Hacklebarney State Park

The Black River, known as the Lamington River downstream of Pottersville, is a tributary of the North Branch Raritan River in central New Jersey in the United States.The Black River starts near that of the North Branch Raritan River, several miles west of Morristown, rising out of Sunset Lake in Mine Hill New Jersey. It flows through the Black River Wildlife Management Area, the Black River County Park, and Hacklebarney State Park. It flows through Chester, New Jersey and the town middle school is named after it.

Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center is a botanical garden and public park in Chester Township, New Jersey. The house and garden, listed using its historic name, Merchiston Farm, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1989 for its significance as the home of the American landscape architect Martha Brookes Hutcheson and her landscaping of the property.

The Combe Fill South Landfill is located on the border of Chester and Washington townships, both of which are in Morris County, in the state of New Jersey. The Landfill was put on the National Priority List by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in September 1983 due to the site being tested for potentially dangerous chemicals, such as benzene, methylene chloride, and chloroform. Despite attempts to clean up, the site has remained an active Superfund as of September 25, 2017.

The Nathan Cooper Gristmill is a historic gristmill on the Black River located at 66 NJ Route 24 in Chester Township, Morris County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 21, 1976 for its significance in industry.Since 1973, the Morris County Park Commission has owned and operated the mill and its 14 surrounding acres as a historic site.

The Purnell School was a progressive private all-girls boarding high school located in Pottersville, within Bedminster, New Jersey, about an hour and one-half west of New York City, and two hours north of Philadelphia. Purnell School was a member of the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. The school was accredited in 1973 by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools. The school officially closed following the 2020–21 academic school year citing "“challenges related to the competitive landscape’’.As of the 2017–18 school year, the school had an enrollment of 57 students and 15 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 3.8:1. The school's student body was 61.4% (35) White, 26.3% (15) Black, 7.0% (4) Hispanic and 5.3% (3) Asian.

Pottersville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) split between Bedminster Township in Somerset County and Tewksbury Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 07979. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population for ZIP Code Tabulation Area 07979 was 589. In 1990, most of the village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Pottersville Village Historic District.

The Craft–Clausen House is a historic stone house located at 170 Fairmont Road in Washington Township, Morris County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 1, 1992, for its significance in architecture. The house is part of the Stone Houses and Outbuildings in Washington Township Multiple Property Submission (MPS).

Larison’s Turkey Farm was a restaurant in Chester Borough, New Jersey.The initial structure was a farmhouse from 1800, which Isaac Corwin built on farmland purchased from Benjamin Luse.In an interview of his childhood, Chester resident Herman Rademacher attests there were 100 turkeys circa 1936. Children of the Chester community would make noises (e.g., "gobble gobble") to the hundred turkeys to elicit a response.According to its signage in a circa 1940 postcard, it sold turkeys, turkey livers, frozen turkeys, and turkey eggs.In 1945, Willis Larison purchased the farm and converted it to “Larison’s Turkey Farm Inn.”It opened as a family restaurant around 1950, becoming a tourist attraction in Chester. In 1974, restaurateur Arthur McGreevy purchased the property. The restaurant was decorated with antiques including Tiffany lamps and taxidermy. Dinners were served family style with platters of meats and sides passed around the table.The Daily Record claimed the restaurant "closed in 2000, and has been unsuccessfully revived three times since, the last one closing in 2009."On December 4, 2021, realtor Robert Berlant conducted a site visit for the former farm while dressed as a turkey. While in costume, Berlant toured the general public as well as members of the Chester Land Use Board, including facilitating entry to the former restaurant.

Fairmount is an unincorporated community located along County Route 517 in Tewksbury Township of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The community was first known as Parkersville, named after proprietor James Parker (1725–1797). The southern section of the community is known as Lower Fairmount.

The Sharpenstine Farmstead is a historic farmhouse located at 98 East Mill Road near Long Valley in Washington Township, Morris County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 1, 1992, for its significance in architecture. The 22.4-acre (9.1 ha) farm overlooks the valley formed by the South Branch Raritan River. The house is part of the Stone Houses and Outbuildings in Washington Township Multiple Property Submission (MPS).

The Fairmount Historic District is a 409-acre (166 ha) historic district located along County Route 517 in the Fairmount section of Tewksbury Township, near Califon, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 20, 1996 for its significance in architecture, exploration/settlement, and industry. The district includes 72 contributing buildings that were deemed to be contributing to the historic character of the area, plus five contributing structures, nine contributing sites, and one contributing object. One contributing building is located in Washington Township, Morris County.
