Embsay with Eastby

Embsay Priory was a medieval monastic house in North Yorkshire, England. The priory was founded in 1120 in Embsay at Wharfedale. It was dedicated to St Mary and St Cuthbert and was part of the Augustinian order. William de Meschines and his wife Cecily endowed the priory and the churches in Skipton and Carleton.In 1154, the priory was moved to Bolton Abbey, which is 5 mi (8 km) east. However, a small group of canons remained until the Dissolution of the Monasteries. St Mary the Virgin's Church (Embsay with Eastby) stands on the site of the former priory.

Embsay is a village in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is paired with the neighbouring hamlet of Eastby to form the civil parish of Embsay with Eastby. The parish population as of the 2011 census was 1,871.

The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway (E&BASR) is a heritage railway in North Yorkshire, England, formed in 1979 and opened in 1981. The preserved railway was part of the former Midland Railway route from Skipton to Ilkley which was closed down by British Railways in 1965 over 15 years before the reopening of part of the line. The E&BASR currently runs for a total distance of 4 miles (6 km) from Embsay via Draughton Sidings, Holywell and Stoneacre Loop to Bolton Abbey station and carries around 100,000 passengers a year.The long-term objectives of the railway are extensions of the line in both directions, eastwards to the West Yorkshire village of Addingham and southwest towards the North Yorkshire market town of Skipton.

The Yorkshire dialect (also known as Broad Yorkshire, Tyke, Yorkie, or Yorkshire English) is a dialect of English, or continuum of dialects, spoken in the Yorkshire region of Northern England. Upper Barden Reservoir is an upland fresh water reservoir, one of two reservoirs that collect water from Barden Moor, and dam Barden Beck, a tributary of the River Wharfe in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, England. The reservoir was opened in 1882 and also supplies fresh water to the Nidd Aqueduct, which transports it to Bradford. Upper Barden Reservoir was the second of the reservoirs to be built, (Lower Barden opened in 1860). The embankment of the dam head is 125 feet (38 m) high, which at the time of its construction, was the highest in England, and notable for being one of the first to use concrete.

Draughton (pronounced Draftun) is a village and civil parish, population 240, in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Skipton. The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway passes under a road bridge some 550 yards (500 m) north of the village. On 5 July 2014, the Tour de France Stage 1 from Leeds to Harrogate passed through the village.

Halton East is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east of Skipton. The population of the parish was estimated at 90 in 2015.The place was first recorded in the Domesday Book as Haltone. The name is derived from the Old English halh 'nook' and tūn 'farm or village', so means 'farm or village by a nook'. "East" was added to distinguish the village from another Halton, now Halton West, 12 miles (19 km) to the west.Halton East was historically a township in the large ancient parish of Skipton in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. In 1974 it was transferred to the new county of North Yorkshire.

Skipton Wood (also known as Skipton Castle Woods, Castle Wood or Springs Wood) is a 36-acre (15 ha) wood following the valley of Eller Beck to the north of Skipton behind Skipton Castle in North Yorkshire, England. The wood is owned by Skipton Castle but has been leased to the Woodland Trust.
