Eisenstadt (German pronunciation: [ˈaɪzn̩ʃtat] (listen); Austro-Bavarian: Eisnstod; Hungarian: Kismarton; Croatian: Željezni grad or Željezno; Slovene: Železno) is the capital city of the Austrian state of Burgenland. With a population of 15,074 (as of 2023), it is the smallest state capital and the 38th-largest city in Austria overall. It lies at the foot of the Leitha Mountains hill range. From 1648 to 1921, Kismarton/Eisenstadt was part of the Habsburg Empire's Kingdom of Hungary and the seat of the Hungarian noble family Eszterházy. During this time, the composer Joseph Haydn lived and worked in Eisenstadt as a court musician under the patronage of the Esterházy family. After the cessation of Burgenland to Austria in 1921, the city became the province's capital in 1925. As the state capital of Burgenland, it functions as a center of public administration and services and is the seat of three institutes of higher education.

The Austrian Jewish Museum is located on Unterbergstraße 6 in Eisenstadt, Austria. The museum was founded in 1972 by Kurt Schubert, and was the first Jewish museum to open in Austria after 1945.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Eisenstadt (Latin: Dioecesis Sideropolitanus) is a diocese located in the city of Eisenstadt in the Ecclesiastical province of Vienna in Austria. The episcopal seat is in Eisenstadt Cathedral.

Eisenstadt Cathedral, otherwise St. Martin's Cathedral, previously St. Martin's Church (German: Dom St. Martin in Eisenstadt), is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Eisenstadt, Burgenland, Austria, dedicated to Saint Martin. It has been the seat of the Bishop of Eisenstadt since the creation of the diocese in 1960.

The Bergkirche ("hill church") is a church in Eisenstadt, the capital of the state of Burgenland in Austria. The church (of Catholic denomination) was built in the early 18th century by Prince Paul Esterházy. Eisenstadt was the seat of the Esterházy family, and the church lies just a short walk to the west of the family's main palace.

The Bezirk Eisenstadt-Umgebung (Croatian: Kotar Željezno-okolica; Hungarian: Kismarton Járás) is an administrative district (Bezirk) in the federal state of Burgenland, Austria. The area of the district is 455.5 km2, with a population of 44,257 (2022), and a population density of 98 persons per km2. The administrative center of the district is Eisenstadt (Croatian: Željezno), itself a statutory city outside of the district.

Großhöflein (Hungarian: Nagy-Höflány, Nagyhöflány, Croatian: Velika Holovajna) is a market town in eastern Austria, in the state of Burgenland. It is located near the state capital Eisenstadt.

Trausdorf an der Wulka (Burgenland Croatian: Trajštof, Hungarian: Darázsfalu) is a town in the district of Eisenstadt-Umgebung in the Austrian state of Burgenland. It is on the Wulka river.

The Leitha Mountains or, less frequently, Leitha Hills (German: Leithagebirge; Hungarian: Lajta-hegység), are a range of hills in Austria lying on the boundary between Lower Austria and Burgenland. The range is an offshoot of the Alps and forms a connection to the Carpathians to the north. It is a ridge about 35 km long and 5–7 km wide along the southeastern edge of the Vienna Basin from Brucker Pforte in the northeast to Wiener Neustädter Pforte (Ödenburger Pforte) in the southwest. The range lies to the southeast of the Leitha River and is considered part of the Randgebirge östlich der Mur division of the Eastern Alps. Its highest peak, Sonnenberg (Hungarian: Nap-hegy), is 484 m above sea level. The ridge is heavily forested with deciduous trees such as oak, hornbeam, and beech predominating.
