Overtown is a village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located to the east of the River Clyde, about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Wishaw. Originally developed as a mining village in the 19th century, its population declined after the closure of the coal mines and the associated railways in the 1950s.The village only has a few buildings of note, Clyde Valley High School, which is located to the North-West, and Overtown Primary School. Overtown also has a community centre, a parish Church which serves as a focal point for the community and a small number of independent shops and takeaway restaurants. A "First Glasgow" (the former "Hutchison") bus depot is located in the village. The A71 road, that links Edinburgh with Ayrshire, passes through Overtown. The road is the main street of the village. It is located on the edge of the Clyde Valley, and is only 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) away from Garrion Bridge. The West Coast Main Line also passes through the village, but no passenger service trains stop there.

Overtown railway station, also known as Overtown Road railway station, served the village of Overtown, North Lanarkshire, Scotland from 1843 to 1942 on the Wishaw and Coltness Railway.

Dalserf is a small village of only a few streets in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It lies on the River Clyde, 2 miles (3 km) east of Larkhall and 7 miles (11 km) south east of Hamilton. Dalserf is also a traditional civil parish. It includes Ashgill, Larkhall, Netherburn, Rosebank and Shawsburn. The parish has a population of 17,985 (mostly from Larkhall's near 15,500 population). The name of the village comes from the Gaelic dail, meaning "field", and Serf, the name of a 6th-century saint who dwelt here. Of old, it was also known as Machan or Machanshire, from the Gaelic Maghan meaning "small plain". The village kirk, built in 1655, is dedicated to Saint Serf, and may be built on the site of an early church founded by him. The church dates from The Killing Time, when the rebel Covenanters were persecuted for their faith, and was a centre of Covenanter activity. John M'Millan, the controversial preacher and first post-Revolution minister of the United Societies, is buried in the kirkyard. The kirk is Category A listed. A ferry once operated across the Clyde at Dalserf, although this has long since been superseded by the nearby Garrion Bridge. Dalserf railway station once served the village.

Garrion Bridge is a small hamlet spanning the border between North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located on the banks of the Clyde Valley, 18 miles (29 km) south-east of Glasgow. The hamlet is most commonly associated with the nearby town of Wishaw.

Mauldslie Woods is an area of woodland close to the town of Carluke, South Lanarkshire. It is one of six woodlands which form the Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve, the others being Cartland Craigs, Chatelherault, Cleghorn Glen, Falls of Clyde and Lower Nethan Gorges. It stands on the estate of Mauldslie Castle, whose most notable resident was John Wightman of Mauldslie, Lord Provost of Edinburgh 1721/23.The woodland was cleared in the 1800s, but has since been replanted, including one section planted as orchard for apples, pears and plums. The site is managed by South Lanarkshire Council, with aim of restoring the native woodland. The aim is to use the site to demonstrate methods of woodland management that promote biodiversity alongside sustainable timber extraction.

Mauldslie Castle West Lodge is a 19th-century gatehouse in Dalserf, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. A Category A listed building, it was completed in 1861, believed to be the work of David Bryce.The adjoining Mauldslie Bridge, a separate listing, was built for James Hogier, of Newlands, to serve Mauldslie Castle, built by Thomas, 5th Earl of Hyndford, in 1793. The castle was demolished in 1935. A seated-dog motif above the gate, which appears with an inscription of "Aye Ready", can also be found in the garden of the Marna gate lodge, to the south. That also is a listed structure.Hogier's initials appear on the eastern elevation of the gatehouse.

Mauldslie Bridge is a three-segmental-arch bridge in Dalserf, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It crosses the River Clyde between the A72 road and the former location of Mauldslie Castle. Built in 1861, and now a Category A listed structure, the bridge is believed to be the work of David Bryce. Mauldslie Castle West Lodge and archway stands at the western end of the bridge. They are listed separately at Historic Environment Scotland.The bridge was built for James Hozier, 2nd Baron Newlands, to serve Mauldslie Castle, built by the Thomas, 5th Earl of Hyndford, in 1793. The castle was demolished in 1935. A seated-dog motif above the gate, which appears with an inscription of "Aye Ready", can also be found in the garden of the Marna gate lodge, to the south. That also is a listed structure.Winston Churchill has crossed the bridge, to attend gatherings of Scottish gentry.Repairs began on the bridge in 2019, with the hope of preserving it for future generations.

Mauldslie Castle, part of the Mauldslie Estate, was located in Dalserf, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The nearby village of Rosebank was established before 1816 by the estate's workers.

Gowkthrapple is a small neighbourhood of Wishaw, Scotland, situated around 3⁄4 miles (1.2 km) from the town centre. The name "Gowkthrapple" is a Scots compound word made up of "gowk", meaning "idiot" or "cuckoo" and "thrapple", meaning "throat" or "strangle". One theory of how the community gained its name is that there was a woodland here which was notable for cuckoos. Gowkthrapple can be entered off of Castlehill Road which runs the length of the estate. Formerly an industrial area, associated with the Pather Iron and Steel Works and then Smith's clock factory, which opened in 1951. This closed in the 1970s, although the premises remain standing on Smith Avenue and have been reused as Garrion Business Park. In 2016, Gowkthrapple had an estimated population of 1330.

Greenhead is a small suburb of the town of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is situated to the south of Cambusnethan, and to the west of Waterloo. Even though this part of Wishaw is mainly residential housing, Greenhead does have a few places of note, such as Cambusnethan Cemetery and Greenhead Moss Community Nature Park.Since it is close to Wishaw Main Street, Greenhead has no shops. The suburb can be accessed either from the A721 or A722 roads.

South Wishaw Parish Church is a Parish church of the Church of Scotland, serving the Southern area of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire(stretching from the Main Street down to the banks of the River Clyde - including Pather, Netherton, and the southern part of the town centre). It is within the Church of Scotland's Presbytery of Hamilton.

Pather is a suburb of Wishaw, Scotland and was initially built as a council estate. It is situated around ½ miles (0.8 km) from the town centre. Pather can be entered by vehicle from Caledonian Road into either Lomond Drive or Tarbert Avenue. Pedestrian access is also available from Dimsdale at the top of the estate and from Thornlie Gill onto Lomond Drive as well as at The Tunnel area on Caladonian Road.
