Overtown, North Lanarkshire

Waterloo is a small suburb in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located on the A71 Edinburgh-Irvine road. Originally a village in its own right, it is now considered to be a suburb of Wishaw. It does not have many local services of note, however, it is home to the Indian Restaurant, The Pink Turban.

Overtown railway station, also known as Overtown Road railway station, served the village of Overtown, North Lanarkshire, Scotland from 1843 to 1942 on the Wishaw and Coltness Railway.

Greenhead is a small suburb of the town of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is situated to the south of Cambusnethan, and to the west of Waterloo. Even though this part of Wishaw is mainly residential housing, Greenhead does have a few places of note, such as Cambusnethan Cemetery and Greenhead Moss Community Nature Park.Since it is close to Wishaw Main Street, Greenhead has no shops. The suburb can be accessed either from the A721 or A722 roads.

South Wishaw Parish Church is a Parish church of the Church of Scotland, serving the Southern area of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire(stretching from the Main Street down to the banks of the River Clyde - including Pather, Netherton, and the southern part of the town centre). It is within the Church of Scotland's Presbytery of Hamilton.

Gowkthrapple is a small neighbourhood of Wishaw, Scotland, situated around 3⁄4 miles (1.2 km) from the town centre. The name "Gowkthrapple" is a Scots compound word made up of "gowk", meaning "idiot" or "cuckoo" and "thrapple", meaning "throat" or "strangle". One theory of how the community gained its name is that there was a woodland here which was notable for cuckoos. Gowkthrapple can be entered off of Castlehill Road which runs the length of the estate. Formerly an industrial area, associated with the Pather Iron and Steel Works and then Smith's clock factory, which opened in 1951. This closed in the 1970s, although the premises remain standing on Smith Avenue and have been reused as Garrion Business Park. In 2016, Gowkthrapple had an estimated population of 1330.

Pather is a suburb of Wishaw, Scotland and was initially built as a council estate. It is situated around ½ miles (0.8 km) from the town centre. Pather can be entered by vehicle from Caledonian Road into either Lomond Drive or Tarbert Avenue. Pedestrian access is also available from Dimsdale at the top of the estate and from Thornlie Gill onto Lomond Drive as well as at The Tunnel area on Caladonian Road. Back road walks to and from Overtown and Gowkthrapple are also available. Pather Park and St Thomas' Church

St Ignatius Church is a parish church of the Roman Catholic Church, located in the town of Wishaw in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is within the Diocese of Motherwell. The church building was constructed in 1865, and is a category A listed building. It was designed by George Goldie in a Gothic revival style. The Church now holds about 1100 residents every Saturday and Sunday. Prominent priests since the sixties include Mgr O'Donell, Fr Trench, Fr McGlinchey, Fr Morris, Canon McGovern.

Dalserf is a small village of only a few streets in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It lies on the River Clyde, 2 miles (3 km) east of Larkhall and 7 miles (11 km) south east of Hamilton. Dalserf is also a traditional civil parish. It includes Ashgill, Larkhall, Netherburn, Rosebank and Shawsburn. The parish has a population of 17,985 (mostly from Larkhall's near 15,500 population). The name of the village comes from the Gaelic dail, meaning "field", and Serf, the name of a 6th-century saint who dwelt here. Of old, it was also known as Machan or Machanshire, from the Gaelic Maghan meaning "small plain". The village kirk, built in 1655, is dedicated to Saint Serf, and may be built on the site of an early church founded by him. The church dates from The Killing Time, when the rebel Covenanters were persecuted for their faith, and was a centre of Covenanter activity. John M'Millan, the controversial preacher and first post-Revolution minister of the United Societies, is buried in the kirkyard. The kirk is Category A listed. A ferry once operated across the Clyde at Dalserf, although this has long since been superseded by the nearby Garrion Bridge. Dalserf railway station once served the village.

Wishaw (listen) (Scots: Wishae or Wisha (listen); Scottish Gaelic: Camas Neachdain) is a large town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, on the edge of the Clyde Valley, 15 miles (24 km) south-east of Glasgow city centre. The Burgh of Wishaw was formed in 1855 within Lanarkshire. it formed a joint large burgh with its neighbour Motherwell from 1920 until its dissolution when Scottish local authorities were restructured in 1975, and was then in Motherwell district within the Strathclyde region until 1996. The town is part of the Motherwell and Wishaw constituency. It has the postal code of ML2 and the dialling code 01698.

Garrion Bridge is a small hamlet spanning the border between North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is located on the banks of the Clyde Valley, 18 miles (29 km) south-east of Glasgow. The hamlet is most commonly associated with the nearby town of Wishaw.

Wishaw South was one of two stations that served the town of Wishaw in Scotland between 1841 and 1958, the other station being Wishaw Central. It was on the Caledonian Main Line, which was later known as the West Coast Main Line.

Wishaw railway station is a railway station in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and lies on the Wishaw Deviation Line just south of the single track link line which connects to the West Coast Main Line at Shieldmuir.
