Camp Jened was a summer camp for disabled people in the state of New York that became a springboard for the disability rights movement and independent living movement in the United States. Many campers and counselors (also known as "Jenedians") became disability rights activists, such as Judith Heumann, James LeBrecht, and Bobbi Linn.

St. Mary's of the Mountain Church was an historic Roman Catholic church on New York State Route 23A in Hunter, Greene County, New York. The church was completed in 1839 and is a one-story, four by two bay, post and beam frame structure on a modern concrete foundation. It features a moderately pitched gable roof, narrow clapboard sheathing, two engaged corner towers, and a Romanesque style engaged entry / bell tower. Also on the property is the parish cemetery.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.It was razed on 04/12/2017.

Hunter is a town located in Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 3,035 at the time of the 2020 census. The town contains two villages, one named Hunter on the west, and the second called Tannersville, as well as a number of hamlets such as Haines Falls, Platte Clove, Lanesville and Edgewood. Additionally, there are three residential parks location within town limits: Onteora Park, Twilight Park and Elka Park. The town is on the southern border of Greene County and abuts the towns of Woodstock and Saugerties, located in Ulster County.

Notch Lake is an artificial lake in Edgewood, New York, in the Town of Hunter in the Catskill Mountains. It is located near the Stony Clove Notch, and is located near the edge of the Devil's Tombstone Campsite, bordering New York State Route 214. There is also a parking lot near the shore. It is the beginning of the Stony Clove Creek. One thing unusual about it is that it is one of the few places in the Catskills where there is a patch of Boreal Forest growing below 3,000 feet above sea level. A fire occurred near the northern shore in the 1990s. Camping is not allowed at the day-use area next to the parking lot and Pond, however, camping is allowed a short walk South along Route 214 at the Devil's Tombstone Campground.

Hunter Synagogue is a historic Jewish synagogue on Main Street in Hunter, Greene County, New York. It was constructed between 1909 and 1914 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, three-by-seven-bay, Queen Anne–inspired building. Also on the property is a shed built about 1910.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Harry Fischel House, also known as Fairlawn, is a historic home located at Hunter in Greene County, New York. It was built about 1840 and substantially enlarged in 1904. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, five-by-two-bay, Queen Anne–style dwelling with a 2-story, eight-by-one-bay rear wing. It features a 2-story, engaged corner tower and single-story verandah.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Onteora Mountain is a mountain located in the Catskill Mountains of New York east-northeast of Hunter. Parker Mountain is located east, and East Jewett Range is located west-northwest of Onteora Mountain.

Church of St. John the Evangelist is an historic Episcopal church located in the village of Tannersville, part of the town of Hunter in Greene County, New York. It was built in 1885 and is a one-story, one-by-six bay structure. It is built of light frame construction atop partial fieldstone walls on a fieldstone foundation. It features a steeply pitched gable roof with a large square belfry on the ridge. It was designed by architect William Halsey Wood (1855–1897).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Elka Park Historic District is a national historic district located at Hunter in Greene County, New York. The district contains 31 contributing buildings, one contributing site, and one contributing structure. It is composed of a planned community of 20 seasonal houses founded and developed as small, late 19th century, summer residential enclave by wealthy German Americans. It includes 19 summer cottages, an observation tower, and a former community carriage house converted to residential use.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Devils Tombstone or the Devil's Tombstone Park, is a park which is named for the large rock which lay at the center of the park, which is located in Greene County, New York. The park is part of the Catskill Mountain range, and located north-northeast of Edgewood. Plateau Mountain, is located east of Devils Tombstone, Sugarloaf Mountain, is located southeast, and Hunter Mountain is directly west. The Devil's Tombstone is one of the oldest parks in the Catskill Forest Preserve.
