Nyanga is a township in the Western Cape, South Africa. Its name in Xhosa means "moon" and it is one of the oldest black townships in Cape Town. It was established as a result of the migrant labour system. In 1948 black migrants were forced to settle in Nyanga as Langa had become too small. Nyanga was one of the poorest places in Cape Town and is still is one of the most dangerous parts of Cape Town. In 2001 its unemployment rate was estimated at being approximately 56% and HIV/AIDS is a huge community issue. Nyanga is situated 20 km (12 mi) from Cape Town along the N2 highway, close to the Cape Town International Airport and next to the townships of Gugulethu and Crossroads.

The Gugulethu massacre was a mass shooting which occurred on the afternoon of 2 November 2020. It took place in a house in NY78, Gugulethu, Cape Town, South Africa and resulted in the death of eight people between the ages of 30 and 50 years old. One additional victim was injured in the shooting. Seven of the nine victims died on scene (3 women and 4 men) whilst an eighth victim died later in hospital.Local residents reported to the media that the shooting was related to a gang conflict between the Guptas and the Boko Haram street gangs. Other reports by local residents indicated that the killing was conducted by the Boko Haram gang targeting a local woman, killed on scene, who refused to pay extortion money to the gang. Whilst the Gugulethu Development Forum stated that the killings were "drug-related."

Mzoli's was a butchery in Gugulethu, a township on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa. Since Mzoli's opened in early 2003, the restaurant had become a popular gathering spot for Cape Town residents and a tourist attraction. Amongst Gugulethu's residents, Mzoli's Place has a reputation for public drunkenness and disrespect for the local community. Mzoli's is named after the founder and owner, Mzoli Ngcawuzele. The restaurant closed indefinitely in May 2021 partly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gugulethu is a township in the Western Cape, South Africa and is 15 km from Cape Town. Its name is a contraction of igugu lethu, which is Xhosa for our pride. The township was established along with Nyanga in the 1960s.

Thunder City was an aircraft operating and maintenance company based at the Cape Town International Airport in Cape Town, South Africa. It was well known for owning the largest civilian collection of former military jet aircraft in the world. These aircraft were used to perform in airshows and could also be chartered by the general public for recreational flights, including going supersonic and climbing to altitudes around 50,000 feet. Following a fatal accident in 2009 in which an English Electric Lightning crashed at an airshow, the company ceased flying operations after the accident investigation found major shortcomings in its maintenance programme.The company's other activities included upgrading older models of the Aerospatiale Puma helicopter with modern avionics and renovating airframes and engines.

Cape Town International Airport (IATA: CPT, ICAO: FACT) is the primary international airport serving the city of Cape Town, and is the second-busiest airport in South Africa and fourth-busiest in Africa. Located approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the city center, the airport was opened in 1954 to replace Cape Town's previous airport, Wingfield Aerodrome. Cape Town International Airport is the only airport in the Cape Town metropolitan area that offers scheduled passenger services. The airport has domestic and international terminals, linked by a common central terminal. The airport has direct flights from South Africa's other two main urban areas, Johannesburg and Durban, as well as flights to smaller centers in South Africa. Internationally, it has direct flights to several destinations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the United States. The air route between Cape Town and Johannesburg was the world's ninth-busiest air route in 2011 with an estimated 4.5 million passengers.

The Brown's Farm area is a neighborhood located within the Philippi area of Cape Town's Cape Flats region, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The urban area is densely populated and contains many informal homes. The 2011 national census recorded 71,518 residents living in the area.

Heideveld Secondary School is a school in Cape Town, Western Cape, in a suburb called Heideveld in South Africa. The school is considered to be a widely known school due to location next to a city main road and train tracks and also one of the first e-Learning school's in the Western Cape. The education system mostly focuses on academics providing both practical and theoretical studies. The secondary school also has clubs one can join from sports, art, musical, tech and other departments from hiking and debating. After school educational programs are present for further assistance in study's.

Manenberg is a township of Cape Town, South Africa, that was created by the apartheid government for low-income Coloured families in the Cape Flats in 1966 as a result of the forced removal campaign by the National Party. It has an estimated population of 52,000 residents. The area consists of rows of semi-detached houses and project-like flats, known as "korre". The township is located about 20 km away from the city centre of Cape Town. It is separated from neighbouring Nyanga and Gugulethu townships by a railway line to the east and from Hanover Park by the Sand Industria industrial park to the west and Heideveld to the north. The northern part of Manenberg has wealthy people that are mostly Muslims. The rest of Manenberg has poor people that are mostly associated with Christianity.

The Philippi Stadium is located in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa and is used for soccer matches. The Phillipi Stadium precinct was developed as a practice venue and fan park for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The cost is estimated at R90 million and will include retail and commercial components. The venue which currently seats 2,000 and includes an athletics and cycle track, will be replaced by the new 10,000 seat football stadium. Vasco da Gama have moved some Premier Soccer League matches to the new stadium since its completion.

Bishop Lavis is a suburb of Cape Town, located 15 kilometres (9 mi) east of the city centre near Cape Town International Airport. It had, as of 2001, a population of 44,419 people, of whom 97% described themselves as Coloured, and 90% spoke Afrikaans while 9% spoke English. The official 2011 census gave the population figure as 26,482.Bishop Lavis is one of many townships that was established in the Western Cape Province by the country's reigning regime at the introduction of apartheid in South Africa. During this period non-white citizens were moved from their lands and homes across the region (because it was abruptly designated for "whites only"), into these townships.

Edith Stephens Wetland Park is a nature reserve for wetlands and fynbos, located in the city of Cape Town, South Africa. The park consists of a large seasonal wetland, with surrounding stretches of Cape Flats Sand Fynbos and Cape Flats Dune Strandveld vegetation. Seven Red Data plant species have been recorded here as well as nearly a hundred species of bird, several amphibians (including a population of endangered Western Leopard Toad), reptiles and mammals. The 39-hectare (96-acre) park was originally built around a smaller piece of land that was donated by the botanist Edith Stephens. She intended it to preserve the rare Isoetes capensis plant, which exists nowhere else on Earth. After subsequent additions to take it to its present size, the resulting park was named after her. The park is run by the City of Cape Town in partnership with the local community. It now has an Environmental Education Centre, boardwalk trails, a picnic area, a bird hide and a garden of medicinal plants.
