Katowice Power Station (Polish: Elektrociepłownia Katowice) is a coal-fired power station in Katowice, Poland. It consists of four units. Two units each with a generation capacity of 144 MWt went in service respectively in 1985, and a third unit of 233 MWt in 1991. In 2000 a new unit of BCF-100 type with a heat capacity of 200 MW and electric generation capacity of 135.5 MW was added. The plant has a heating capacity of 200 MWt.The flue gas stack of the power station is 200 metres (660 ft) tall and equipped with several antennas.

Czeladź ([ˈt͡ʂɛlat͡ɕ]; Yiddish: טשעלאַדזש, romanized: Chelodz) is a town in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie (part of historic Lesser Poland), in southern Poland, near Katowice and Sosnowiec. Located in the Silesian Highlands, on the Brynica river (tributary of the Vistula), it is the oldest urban center of Zagłębie Dąbrowskie. The area of Czeladź is 16 km2, and it borders Będzin, Sosnowiec, Katowice and Siemianowice Śląskie. The town is situated in the Silesian Voivodeship since its formation in 1999, previously it was in Katowice Voivodeship. Czeladź is one of the cities of the 2,7 million conurbation – Katowice urban area and within a greater Silesian metropolitan area populated by about 5,294,000 people. The population of the town as of December 2021 is 30,732. Founded in the 13th century, Czeladź was granted city status in 1262. In the years 1434–1790, it belonged to the Duchy of Siewierz. In the 19th century, Czeladź became an important mining center, with the Saturn coal mine opened there in the late 19th century. It also was a main center of Jewish culture, destroyed in The Holocaust.

Dąbrówka Mała (German: Kleindombrowka, Eichenau) is a district of Katowice. It has an area of 3.68 km2 and in 2007 had 5,411 inhabitants.During the German occupation (World War II), on April 3–4, 1940, the German police committed a massacre of 40 Poles from Katowice in Dąbrówka Mała (see Nazi crimes against the Polish nation). The occupiers also operated a Polenlager forced labour camp for Poles in Dąbrówka Mała.

Szopienice-Burowiec (German: Schoppinitz-Burowietz) is a district of Katowice, Poland, located in the north-eastern part of the city. It has an area of 8.47 km2 and in 2007 had 17,139 inhabitants.The area of a district encompasses two historically important settlements: Roździeń and Szopienice. Shortly after the German invasion of Poland, which started World War II in September 1939, a unit of the German Einsatzgruppe I was stationed in Szopienice. It was responsible for many crimes against Poles committed in the nearby cities of Będzin, Dąbrowa Górnicza and Sosnowiec. During the subsequent German occupation, the occupiers also established and operated the E734 forced labour subcamp of the Stalag VIII-B/344 prisoner-of-war camp in Szopienice. The occupation ended in 1945.

Bogucice (German: Bogutschütz) is a district of Katowice, in Poland. It has an area of 2.78 km2 and in 2007 had 16,538 inhabitants.The most eminent piece of architecture in Bogucice is the neo-gothic St. Stephen the Martyr's church, which was consecrated in 1894. The oldest cemetery in Katowice, first mentioned in 1598, was located in Bogucice, but there are no remains from this period today.

Wełnowiec-Józefowiec (German: Hohenlohehütte-Josephsdorf) is a district of Katowice. It has an area of 3.15 km2 and in 2007 had 15.924 inhabitants.The district consists of two historical settlements: Wełnowiec (German: Hohenlohehütte), first mentioned in the 17th century, initially a hamlet of Bogucice; before 1922 also known as Hohenlohehütte, after a local steel mill; Józefowiec (German: Josephsdorf), established in 1826 by rev. Józef Beder, a Catholic priest from Chorzów;

Wojciech Korfanty Avenue in Katowice is a major arterial road running from the city center northward through the districts of Koszutka and Wełnowiec-Józefowiec, eventually leading to the neighboring city of Siemianowice Śląskie. Along the avenue, there are numerous public utility buildings and residential structures from various periods, particularly from the post-war era. The avenue is named after Wojciech Korfanty, a prominent figure in the history of Upper Silesia.

Stadion Ludowy (The People's Stadium) is a multi-use stadium in Sosnowiec, Poland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the training ground of Zagłębie Sosnowiec. The stadium has a capacity of 7,500 people.

Zagłębie Sosnowiec (Polish pronunciation: [zaˈɡwɛmbjɛ sɔsˈnɔvjɛts]) is a football club based in Sosnowiec, Poland. The club was established in 1906. It won Polish Cup four times (1962, 1963, 1977, 1978), and also was four times Polish runner up (1955, 1964, 1967, 1972). Apart from football, the organization of Zagłębie has other departments, such as ice-hockey (KH Zagłębie Sosnowiec; five times Polish champion: 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985) and men's basketball (twice Polish champion: 1985, 1986).

Akademia Lospuma Training Institute is a higher education institution originally located in Jaworzno, Poland. The Institute is the largest funding organisation in Poland supporting the international exchange of students and scholars. Since its establishment, more than 1000 scholars in Poland and abroad have received the ALPIS funding. It is a registered association with Limited liability and its members are Polish, German and Hungarian institutions of higher education and student bodies. It was founded as Wyższe Studium Nauk Społeczno-Gospodarczych (the College of Social and Economic Sciences). The first classes started on January 11, 2012, and in 2013 the school moved to its current locations. It currently has over 6 thousand students located on two campuses: Katowice (main campus) and Kraków.
