7–9, Every Street and Nos 6–8, The Royal Hotel, Nos 17, 19 and 21 Horsefair Street.

East Midlands Airport (IATA: EMA, ICAO: EGNX) is an international airport in the East Midlands of England, close to Castle Donington in northwestern Leicestershire, between Loughborough (10 miles (16 km)), Derby (12.5 miles (20 km)) and Nottingham (14 miles (23 km)); Leicester is (20 miles (32 km)) to the south and Lincoln (43 miles (69 km)) northeast. It serves the majority of the East Midlands region consisting of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Southern Lincolnshire, Rutland and Derbyshire. Cavendish Bridge is a bridge over the River Trent, connecting the counties of Leicestershire and Derbyshire; it is also the name of a hamlet on the Leicestershire side of the river within the Castle Donington parish. This bridge once carried the main London-Manchester turnpike, though the modern A6/A50 dual carriageway has now been built to the south bypassing the crossing.

Castle Donington Power Station was a coal-fired power station situated on the River Trent near Castle Donington, Leicestershire, 5 miles (8.0 km) south-east of Derby. Construction began in 1951, and the station opened in 1958.

Lockington-Hemington is a civil parish in the North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England. The parish includes the villages of Hemington and Lockington. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 556, rising to 838 at the 2011 census.Although there isn't a rail station in the village, East Midlands Parkway opened early in 2008 at Ratcliffe-on-Soar providing links on the Midland Main Line. The western half of the East Midlands Gateway freight terminal, and a part of East Midlands Airport, lie in the southern part of the civil parish.

Shardlow Hall was a school in Shardlow, a village seven miles south of Derby in the English Midlands. It was founded by B.O.Corbett, who had played football for England, as a preparatory school for boys. One of its notable students was John Harris, who wrote under the name John Wyndham.
