VII Gymnasium

Second Gymnasium (Croatian: II. gimnazija, Druga gimnazija) is a high school in Zagreb, Croatia. It operates in the Križanićeva gymnasium complex in Donji grad. After the school year 2023/24, 146 graduates of this gymnasium enrolled at an institution of higher learning in Croatia, or 94.81% of students who took up the nationwide Matura exams. The most common destinations for these students were the University of Zagreb faculties of law, medicine, economics, electrical engineering and computing, and science.

The Classical Gymnasium (Croatian: Klasična gimnazija) is a gymnasium high school (similar to a grammar school in England and Wales) situated in Zagreb, Croatia. It was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1607. In its first year it had 260 students and it operated on the basis of the Jesuit programme "Ratio atque institutio studiorum societatis Jesu".

Square of the Victims of Fascism (Croatian: Trg žrtava fašizma) is one of the central squares in Zagreb. It was designed in 1923 urban plan on the site of the former fairground that was east of Draškovića street as the new center of then new eastern part of the town that was deliberately and systematically built in the 1920s and 1930s. Four streets lead directly to the center of the square; Rački street from the northwest, Višeslavova street from the southeast, Zvonimirova street from the east, and Dukljaninova street from the northeast.

The Meštrović Pavilion (Croatian: Meštrovićev paviljon), also known as the Home of Croatian Artists (Croatian: Dom hrvatskih likovnih umjetnika) and colloquially as the Mosque (Croatian: Džamija), is a cultural venue and the official seat of the Croatian Society of Fine Artists (HDLU) located on the Square of the Victims of Fascism in central Zagreb, Croatia. Designed by Ivan Meštrović and built in 1938, it has served several functions in its lifetime. An art gallery before World War II, it was converted into a mosque under the Independent State of Croatia and was subsequently transformed into the Museum of the Revolution in post-war Yugoslavia. In 1990, it was given back to the Croatian Association of Artists. After extensive renovation, it has served as a space for exhibitions and events since 2006.

Kulušić was a concert club in Zagreb, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia), which hosted many famous international acts and all the important acts from the region. It is particularly associated with the Yugoslav new wave acts of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Many Live albums which today are part of the ex-Yugoslav music history were recorded in Kulušić. Film, Bijelo dugme and Azra recorded their live albums in Kulušić in 1981, followed by Buldožer, Haustor and Leb i sol in 1982, and Ekatarina Velika and Električni orgazam in 1986. Davor Gobac of Psihomodo Pop introduced his infamous stage undressing act in a 1983 gig in Kulušić. Bajaga i Instruktori, one of the foremost Yugoslav pop-rock bands, held their very first concert in Kulušić, on April 12, 1984.From its inception in 1966, Kulušić was run by the League of Socialist Youth of Yugoslavia's (SSOJ) SR Croatia branch (SSOH), a youth wing of the Croatian Communist League (SKH), itself the SR Croatia branch of the only political party in SFR Yugoslavia — the Yugoslav Communist League (SKJ). In 1987, the day-to-day running of the club was taken over by Tomo in der Muhlen.

The Zagreb train disaster occurred on 30 August 1974 when an express train (number 10410) traveling from Belgrade, Yugoslavia, to Dortmund, West Germany, derailed before entering Zagreb Main Station (present-day Croatia), killing 153 people. It was the worst rail accident in Yugoslavia's history to that date and remains one of the worst in Europe's history.

The Basilica of the Heart of Jesus (Croatian: Bazilika Srca Isusova) is a Roman Catholic basilica located in Palmotićeva street of Zagreb, Croatia. It is dedicated to the Sacred Heart, and was designed by the Croatian architect Janko Holjac in the neo-Baroque style. The Basilica of the Heart of Jesus is the second largest church in Zagreb, after the Zagreb Cathedral. It is used by the Jesuits.

The Croatian National Bank (Croatian: Hrvatska narodna banka or HNB; pronounced [xř̩ʋaːtskaː nǎːrodnaː bâːŋka]) is the central bank of the Republic of Croatia. HNB was established by the Constitution of Croatia which was passed by the Parliament of Croatia on 21 December 1990. Its main responsibilities are maintaining the stability of the national currency, the kuna, and ensuring general financial liquidity within the country. HNB also issues banknotes and holds the national monetary reserves. In performing its duties HNB acts as an independent institution responsible to the Parliament. The bank has a share capital of 2,500,000,000 Croatian kunas (c. US$ 450 million). HNB acts in accordance with Law on Croatian National Bank.

Croatian Nobles Square (Croatian: Trg hrvatskih velikana) is one of the central squares in Zagreb. It was designed in 1923 urban plan as entry to the then new eastern part of the town. Draškovićeva street is on the western side of the square, Martićeva street begins on the north side, while a road and tram line go through the middle of the square to the Rački street and Square of the Victims of Fascism.

Šubićeva Street (Croatian: Ulica Pavla Šubića, Šubićeva ulica) is a street in Zagreb, Croatia. It connects Eugen Kvaternik Square with Petar Krešimir IV Square. It is located in the Zagreb district of Donji grad. Šubićeva Street is four-lane in its entire length with tram tracks between the roadways. Due to the tram tracks left-turns are forbidden at some intersections. The street intersects Vjekoslav Heinzel Avenue and Maksimirska Street at the Kvaternik Square, Zvonimirova Street, and Branimirova Avenue at the Petar Krešimir IV Square. As it passes the square, it changes its name to Marin Držić Avenue.

Operation Labrador was a false flag operation carried out by the Yugoslav Air Force's Counterintelligence Service (KOS) in the Croatian capital city of Zagreb during the early stages of the Croatian War of Independence. It was devised as a series of terrorist attacks intended to create an image of Croatia as a pro-fascist state. Two bombings were carried out on 19 August 1991, with one at the Jewish Community Centre and a second near Jewish graves at the Mirogoj Cemetery; there were no casualties. Additional attacks targeted the national railway network and were designed to implicate the Croatian President. Operation Labrador was complemented by Operation Opera — a propaganda campaign devised by the KOS to feed disinformation to the media. Further activities of Operation Labrador were abandoned in September, after Croatian authorities captured the Yugoslav Air Force regional headquarters in Zagreb, and confiscated documents related to the operation. The authorities took nearly a month to analyze the captured documents, allowing time for the principal agents involved in the bombings to flee. Fifteen others were arrested in connection with the attack, but they were subsequently released in a prisoner exchange. Five KOS agents involved in Operation Labrador were tried in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on terrorism charges and acquitted. Croatian authorities captured two KOS agents who were part of the operation and tried them along with seven other agents who were tried in absentia. Those in custody were acquitted, while those tried in absentia were convicted. The existence of Operation Labrador was further confirmed through the testimony of a former KOS agent, Major Mustafa Čandić, during the trial of Slobodan Milošević at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in 2002.

The assassination of Ivo Pukanić happened on 23 October 2008 in Zagreb, Croatia, when a remote-detonation car bomb fitted on a motorcycle outside the Nacional newspaper's premises killed the owner of the newspaper, Ivo Pukanić, and Niko Franjić, its marketing manager, and injured two more people. The explosion occurred in the centre of the capital at 18:10 local time (16:10 GMT). Numerous arrests of suspects around the country followed. A subsequent police investigation accused Croatian and Serbian organized crime groups of perpetrating the bombing. Eight people suspected of having connections to organised crime groups were indicted. Six were later convicted over the murders with prison terms ranging from 15 to 40 years.
