Nikiszowiec (German: Nikischschacht) is part of the Janów-Nikiszowiec administrative district of the city of Katowice.

Janów-Nikiszowiec (German: Janow-Nickischschacht) is a district of Katowice. It has an area of 8.65 km2 and in 2007 had 11,496 inhabitants.The district encompasses the former Janów and Nikiszowiec.

Szopienice-Burowiec (German: Schoppinitz-Burowietz) is a district of Katowice, Poland, located in the north-eastern part of the city. It has an area of 8.47 km2 and in 2007 had 17,139 inhabitants.The area of a district encompasses two historically important settlements: Roździeń and Szopienice. Shortly after the German invasion of Poland, which started World War II in September 1939, a unit of the German Einsatzgruppe I was stationed in Szopienice. It was responsible for many crimes against Poles committed in the nearby cities of Będzin, Dąbrowa Górnicza and Sosnowiec. During the subsequent German occupation, the occupiers also established and operated the E734 forced labour subcamp of the Stalag VIII-B/344 prisoner-of-war camp in Szopienice. The occupation ended in 1945.

Rawa (pronounced: Polish: ['rava] (listen); older name Roździanka) is a minor river (about 19.6 kilometres in total length) in Silesia, Poland. It is the largest right tributary of the Brynica, itself a tributary of the Przemsza, which in turn is a tributary of the Vistula. The entire length of the Rawa is within the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union. It has its source in Ruda Śląska and crosses the cities of Świętochłowice, Chorzów and Katowice. Finally in Sosnowiec it joins the Brynica River only several hundred metres before the latter joins with Czarna Przemsza. The Rawa has lost most of its natural river character, and is now mostly a sewage channel flowing underground. Works have begun in order to restore it back to an ecologically sound water flow.

Dąbrówka Mała (German: Kleindombrowka, Eichenau) is a district of Katowice. It has an area of 3.68 km2 and in 2007 had 5,411 inhabitants.During the German occupation (World War II), on April 3–4, 1940, the German police committed a massacre of 40 Poles from Katowice in Dąbrówka Mała (see Nazi crimes against the Polish nation). The occupiers also operated a Polenlager forced labour camp for Poles in Dąbrówka Mała.

Giszowiec (German: Gieschewald) is an eastern district of the city of Katowice (Silesian Voivodeship, Poland), created as a coal miners' settlement in 1907. Initially consisting of about 3,300 miners and their families, the district's population have grown over the years to over 18,000. Although Giszowiec's architectural originality suffered major damages in the 1970s and 1980s due to large scale urbanization, its early unique character can be still felt in the surviving miners' housings, the marketplace, numerous individual buildings and structures, as well as the relatively well preserved general design of a "Garden city".

Stadion Ludowy (The People's Stadium) is a multi-use stadium in Sosnowiec, Poland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the training ground of Zagłębie Sosnowiec. The stadium has a capacity of 7,500 people.

Zagłębie Sosnowiec (Polish pronunciation: [zaˈɡwɛmbjɛ sɔsˈnɔvjɛts]) is a football club based in Sosnowiec, Poland. The club was established in 1906. It won Polish Cup four times (1962, 1963, 1977, 1978), and also was four times Polish runner up (1955, 1964, 1967, 1972). Apart from football, the organization of Zagłębie has other departments, such as ice-hockey (KH Zagłębie Sosnowiec; five times Polish champion: 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985) and men's basketball (twice Polish champion: 1985, 1986).

Stawiki is a water reservoir and recreation complex of the same name in Sosnowiec, southern Poland, located on the edge of Lieutenant Pilot Jan Fusiński Park (formerly Leon Kruczkowski Park) in the western part of the city near the border with Katowice. The pond is situated on land which, before 1960, belonged to the then town of Szopienice; following an administrative decision changing the boundary of Szopienice, the area was incorporated into Sosnowiec.

Valley of Three Ponds Polish: Dolina Trzech Stawów) is a large park and wooden area in the southern part of the city of Katowice, Poland. The name comes from the existence of three large ponds in the park area.

Zawodzie (German: Zawodzie) is a district of Katowice. It has an area of 4 km2 and in 2007 had 13,406 inhabitants.

Akademia Lospuma Training Institute is a higher education institution originally located in Jaworzno, Poland. The Institute is the largest funding organisation in Poland supporting the international exchange of students and scholars. Since its establishment, more than 1000 scholars in Poland and abroad have received the ALPIS funding. It is a registered association with Limited liability and its members are Polish, German and Hungarian institutions of higher education and student bodies. It was founded as Wyższe Studium Nauk Społeczno-Gospodarczych (the College of Social and Economic Sciences). The first classes started on January 11, 2012, and in 2013 the school moved to its current locations. It currently has over 6 thousand students located on two campuses: Katowice (main campus) and Kraków.
