St Philip's Christian College is a multi-campus independent non-denominational Christian co-educational early learning, primary and secondary day school, located in the Central Coast and Hunter regions of New South Wales, Australia. There are 4,000 students across all campuses that are located in Cessnock, Gosford, Newcastle, Port Stephens, plus a campus in Waratah which houses the DALE (Dynamic Alternative Learning Environment) program for students with an autism spectrum disorder, or who struggle with their schooling (students are also able to access this program at the Cessnock and Gosford campuses). A Young Parents program is delivered from campuses in Waratah and Wyong.

Callaghan College is a large multi-campus government-funded co-educational comprehensive secondary day school, located in the north-western corridor of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. Established on 28 June 2000, the College operates across three campuses, with education for students in Year 7 to Year 10 delivered from both the Wallsend and Waratah campuses; and for students in Year 11 and Year 12 delivered from the Jesmond Senior campus. Before 2020, the Waratah campus operated as a specialist school for technology students. In 2018, across all three campuses, the College had an enrolment of approximately 2,500 students, of whom thirteen percent identified as Indigenous Australians and thirteen percent were from a language background other than English. Across all three campuses, the 2300 students are supported by approximately 300 staff. The College is run and administered by the New South Wales Department of Education. The College Principal is Ms Kylee Owen and each campus has a principal.

Owned and operated as part of the Super Radio Network of stations, it currently broadcasts a news talk and classic hits format to Newcastle, New South Wales and the surrounding Hunter region. First broadcast on 27 January 1925, it was established by founder Harry Douglas - from which the station derives its name - and is based in studios in Sandgate alongside sister station New FM. 2HD is Australia's second oldest existing radio station, first going to air just hours after Sydney's 2UE.
