The Purnell School was a progressive private all-girls boarding high school located in Pottersville, within Bedminster, New Jersey, about an hour and one-half west of New York City, and two hours north of Philadelphia. Purnell School was a member of the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. The school was accredited in 1973 by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools. The school officially closed following the 2020–21 academic school year citing "“challenges related to the competitive landscape’’.As of the 2017–18 school year, the school had an enrollment of 57 students and 15 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 3.8:1. The school's student body was 61.4% (35) White, 26.3% (15) Black, 7.0% (4) Hispanic and 5.3% (3) Asian.

The Lamington River, known as the Black River upstream of Pottersville, is a tributary of the North Branch Raritan River in central New Jersey in the United States.

Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center is a botanical garden and public park in Chester Township, New Jersey. The house and garden, listed using its historic name, Merchiston Farm, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1989 for its significance as the home of the American landscape architect Martha Brookes Hutcheson and her landscaping of the property.

Hacklebarney State Park is a state park of the U.S. state of New Jersey, located between Long Valley and Chester in Morris County. The park is managed by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry. Other parks in the Black River region include the Black River Wildlife Management Area and the Black River County Park.

The Sybase Match Play Championship was a women's professional golf tournament for three seasons on the LPGA Tour, held at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, New Jersey. First played in 2010, it was the only match play format event on the LPGA Tour schedule. The previous match play tournament was the HSBC Women's World Match Play Championship, played from 2005 to 2007, with all three events at Hamilton Farm. The title sponsor was Sybase, an enterprise software and services company headquartered in Dublin, California. It previously sponsored the Sybase Classic, a stroke play event on the LPGA Tour also held in the New York-New Jersey area through 2009. Sybase was acquired by SAP in 2010, which elected not to continue as title sponsor in 2013.Azahara Muñoz won her first title on the LPGA Tour at the final edition in 2012.

The Black River, known as the Lamington River downstream of Pottersville, is a tributary of the North Branch Raritan River in central New Jersey in the United States.The Black River starts near that of the North Branch Raritan River, several miles west of Morristown, rising out of Sunset Lake in Mine Hill New Jersey. It flows through the Black River Wildlife Management Area, the Black River County Park, and Hacklebarney State Park. It flows through Chester, New Jersey and the town middle school is named after it.

The Kline Farmhouse, also known as Cold Spring Cottage, is located on a 12-acre (4.9 ha) farm along County Route 517 (Old Turnpike Road), north of Oldwick in Tewksbury Township of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Built by Jacob Kline in the 1790s, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 11, 1984, for its significance in agriculture, architecture and settlement. Also known as the Beavers House, it was previously documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1966. It was later listed as a contributing property of the Oldwick Historic District in 1988.

The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 08858. As of the 2000 United States census, the population for ZIP Code Tabulation Area 08858 was 177. The 2010 census data indicate a population of 144, comprising 68 housing units.Oldwick was formerly known as New Germantown. It has a mixture of Victorian, Federal, New England and Georgian style homes, and is protected by historic legislation. Historic sites within Oldwick include the Kline Farmhouse and the Oldwick Historic District. Zion Lutheran Church in Oldwick was the oldest Lutheran parish in New Jersey. Justus Falckner of New York, the first Lutheran clergyman ever ordained in America, led the worshipers at the founding ceremony on August 1, 1714. The noted German Lutheran pastor, Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, was a member of this congregation from 1759 to 1760.Oldwick is the corporate headquarters of the A. M. Best rating agency, and is the location of Mane Stream, formerly the Somerset Hills Handicapped Riding Center for adaptive riding and equine assisted therapy.

The Oldwick Historic District is a 170-acre (69 ha) national historic district located along County Route 517 (Main Street), Church, King, James, Joliet and William streets in the Oldwick section of Tewksbury Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 14, 1988, for its significance in architecture, commerce, and industry. It includes 127 contributing buildings, 12 contributing structures, and one contributing site. The Kline Farmhouse, listed individually in 1984, also contributes to the district. Many of the buildings were documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey.

Bedminster is a township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 8,272, an increase of 107 (+1.3%) from the 2010 census count of 8,165, which in turn reflected a decline of 137 (−1.7%) from the 8,302 counted in the 2000 census. Tewksbury Township is a township located in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey and is located within the New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 5,870, a decrease of 123 (−2.1%) from the 2010 census count of 5,993, which in turn reflected an increase of 452 (+8.2%) from the 5,541 counted in the 2000 census.The township has been one of the state's highest-income communities. Based on data from the 2012–2016 American Community Survey (ACS), NJ.com ranked the township as having the fifth-highest income in the state, with a median household income of $173,473. Based on data from the 2014–2018 ACS, the township residents had a median household income of $162,037, more than double the statewide median of $79,363.Located within the Raritan Valley region, Tewksbury is situated in northeastern Hunterdon County bordering both Morris and Somerset (along the Lamington River) counties. The township's name is thought to be from Tewkesbury, England. Since 2003, the two communities have been twinned.

The Bartles House, also known as the Christy House, is a historic house located at 400 Fisher Road (formerly listed as 159 Oldwick Road) near Oldwick in Tewksbury Township of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 14, 2007, for its significance in architecture. Described as a "vernacular cubical villa", it was built with Greek Revival style and Italianate style. The tree-lined driveway from Oldwick Road is a contributing site of the listing.
