Housham Tye

Matching Tye is a village which forms part of the civil parish of Matching, in the County of Essex, England. It is 2.3 miles (3.7 km) east of Harlow, 2.9 Miles (4.8 km) south-east of Sawbridgeworth and 6.3 miles (10.4 km) north-east of Epping.The actor and comedian Rik Mayall was born at Matching Tye.

The M11 motorway is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the west, over which is the Harlow suburb of Church Langley. Junction 7 of the M11 is 2 miles (3.2 km) southwest, through which runs the A414 road to the county town of Chelmsford 15 miles (24 km) to the east. Settlements within 1 mile include the hamlets of Hastingwood (southwest), Foster Street (west) and Magdalen Laver (southeast). Magdalen Laver is a village and a civil parish in the Epping Forest district, in the county of Essex, England. Magdalen Laver is east of Harlow and of close proximity to the M11 motorway. Magdalen Laver has a village hall and a church called St Mary Magdalen. John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales, described Magdalen Laver between 1870 and 1872 as: "A parish in Epping district, Essex; 4¼ miles NW of Ongar, and 4 SE of Harlow r. station."In the same description, Wilson states that the total population at the time was 213.

Sheering village is situated 2.8 miles (5 km) north-east from Harlow, 4.5 miles (7 km) south of Bishop's Stortford and 25 miles (40 km) north-east from London. The Stort Navigation to the west has a lock at Sheering Mill. Lower Sheering, adjacent to Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire and its railway station, forms part of the civil parish. Sheering village has approximately 350 households. There is a Church of England primary school and a public house - The Cock Inn, a general store with a post office, a sandwich shop and a hairdresser's. Bus services connect Sheering to Harlow and Chelmsford. The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin on Church Lane, Sheering is a Grade I listed building. Four other buildings in the parish are Grade II* listed.

High Laver ( LAY-vər) is a village and civil parish in the Epping Forest district of the county of Essex, England. The parish is noted for its association with the philosopher John Locke.

Foster Street is a hamlet in the North Weald Bassett civil parish of the Epping Forest district in the English county of Essex. A non-conformist burying ground was established in 1677 by William Woodward, for the congregation that he was the leader of in the Harlow area. Among the burials are the radical editor Benjamin Flower, his wife Eliza, and their two daughters, the composer Eliza Flower and the poet Sarah Fuller Adams. The burial ground remained in use until 1979.

Matching Green is a village and the largest settlement in the civil parish of Matching, in Essex, England. It is 3.0 miles (4.8 km) east of Harlow, 4.5 miles (7.2 km) north-west of Chipping Ongar and 3.9 miles (6.3 km) south-east of Sawbridgeworth. Matching Green has one of the largest village greens in Essex. The green is almost triangular in shape, covers 5.6 hectares (13.8 acres), contains the local cricket field, and is edged by mainly detached cottages and houses dating from the 14th to 19th century, twenty-eight of which are listed buildings. The village public house is The Chequers at the western edge of the green. The site of the former RAF Matching lies to the east of village.

St Mary & St Hugh's Church is a Church of England parish church in Churchgate Street, Old Harlow in Essex, England. The church is of medieval origin and was given Grade II listed status on 5 July 1950. The church has a cruciform plan with a tower at the crossing with a tall shingled broach spire. It was completely restored by architect Henry Woodyer, 1878–80.
