The Ministry of the Navy (French: Ministère de la Marine) was a section of the French government – apart from the Ministry of War – that was in charge of the French navy and colonies. The ministry combined the administration of the navy, the colonies like New France and seaborne trade helping for example the French East India Company. A widely held view at the time was that for states to be powerful, wealthy and prestigious, colonies in the New World need to be maintained for their consequent trade. The maintenance of colonies through naval operations not only served to improve the stature of the state, but was also helpful in destroying their European rivals in North America.After the Second World War, the Ministry of the Navy was merged with the War Ministry, absorbing the role of the Minister of the Navy and Colonies, with a Minister of National Defence directing the entire military French forces.

The hôtel de la Marine (also known as the hôtel du Garde-Meuble) is an historic building located on place de la Concorde in Paris, to the east of rue Royale. It was designed and built between 1757 and 1774 by the architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, on the newly created square first called Place Louis XV. The identical building to its west, constructed at the same time, now houses the hôtel de Crillon and the Automobile Club of France. The Hôtel de la Marine was originally the home of the royal Garde-Mobile, the office managing the furnishing of all royal properties. Following the French Revolution it became the Ministry of the French Navy, which occupied it until 2015. It was entirely renovated between 2015 and 2021. It now displays the restored 18th century apartments of Marc-Antoine Thierry de Ville-d'Avray, the King's Intendant of the Garde-Meuble, as well the salons and chambers later used by the French Navy. A separate part displays the Al Thani Collection presenting international and inter-cultural works of art from the collection of Sheik Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani.

Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption is a Roman Catholic church in the First arrondissement of Paris, France. The building was constructed between 1670 and 1676 when it was consecrated. Since 1844 it has been the main Polish church of Paris, situated at 263, Rue Saint-Honoré.

The Court of Audit (French: Cour des comptes) is the national French administrative court charged with conducting financial and legislative audits of most public institutions and some private institutions, including the central Government, national public corporations, social security agencies (since 1950), and public services (since 1976). The Court is essentially a cross between a court of exchequer, comptroller general's office, and auditor general's office in common-law countries. It is as well a Grand Corps of the French State mainly recruits among the best students graduating from the Ecole nationale d'administration. The Court's three duties are to conduct financial audits of accounts, conduct good governance audits, and provide information and advice to the French Parliament and Administration. The Court verifies the good form of accounting and the proper handling of public money. Established in 1807, the Court is the successor to the Paris Court of Accounts under the monarchy, or Ancien Régime, and had inherent jurisdiction to audit all public accounting officials and agencies. The Court of Audit is independent from the legislative and executive branches of Government. However, the 1946 and 1958 French constitutions made it the Court's duty to assist the Cabinet and Parliament in regulating government spending. It was created by French Emperor Napoléon I with the Law of September 16th 1807.

Maxim's is a restaurant in Paris, France, located at No. 3 rue Royale in the 8th arrondissement. It is known for its Art Nouveau interior decor. In the mid 20th century Maxim's was regarded as the most famous restaurant in the world.

Porte Saint-Honoré was a city gate in Paris. It was the main entry point into the city from the west, towards Saint-Germain-en-Laye (with porte Saint-Denis to the north towards Saint-Denis, porte Saint-Antoine to the east towards Vincennes, and porte Saint-Jacques to the south towards Orléans). There were three gates that bore the name, demolished rebuilt further and further along rue Saint-Honoré as the city expanded - they dated to the early 13th, late 14th and early 17th centuries.

The rue Royale (French pronunciation: ​[ʁy ʁwajal]) is a short street in Paris, France, running between the Place de la Concorde and the Place de la Madeleine (site of the Church of the Madeleine). The rue Royale is in the city's 8th arrondissement. Among the well-known addresses on this street is that of Maxim's restaurant, at number 3. On 12 August 1843, the rue Royale was the scene for a bizarre phenomenon, when tens of thousands of butterflies landed, causing chaos and swarming the shops and restaurants. The pillars of the Madeleine were, reportedly, "covered".

The Musée Bouilhet-Christofle was a private museum located in the 8th arrondissement at 9, rue Royale, Paris, France. The museum's main collection was located in a Parisian suburb at 112, rue Ambroise Croizat, Saint-Denis, France. The museum closed in 2008.The Maison Christofle was founded in 1845 by Charles Christofle (1805-1863), and became silversmith to Napoleon III and one of the major silversmiths in nineteenth-century France. The museum contained more than 2000 items of silver plate and cutlery reflecting the company's history from its founding to the present day. It contained examples of naturalism, Orientalism, Japonism, Art Nouveau, items produced for the universal expositions, Art Deco, etc., and documents a wide range of techniques including electroplating, enameling, and so forth. It also contained displays on the history of silver production, table settings, and table manners.

Maxim's Art Nouveau "Collection 1900", also known as the Musée Art Nouveau - Maxim's, is a private collection of Art Nouveau objects and decor, located in the 8th arrondissement above Maxim's Paris restaurant at 3, Rue Royale, Paris, France. It is open for guided tours in afternoons except Monday and Tuesday; an admission fee is charged. Pierre Cardin (the owner since 1981 of Maxim's restaurant, a symbol for Art Nouveau) has collected for over 60 years objects from the Belle Epoque. There are more than 550 pieces from all over the world, signed by Louis Majorelle, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Émile Gallé, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Clement Massier. These objects are displayed in a 12-room apartment building (three floors) which is now classified as a historic monument. Highlights of the collection include furniture by Majorelle, a sofa inspired by Antoni Gaudí and recreations of bedrooms from that time period.

The Musée de l'Orangerie is an art gallery of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings located in the west corner of the Tuileries Gardens next to the Place de la Concorde in Paris. The museum is most famous as the permanent home of eight large Water Lilies murals by Claude Monet, and also contains works by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Rousseau, Alfred Sisley, Chaïm Soutine, Maurice Utrillo, and others.

The Café des Ambassadeurs, also known as Les Ambassadeurs or Les Ambass', was a café-concert located in the Champs-Élysées district, at 1 Avenue Gabriel, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, which opened around 1830 and closed in 1929. Les Ambassadeurs had its heyday during the Belle Époque in Paris when the café-concert became a regular destination of some of the best known figures of art and the demi-monde in Paris. Painters such as Edgar Degas and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec portrayed artists and visitors at the caf'conc and almost every vaudeville and music hall entertainer that mattered in those days performed in Les Ambass' . In the 1920s, the venue was transformed into an American-style music hall, which had American and African-American artists, singers, dancers and jazz orchestras performing to attract the growing number of American tourists in Paris.

Les Ambassadeurs was a restaurant in Paris, France, situated in the Hôtel de Crillon. It closed on March 31, 2013, when the hotel closed for renovations, and in 2017 the space reopened as a bar, with Les Ambassadeurs being replaced by a smaller restaurant.
