Piekary Śląskie ([pʲɛˈkarɨ ˈɕlɔ̃skʲɛ]) (Silesian: Piekary) is a city in Silesia in southern Poland, near Katowice. The north district of the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union – metropolis with the population of 2 million. Located in the Silesian Highlands, on the Brynica river (tributary of the Vistula). It is situated in the Silesian Voivodeship. Piekary Śląskie is one of the cities of the 2.7 million conurbation – Katowice urban area and within a greater Silesian metropolitan area populated by about 5,294,000 people. The population of the city is 54,226 (2021).Piekary is a spiritual center of Upper Silesia, a Marian shrine which is a pilgrimage site for thousands of the faithful, and a mining town.

The Basilica of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew is a Roman Catholic church in Piekary Śląskie, Poland. There was a church in Piekary Śląskie from the fourteenth century. The current church, designed by Daniel Grötschel in Neo-Romanesqe style, was completed in 1849. On 1 December 1962, Pope John XXIII elevated the church to the status of minor basilica.

The Witczak Winding Tower (Polish: Szyb Witczak) is a peripheral winding tower of the liquidated Centrum Coal Mine in Bytom, Poland. The winding tower stands at 35 meters tall, and is located in the Rozbark district of the city—some 3km from the main structure of the former Centrum Coal Mine. Although the winding tower is not a registered landmark on the Polish national Registry of Cultural Property (Polish: Rejestr zabytków), protection over it was established by the Bytom City Council in 2009.

Wymysłów [vɨˈmɨswuf] (former German name Wimslau) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Świerklaniec, within Tarnowskie Góry County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 9 kilometres (6 mi) north-west of Tarnowskie Góry and 17 km (11 mi) north of the regional capital Katowice. The village has a population of 572.

Gmina Bobrowniki is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Będzin County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Bobrowniki, which lies approximately 11 kilometres (7 mi) north-west of Będzin and 15 km (9 mi) north of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina covers an area of 51.99 square kilometres (20.1 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 12,077.

Żabie Doły is a nature and landscape protected area in Silesia, Poland. The Żabie Doły complex is located entirely within the Silesian Metropolis and encompasses land heavily altered by human activity. The protected area covers 2.262 km² . At Żabie Doły, 129 species of birds have been identified, including 70 nesting species and 17 species rare in the region. Other fauna and flora is also well represented. The name ""Żabie Doły" can be roughly translated as "Frog Ditches".

Bytom Castle (Polish: Zamek Książąt Śląskich w Bytomiu) is a castle in Bytom, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. The castle was probably built between 1284 and 1299. The princely residence was built on a rectangular plan and was a multi-storey building. The castle in its main part was built of stone, but some buildings were made of wood. Behind the stone gate was a fortified courtyard with a well. For a period in medieval times until the mid-14th century it was the seat of the Dukes of Bytom. In the following centuries the castle was completely demolished and the building blocks derived from it were used in the construction of another.

Bytom Synagogue or Beuthen Synagogue was a synagogue in Beuthen, in the Prussian Province of Silesia (present-day Bytom, Poland), a border–town between Germany and the Second Polish Republic prior to German invasion of Poland in World War II. After the plebiscite of 1922, the border passed just east of Beuthen, so that neighboring Katowice was in Poland.

Mater Dolorosa (in English: Crying or Sorrowing Mother) Cemetery is a historical cemetery in Bytom, Poland. Its origins date to the 19th century, with a Neo-Gothic chapel, designed by Hugo Heer, dating from 1882. It is the most important cemetery in the city, and has been designed as a monument since 1987. The cemetery is situated at the junction of Jainty, Kwietniewskiego and Piekarska streets, Mater Dolorosa Cemetery is Bytom's most important necropolis.Its monuments have been recorded in a video 'walking tour'.During a 2009 vote the cemetery was voted as one of the "Seven Architectural Wonders of the Silesian Voivodeship."

The Sleeping Lion (Polish: Lew śpiący, German: Schlafender Löwe) is a monument located in the market square, Bytom, Poland. The monument has become one of Bytom's most notable landmarks.

Market Square (Polish: Rynek) is a central feature of the Śródmieście district in the city of Bytom, Poland. This market square, the main one in the city, dates to the Middle Ages. It has been rebuilt several times. Notable landmarks on the market square include the Bytom City Hall, and the Sleeping Lion statue (Lew śpiący, Sterbender Löwe). During a 2009 vote the market square was voted as one of the "Seven Architectural Wonders of the Silesian Voivodeship."
