Pilgrims' Cross, Holcombe Moor

The Alden Valley is a small valley on the eastern edge of the West Pennine Moors, west of Helmshore in Rossendale, Lancashire, England. In the 14th century it was part of the Earl of Lincoln's hunting park. By 1840 it was home to about twenty farms, largely involved in cattle rearing, although most inhabitants were also involved with the production of textiles, which quickly developed during the Industrial Revolution into the building of textile mills. These have now been demolished and the valley is dominated by sheep grazing, with three working farms and a number of smallholdings.To the north and north-west is Musbury Tor, to the south-west at the head of the valley is Scholes Height, to the west is Musden Head Moor and Burnt Hill. To the south is Bull Hill and the Holcombe Moor, to the south-east is Beetle Hill. Alden Brook forms from several streams draining Wet Moss on the north-western slopes of Scholes Height, which join after flowing through several gullies at an area known as Alden Ratchers. It is the last of the River Ogden's tributaries to join before it joins the River Irwell.

It is situated on Harcles Hill near Ramsbottom 1100 feet (335 metres) above sea level. Due to its proximity to the village of Holcombe, Harcles Hill is more commonly known as Holcombe Hill and the monument as Holcombe or Peel Tower.Construction began soon after Peel’s death in 1850, and the monument was officially opened on 9th September 1852. It cost £1000 to build and stands 128 feet tall.

Musbury Tor or Tor Hill is a flat-topped hill in south-east Lancashire, England. It overlooks the village of Helmshore and separates Alden Valley to its south and Musbury Valley to its north. Mainly consisting of farmland and pastures, its summit is 340.1 metres (1,116 ft) above sea level. The hill is a prominent landmark and can be seen from much of Helmshore and is often colloquially referred to as ‘the Tor’ by the local population. 'Tor View' is a name shared by several houses and a local Special School.

The Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force (GMACF) is the county cadet force for Greater Manchester, which forms part of the wider Army Cadet Force, a youth organisation in the United Kingdom that offers learning and experiences around a military training theme. It is home to between 1400-1750 cadets and 200-230 adult volunteers in 45-47 detachments.

Darul Uloom Al Arabiya Al Islamiyya (Arabic: دار العلوم العربية الإسلامية), better known as Darul Uloom Bury, was established in 1979 and is the oldest Islamic seminary in the United Kingdom. Located in Holcombe, Bury, it is based on the Dars-e-Nizami syllabus found throughout the world. It was founded by the late Hadhrat Moulana Yusuf Motala.

The Musbury Valley is a small valley in the Helmshore area of Rossendale Valley, Lancashire. Musbury Brook flows through its length, and its south side is flanked and dominated by Musbury Tor. In the 14th century it was part of the Earl of Lincoln's hunting park. Most of the Musbury valley is now sheep grazing pasture. To the south is Musbury Tor and Alden Valley; to the north-west is Musbury Heights and, beyond, the Grane Valley. Beginning as Long Grain Water on Musden Head Moor, the stream becomes Musbury Brook after its confluence with Short Grain Water. It flows in a north-westerly direction to join the River Ogden, a tributary of the River Irwell.

Holcombe is a village in Ramsbottom ward, Metropolitan Borough of Bury, in Greater Manchester, England. It is situated south of Haslingden, east of Edgworth, west of Ramsbottom, and north of Tottington. The name comes from the Celtic cwm meaning valley, and the Old English hol, meaning deep or hollow.

Chatterton is a small village in the southern part of the Rossendale Valley, Lancashire, England. It is half a mile north of Ramsbottom town centre on the A676 between Bolton and Edenfield. For local government purposes, it receives services from Rossendale Borough Council and Lancashire County Council. Nearby are the village of Stubbins and the hamlet of Strongstry. Running alongside the village separating it from Strongstry is the River Irwell. Much of the land to the west of the village is in the care of the National Trust and consists of hillside pasture and woodland leading up to Holcombe Moor and Peel Tower. Parkland at Chatterton was given to the people of the district of Ramsbottom as a peace memorial by the Porritt family.

Ebenezer Cottage, also known as The Shell House, was a domestic residence on Broad Lane in Rochdale, historically in Lancashire, now within Greater Manchester, England. In 1936, its owner, retired mill operator John Halstead, began decorating the building's exterior with various small items, including shells, bottles, teapots, broken tiles, picture frames, ornaments and other bric-à-brac. It became something of a local landmark, but after Halstead's death in 1940, the new owners of the property restored the house to its original façade.

Helmshore railway station served the village of Helmshore, Rossendale, Lancashire between 1848 and 1966.

Holcombe Brook railway station was the terminus of the Bury to Holcombe Brook Line in England and served the village of Holcombe Brook in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury.

Stubbins railway station served the village of Stubbins, Rossendale, Lancashire, England. Opened by the East Lancashire Railway in 1847 on their line from Bury Bolton Street into Rossendale, it was situated next to the junction of the lines toward Accrington and to Rawtenstall and Bacup, but only had platforms on the latter route. It closed to passengers in 1972, when the Bury to Rawtenstall service was withdrawn by British Rail, although the line through it remained open for coal traffic until December 1980. The ELR has since reopened the line as a tourist railway, but the station here has not been reinstated.
