Barden Old Chapel, also known as Barden Tower Chapel or Barden Church, is a historic building in Barden near Skipton in North Yorkshire, in England. The chapel was constructed in the 16th century, to serve neighbouring Barden Tower. The interior was restored in the 19th century, but later gutted. Despite this the building was occasionally used for worship until the 1950s, but thereafter was boarded up and used only for storage. In 1954, it was grade I listed, but it was later placed on the Heritage at Risk Register. In 2015, the Bolton Abbey Estate restored the building as an events venue. The single-storey building is constructed of stone and has a stone slate roof. It is two bays long, and is supported by an angle buttress. To the left of the buttress is the doorway, and to its left is a six-light mullioned window. There is a further three-light window in the left wall. Inside, the original font survives, along with metalwork from the 2015 renovation. There is also a kitchen, with cellar below.

Barden Tower is a ruined building in the Parish of Barden, in Wharfedale, North Yorkshire, England. The tower was used as a hunting lodge in the 15th and 16th centuries, and despite a renovation in the 1650s, it fell into disrepair in the 18th century. The tower is now part of the Bolton Estate and is listed as a medieval fortified tower. Along with other buildings on the Bolton Estate, it is a focal point and many people visit the tower. It is also a way marker on the 100-mile (160 km) Lady Anne's Way long distance path.

Barden is a civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. It consists of the hamlet of Drebley and a few scattered houses in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales. The parish also includes two areas of moorland, Barden Fell to the east of the River Wharfe and Barden Moor to the west of the river. Both moorlands are access land, and are popular with walkers. Barden Fell rises to the prominent peak of Simon's Seat, and Barden Moor includes two scenic 19th century reservoirs. Much of the parish is on the Bolton Abbey estate.The parish is sparsely populated. At the 2011 Census the population of the civil parish was less than 100, and the census statistics for the parish were therefore merged with those of the adjoining civil parish of Hazlewood with Storiths. In 2015, North Yorkshire County Council estimated that the population of the parish was 90.Barden is derived from the Old English berdene, and means the valley where the barley is grown.

Appletreewick is a village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England, 6.5 miles (10.5 km) north-east of Skipton, 7 miles (11 km) from Skipton railway station and 16 miles (25.7 km) from Leeds Bradford International Airport. Appletreewick is in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales, a popular place for visitors, especially in the summer months, on the banks of the River Wharfe.The civil parish includes the hamlet of Skyreholme and the western end of the village of Greenhow. The parish also includes Parcevall Hall, Stump Cross Caverns, the eastern part of Grimwith Reservoir and extensive areas of moorland north and east of the village. Barden Fell is a grouse moor belonging to the Bolton Abbey Estate, and Simon's Seat is a prominent rock outcrop to the north of Barden Fell. The civil parish had a population of 218 at the 2011 Census.

Halton East is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east of Skipton. The population of the parish was estimated at 90 in 2015.The place was first recorded in the Domesday Book as Haltone. The name is derived from the Old English halh 'nook' and tūn 'farm or village', so means 'farm or village by a nook'. "East" was added to distinguish the village from another Halton, now Halton West, 12 miles (19 km) to the west.Halton East was historically a township in the large ancient parish of Skipton in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. In 1974 it was transferred to the new county of North Yorkshire.

The River Dibb, also known as Barben Beck, is a small river located in North Yorkshire, England. It is a tributary of the River Wharfe. Grimwith Reservoir is at the head of the River Dibb at a point some 2.5 miles (4 km) from Appletreewick. The river flows for 5.2 kilometres (3.2 mi), and must maintain a flow of 273,000 cubic metres (9,600,000 cu ft) of water a day into the River Wharfe system.

Bolton Abbey railway station is on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. It serves Bolton Abbey, although it is closer to Bolton Bridge, in North Yorkshire, England and several countryside walking routes. The station is the current terminus of the steam railway.

Barden Moor is an area of upland in North Yorkshire England, that is bounded by Skipton and Embsay in the south, Rylstone and Cracoe to the west, Burnsall to the north, and Barden to the east. Most of Barden Moor belongs to the Bolton Abbey Estate, and whilst there are paths across the moor, the land remains private and can also be closed to the public for up to 30 days a year. Barden Moor is an SSSI and is an important heath and blanket bog location, with it also being one of the largest natural carbon storage sites in England.

Skyreholme is a hamlet in Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, England. It lies 1-mile (1.6 km) east of Appletreewick, in the small side valleys formed by Skyreholme Beck and Blands Beck, which meet in the hamlet to form Fir Beck, a short tributary of the River Wharfe. Parcevall Hall is at the north end of the hamlet, and Skyreholme Beck flows through the limestone gorge of Trollers Gill just to the north. The toponym, first recorded in 1540, is of Old Norse origin, from skírr "bright" and holmr "water-meadow", and so means "bright water-meadow". Skyreholme was historically in the township of Appletreewick in the large ancient parish of Burnsall in the West Riding of Yorkshire. In the early 19th century the hamlet had a substantial population (234 in the 1841 census). The main industry was a cotton and calico mill. To serve this population a chapel of ease was built in 1837. The chapel closed in 1897, but from 1867 the building was also used as a school, which continued until 1967. The village is home to Parcevall Hall, a grade II listed building which has 24 acres (9.7 ha) of gardens with plants from around the world.

Hartlington is a small village and civil parish in the Craven district of North Yorkshire, England. At the 2011 Census, the population of the parish was around 50. Details are included in the civil parish of Hebden, North Yorkshire. It is under a mile east from the nearby village of Burnsall, which can be reached by going down Cross Hill. Hartlington is also just over a mile west of the village of Appletreewick. It is around 4 miles south-east of the small town of Grassington, and can be reached by going through the village of Hebden. Hartlington Raikes, one of the main roads in Hartlington, goes from Lower Hartlington to Upper Hartlington, to the B6265 approximately 1.5 miles away. The road then turns into Hartlington Moor Lane, which goes up to Grimwith Reservoir. Hartlington is one of the contenders for the smallest and least populous village in the Yorkshire Dales, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for its outstanding natural beauty – and even though it is small, it and the surrounding villages are at the centre of attention of hikers and tourists. Hartlington is home to Burnsall Park, which is a very popular spot for tourists and residents of the nearby towns and villages to visit and relax on the banks of the River Wharfe. In 2022, the park went viral on the social media platform TikTok, which has caused the park to receive an influx of customers.
