Hunter station (New York Central Railroad)

Hunter is a village in Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 429 at the 2020 census. The village is in the northwestern part of the town of Hunter on New York State Route 23A.

IOOF Hall, also known as Lockwood Lodge No. 653, is a historic Independent Order of Odd Fellows building located at Hunter in Greene County, New York. It was built in 1917 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-by-six-bay, wood-frame gable-roofed structure. It was used as a fraternal hall until the late 20th century.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Hunter Synagogue is a historic Jewish synagogue on Main Street in Hunter, Greene County, New York. It was constructed between 1909 and 1914 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-by-seven-bay, Queen Anne–inspired building. Also on the property is a shed built about 1910.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Harry Fischel House, also known as Fairlawn, is a historic home located at Hunter in Greene County, New York. It was built about 1840 and substantially enlarged in 1904. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-by-two-bay, Queen Anne–style dwelling with a 2-story, eight-by-one-bay rear wing. It features a 2-story, engaged corner tower and single-story verandah.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Hunter is a town located in Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 3,035 at the time of the 2020 census. The town contains two villages, one named Hunter on the west, and the second called Tannersville, as well as a number of hamlets such as Haines Falls, Platte Clove, Lanesville and Edgewood. Additionally, there are three residential parks location within town limits: Onteora Park, Twilight Park and Elka Park. The town is on the southern border of Greene County and abuts the towns of Woodstock and Saugerties, located in Ulster County.

Colonels Chair is a mountain located in Greene County, New York southwest of Hunter, New York. Located south is Hunter Mountain and to the west is Rusk Mountain. Colonels Chair drains north into Schoharie Creek via Taylor Hollow and Shanty Hollow.

St. Mary's of the Mountain Church was an historic Roman Catholic church on New York State Route 23A in Hunter, Greene County, New York. The church was completed in 1839 and is a one-story, four by two bay, post and beam frame structure on a modern concrete foundation. It features a moderately pitched gable roof, narrow clapboard sheathing, two engaged corner towers, and a Romanesque style engaged entry / bell tower. Also on the property is the parish cemetery.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.It was razed on 04/12/2017.

Camp Jened was a summer camp for disabled people in the state of New York that became a springboard for the disability rights movement and independent living movement in the United States. Many campers and counselors (also known as "Jenedians") became disability rights activists, such as Judith Heumann, James LeBrecht, and Bobbi Linn.

East Jewett Range is a mountain in Greene County, New York. It is located in the Catskill Mountains west-southwest of Maplecrest. Van Loan Hill is located north, and Onteora Mountain is located east-southeast of East Jewett Range.

Hunter Mountain is in the towns of Hunter and Lexington, just south of the village of Hunter, in Greene County, New York, United States. At approximately 4,040 feet (1,231 m) in elevation, it is the highest peak in the county and the second-highest peak in the Catskill Mountains. While the mountain is closely associated with the eponymous ski area built around the Colonel's Chair ridge at the mountain's northwest corner, that takes up only a small portion of the mountain. The actual summit, some distance from the ski area, is graced with a fire lookout tower, the highest in the state and second-highest in the Northeast. The former road to it is open to hikers, horses (and possibly mountain bikers in the future). It is the most popular route to the mountain's summit.

The Hunter Mountain Fire Tower is located on the summit of the eponymous mountain, second highest of the Catskill Mountains in the U.S. state of New York. It was the first of 23 fire lookout towers built by the state in the region, and the next-to-last of the five still standing to be abandoned. Today it remains a popular attraction for hikers climbing the mountain. After it fell into disrepair in the 1990s and was recommended for removal by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), which had operated the tower, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. Local enthusiasts were able to raise money, matched by DEC, to restore the tower and adjacent observer's cabin to serve as a museum, with volunteers in the cab on some weekends. Panoramic views of not only the mountains but the adjacent Hudson Valley, Massachusetts, Connecticut and sometimes southwestern Vermont are available from it. Likewise, it can be seen from many of the surrounding mountains, the village of Hunter and the upper slopes of the ski area. It is the highest fire tower still standing in the state and the second-highest in the entire Northeast.

Kaaterskill Junction station, branch MP 11.8, was one of the smallest stations on the Ulster & Delaware, and served as the station at the junction between the Stony Clove and Kaaterskill Branch and the Hunter Branch, hence the word "junction" in its name. The station was originally known as the Tannersville Junction station, but its name was changed soon after it was made. Despite its small size, it had more trains than any other station on the branch, and stayed that way until it was abandoned in 1939. Soon after, it was purchased by Harry L'Hommadeu, a land agent for the New York Central, and expanded into a private dwelling. The station burned down on a winter day in the late 1980s.
