On April 5, 2024, at 10:23 EDT (14:23 UTC), a Mw 4.8 earthquake occurred in the U.S. state of New Jersey, with the epicenter in Tewksbury Township. While it was felt across the New York metropolitan area, Delaware Valley, the Washington D.C metropolitan area, and other parts of the northeastern United States between Virginia and Maine, it had a relatively minor impact, with no major damage reported. There were dozens of aftershocks throughout the rest of the week and into the next. It was the strongest earthquake to affect New Jersey since the 5.3 Mfa 1783 New Jersey earthquake, and the strongest to hit New York City since an estimated 5.0 magnitude earthquake on August 10, 1884.

The Kline Farmhouse, also known as Cold Spring Cottage, is located on a 12-acre (4.9 ha) farm along County Route 517 (Old Turnpike Road), north of Oldwick in Tewksbury Township of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Built by Jacob Kline in the 1790s, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 11, 1984, for its significance in agriculture, architecture and settlement. Also known as the Beavers House, it was previously documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1966. It was later listed as a contributing property of the Oldwick Historic District in 1988.

Tewksbury Township is a township located in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey and is located within the New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 5,870, a decrease of 123 (−2.1%) from the 2010 census count of 5,993, which in turn reflected an increase of 452 (+8.2%) from the 5,541 counted in the 2000 census.The township has been one of the state's highest-income communities. Based on data from the 2012–2016 American Community Survey (ACS), NJ.com ranked the township as having the fifth-highest income in the state, with a median household income of $173,473. Based on data from the 2014–2018 ACS, the township residents had a median household income of $162,037, more than double the statewide median of $79,363.Located within the Raritan Valley region, Tewksbury is situated in northeastern Hunterdon County bordering both Morris and Somerset (along the Lamington River) counties. The township's name is thought to be from Tewkesbury, England. Since 2003, the two communities have been twinned.

The Oldwick Historic District is a 170-acre (69 ha) national historic district located along County Route 517 (Main Street), Church, King, James, Joliet and William streets in the Oldwick section of Tewksbury Township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 14, 1988, for its significance in architecture, commerce, and industry. It includes 127 contributing buildings, 12 contributing structures, and one contributing site. The Kline Farmhouse, listed individually in 1984, also contributes to the district. Many of the buildings were documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey.

Oldwick is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Tewksbury Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 08858. As of the 2000 United States census, the population for ZIP Code Tabulation Area 08858 was 177. The 2010 census data indicate a population of 144, comprising 68 housing units.Oldwick was formerly known as New Germantown. It has a mixture of Victorian, Federal, New England and Georgian style homes, and is protected by historic legislation. Historic sites within Oldwick include the Kline Farmhouse and the Oldwick Historic District. Zion Lutheran Church in Oldwick was the oldest Lutheran parish in New Jersey. Justus Falckner of New York, the first Lutheran clergyman ever ordained in America, led the worshipers at the founding ceremony on August 1, 1714. The noted German Lutheran pastor, Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, was a member of this congregation from 1759 to 1760.Oldwick is the corporate headquarters of the A. M. Best rating agency, and is the location of Mane Stream, formerly the Somerset Hills Handicapped Riding Center for adaptive riding and equine assisted therapy.

The Tewksbury Township Schools is a community public school district which operates two schools serving students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Tewksbury Township, in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.As of the 2021–22 school year, the district, comprised of two schools, had an enrollment of 500 students and 55.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.0:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "J", the-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.Public school students in ninth through twelfth grades attend Voorhees High School in Lebanon Township (although the mailing address is Glen Gardner), which also serves students from Califon Borough, Glen Gardner Borough, Hampton Borough, High Bridge Borough and Lebanon Township. As of the 2021–22 school year, the high school had an enrollment of 780 students and 76.4 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.2:1. The school is part of the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District, which also includes students from Bethlehem Township, Clinton Town, Clinton Township, Franklin Township, Lebanon Borough and Union Township who attend North Hunterdon High School in Annandale.

Pottersville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) split between Bedminster Township in Somerset County and Tewksbury Township in Hunterdon County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 07979. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population for ZIP Code Tabulation Area 07979 was 589. In 1990, most of the village was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Pottersville Village Historic District.

The Lamington River, known as the Black River upstream of Pottersville, is a tributary of the North Branch Raritan River in central New Jersey in the United States.

The Purnell School was a progressive private all-girls boarding high school located in Pottersville, within Bedminster, New Jersey, about an hour and one-half west of New York City, and two hours north of Philadelphia. Purnell School was a member of the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools. The school was accredited in 1973 by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools. The school officially closed following the 2020–21 academic school year citing "“challenges related to the competitive landscape’’.As of the 2017–18 school year, the school had an enrollment of 57 students and 15 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 3.8:1. The school's student body was 61.4% (35) White, 26.3% (15) Black, 7.0% (4) Hispanic and 5.3% (3) Asian.

The Fairmount Historic District is a 409-acre (166 ha) historic district located along County Route 517 in the Fairmount section of Tewksbury Township, near Califon, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 20, 1996 for its significance in architecture, exploration/settlement, and industry. The district includes 72 contributing buildings that were deemed to be contributing to the historic character of the area, plus five contributing structures, nine contributing sites, and one contributing object. One contributing building is located in Washington Township, Morris County.

The Bartles House, also known as the Christy House, is a historic house located at 400 Fisher Road (formerly listed as 159 Oldwick Road) near Oldwick in Tewksbury Township of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 14, 2007, for its significance in architecture. Described as a "vernacular cubical villa", it was built with Greek Revival style and Italianate style. The tree-lined driveway from Oldwick Road is a contributing site of the listing.

Fairmount is an unincorporated community located along County Route 517 in Tewksbury Township of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The community was first known as Parkersville, named after proprietor James Parker (1725–1797). The southern section of the community is known as Lower Fairmount.
