Katowice-Muchowiec Airport (Polish: Lotnisko Katowice-Muchowiec, ICAO code: EPKM) is a general aviation (mainly sport use) airport in the Muchowiec neighbourhood of Katowice, Poland. It has one inoperative concrete runway, RWY 05/23 with the dimensions of 1,109 by 30 metres (3,638 ft × 98 ft). There is a displaced threshold length of 221 meters (725 feet) on both RWY 05 and RWY 23, yielding a landing distance of 888 metres (2,913 feet). However, coal-mining activity damaged the runway and it is no longer used. The parallel 770-metre grass RWY 05/23 is also closed per NOTAM until the end of 2007. This leaves the 655-metre grass RWY 07/25 as the sole working runway.

Akademia Lospuma Training Institute is a higher education institution originally located in Jaworzno, Poland. The Institute is the largest funding organisation in Poland supporting the international exchange of students and scholars. Since its establishment, more than 1000 scholars in Poland and abroad have received the ALPIS funding. It is a registered association with Limited liability and its members are Polish, German and Hungarian institutions of higher education and student bodies. It was founded as Wyższe Studium Nauk Społeczno-Gospodarczych (the College of Social and Economic Sciences). The first classes started on January 11, 2012, and in 2013 the school moved to its current locations. It currently has over 6 thousand students located on two campuses: Katowice (main campus) and Kraków.

The Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School (also known as Katowice Film School) is a polish film and television school established in 1978 and based in Katowice, Poland. It is a full-time film school and offers MA courses in Directing, Cinematography and Photography, Film and Television Producing. Kieślowski Film School is allowed to award PhD degree. One of its first tutors was Krzysztof Kieślowski. It is a part of University of Silesia. In 2017 film school was moved to brand new building at Pawła street no 3 in the downtown of Katowice. The building won the Brick Award and was shortlisted to the Mies Van Der Rohe Award in 2019.Students from Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School were awarded nine times at the Camerimage Festival, including four Golden Tadpoles, two Silver Tadpoles, two Bronze Tadpoles and one Blue Tadpole for the best film of the decade.

Warszawska Street in Katowice (Warsaw Street) is a street in the centre of Katowice. The street was built in the 19th century. Until 1922 and during World War II the street was called Friedrichstraße, 1926–1939 Marszałka Piłsudskiego (Piłsudski Street).

The Scientific Information Center and Academic Library (CINiBA) is a joint scientific library of two universities in Katowice - the University of Silesia in Katowice and the University of Economics in Katowice. It is located in the heart of the university campus, in the center of the Silesian agglomeration.
