Sheering

Newman's End is a hamlet in the civil parish of Matching, and the Epping Forest district of Essex, England. The hamlet, at the north of the parish, is less than 1 mile (1.6 km) north-west from Matching village and the parish church of St Mary, and 1 mile south-east from the village of Sheering, The M11 motorway is 1 mile to the west, with Junction 7 the closest access 5 miles (8 km) to the south-west.

Down Hall is a Victorian country house and estate near Hatfield Heath in the English county of Essex, close to its border with Hertfordshire. It is surrounded by 110 acres (0.45 km2) of woodland, parkland and landscaped gardens, some of which is protected by the Essex Wildlife Trust.

Sawbridgeworth railway station is on the West Anglia Main Line serving the town of Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, England. It is 26 miles 57 chains (43.0 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Harlow Mill and Bishop's Stortford stations. Its three-letter station code is SAW. The waiting room was added in 1960 by H.H. Powell of the British Railways Eastern Region Architect's Department with H.E. Green as the Project Architect. The ticket office was added in 1972 by S. Hardy with Project Architect P.H. Thomas. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Greater Anglia. Both platforms were extended to accommodate 12-coach trains in 2011. The station adjoins Lower Sheering in neighbouring Essex, and part of the station was previously in Essex.

Sawbridgeworth Marsh is a 6.3-hectare (16-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) near Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire, apart from a small area in the north which is in Essex. It is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust. The planning authorities are East Hertfordshire District Council and Uttlesford District Council.The site is a river valley marsh close to the River Stort, which has a varied wetland flora. Grazing and cutting of the marsh in rotation maintain biological diversity. The site also has an important wetland fauna and many moth species. Uncommon plants include marsh willowherb, marsh valerian and marsh arrow-grass, and drainage ditches and two ponds have a rich aquatic life.The site is always open and there is access from Hallingbury Road.

Great Hallingbury is a village and a civil parish in the Uttlesford District of Essex, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 713. It is near the town of Bishop's Stortford, and the M11 motorway. Great Hallingbury contains houses from the Tudor period to modern. Decrease in population has resulted in the closure of the village school; its building and its accompanying playing field still exist, but are converted to housing and a grazing field. Great Hallingbury has a church dedicated to St Giles. Village groups include a Brownie club and the WI which meet in the Village Hall. There is an annual flower show organised by either Great Hallingbury or Little Hallingbury.William Parker, 4th Baron Monteagle, best known for his role in the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, died in the village on 1 July 1622.At the edge of the village is the ancient Royal Hunting Forest and National Trust property Hatfield Forest. On 22 December 1999, Korean Air Cargo Flight 8509 crashed into the Forest near Great Hallingbury shortly after take-off from nearby London Stansted Airport. All four crew on board were killed.

Housham Tye is a hamlet in the civil parish of Matching, and the Epping Forest district of Essex, England. The hamlet is 1 mile (1.6 km) south-west from Matching village and the parish church of St Mary, and 650 yards (600 m) south-west from the village of Matching Tye, separated by the woodland of Matching Park. Conjoined to Housham Tye is the hamlet of Carter's Green. The M11 motorway is one mile to the west, over which is the town of Harlow. Junction 7 of the M11 is 3 miles (5 km) south-west, through which runs the A414 road to the county town of Chelmsford 15 miles (20 km) to the east.

It is 2.3 miles (3.7 km) east of Harlow, 2.9 Miles (4.8 km) south-east of Sawbridgeworth and 6.3 miles (10.4 km) north-east of Epping.The actor and comedian Rik Mayall was born at Matching Tye.
