Halton East is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east of Skipton. The population of the parish was estimated at 90 in 2015.The place was first recorded in the Domesday Book as Haltone. The name is derived from the Old English halh 'nook' and tūn 'farm or village', so means 'farm or village by a nook'. "East" was added to distinguish the village from another Halton, now Halton West, 12 miles (19 km) to the west.Halton East was historically a township in the large ancient parish of Skipton in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. In 1974 it was transferred to the new county of North Yorkshire.

Chelker Reservoir is a man-made lake in North Yorkshire, England. It lies in the parish of Draughton, immediately north of the A65 road, between Skipton and the village of Addingham. It was put into service in 1866 and serves the Bradford area; it is currently owned by Yorkshire Water. The reservoir's main inflow is the River Wharfe.

Bolton Abbey railway station is on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. It serves Bolton Abbey, although it is closer to Bolton Bridge, in North Yorkshire, England and several countryside walking routes. The station is the current terminus of the steam railway.

Embsay Priory was a medieval monastic house in North Yorkshire, England. The priory was founded in 1120 in Embsay at Wharfedale. It was dedicated to St Mary and St Cuthbert and was part of the Augustinian order. William de Meschines and his wife Cecily endowed the priory and the churches in Skipton and Carleton.In 1154, the priory was moved to Bolton Abbey, which is 5 mi (8 km) east. However, a small group of canons remained until the Dissolution of the Monasteries. St Mary the Virgin's Church (Embsay with Eastby) stands on the site of the former priory.

Barden is a civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It consists of the hamlet of Drebley and a few scattered houses in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales. The parish also includes two areas of moorland, Barden Fell to the east of the River Wharfe and Barden Moor to the west of the river. Both moorlands are access land, and are popular with walkers. Barden Fell rises to the prominent peak of Simon's Seat, and Barden Moor includes two scenic 19th century reservoirs. Much of the parish is on the Bolton Abbey estate.The parish is sparsely populated. At the 2011 Census the population of the civil parish was less than 100, and the census statistics for the parish were therefore merged with those of the adjoining civil parish of Hazlewood with Storiths. In 2015, North Yorkshire County Council estimated that the population of the parish was 90.Barden is derived from the Old English berdene, and means the valley where the barley is grown.

Barden Tower is a ruined building in the Parish of Barden, in Wharfedale, North Yorkshire, England. The tower was used as a hunting lodge in the 15th and 16th centuries, and despite a renovation in the 1650s, it fell into disrepair in the 18th century. The tower is now part of the Bolton Estate and is listed as a medieval fortified tower. Along with other buildings on the Bolton Estate, it is a focal point and many people visit the tower. It is also a way marker on the 100-mile (160 km) Lady Anne's Way long distance path.

Bolton Bridge is a hamlet in the civil parish of Bolton Abbey, in North Yorkshire, England, on the west side of the River Wharfe. It is south along the B6160 road from the village of Bolton Abbey. It is in the parish of Bolton Abbey. The hamlet shares its name with Bolton Bridge, an old bridge over the river less than a kilometre south of the town. The bridge is Grade II listed, and was built in 1807. The cottage building standing on the west bank of the river by the bridge may be the site of a former chapel. There are several heritage buildings in the hamlet including some cottages and the Devonshire Arms pub. The hamlet area is considered at-risk for floods. The hamlet lies on the route of the Dales Way.

Craven is an electoral ward within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, West Yorkshire, England. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 16,373.It encompasses the villages of Steeton with Eastburn in the south, Silsden in the centre and Addingham in the north. It is adjacent to the Craven district of North Yorkshire.

The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway (E&BASR) is a heritage railway in North Yorkshire, England, formed in 1979 and opened in 1981. The preserved railway was part of the former Midland Railway route from Skipton to Ilkley which was closed down by British Railways in 1965 over 15 years before the reopening of part of the line. The E&BASR currently runs for a total distance of 4 miles (6 km) from Embsay via Draughton Sidings, Holywell and Stoneacre Loop to Bolton Abbey station and carries around 100,000 passengers a year.The long-term objectives of the railway are extensions of the line in both directions, eastwards to the West Yorkshire village of Addingham and southwest towards the North Yorkshire market town of Skipton.
