Sandtoft is a hamlet in the civil parish of Belton, North Lincolnshire (Where the population is included), England. Sandtoft is in Hatfield Chase on the Isle of Axholme, 3 miles (5 km) north-west from Epworth. Sandtoft has a public house, The Reindeer Inn.RAF Sandtoft was an RAF Bomber Command airfield. It opened in April 1944, closed in November 1945 and was sold for civilian uses in 1955. Today part of the site is Sandtoft Airfield and The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft, Europe's largest trolleybus museum, is on another part. In 2021 it was incorrectly signposted as part of Yorkshire.Sandtoft and nearby Epworth, Lincolnshire were centres of unrest during the 17th draining of The Fens.

Sandtoft Airfield (ICAO: EGCF), also known as Sandtoft Aerodrome, is in Belton, North Lincolnshire, England on the south side of the M180 motorway, approximately 12 mi (19 km) northeast of Doncaster, and 7 nautical miles (13 km; 8.1 mi) southwest of Scunthorpe. It is managed and operated by E-Plane Ltd.

Medge Hall Halt was a small railway station in Lincolnshire, on the Doncaster to Cleethorpes Line, close to the border with Yorkshire. It served the local Medge Hall. The station was opened by the South Yorkshire Railway in September 1859. It closed in 1960, though the line it stood on is still open.

Stockholes Turbary is a hamlet and nature reserve on the Isle of Axholme in the parish of Belton in North Lincolnshire unitary area of Lincolnshire, England. It is also close to the former Sandtoft Airfield and the village of Westgate.

The Stainforth and Keadby Canal is a navigable canal in South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, England. It connects the River Don Navigation at Bramwith to the River Trent at Keadby, by way of Stainforth, Thorne and Ealand, near Crowle. It opened in 1802, passed into the control of the River Don Navigation in 1849, and within a year was controlled by the first of several railway companies. It became part of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation, an attempt to remove several canals from railway control, in 1895. There were plans to upgrade it to take larger barges and to improve the port facilities at Keadby, but the completion of the New Junction Canal in 1905 made this unnecessary, as Goole could easily be reached and was already a thriving port. The canal was a centre for boatbuilding between 1858, when Richard Dunston moved his yard to Thorne from Torksey, and 1984 when the yard closed. Dunston's company were pioneers in the use of welded construction and innovative tug propulsion systems. The operation was always restricted by the size of Keadby Lock, although vessels longer than the lock could pass through when the river was level with the canal and both sets of gates could be opened. The largest ship to be built required Dunston's to build a dam across the canal, as the canal company feared that it might get stuck in the lock, resulting in flooding and draining of the canal. The canal passes through a region which is largely rural, much of which is drained artificially. For most of its length, it is flanked by the North Soak Drain and the South Soak Drain, because it disrupted the established drainage scheme. Thorne Moors lie to the north and Hatfield Chase lies to the south. Until its demise in 1966, the canal was crossed by the Axholme Joint Railway at Ealand. The swing bridge was retained for several years after closure, so that stators from the nearby Keadby Power Station could be taken away for repairs, as there were no road bridges which could support the weight.

Godnow Bridge railway station was a small railway station on the line between Doncaster and Keadby, between Medge Hall Halt and Crowle. The area is shown on old maps as "Godknow Bridge". It was opened with the line from Thorne (Old) railway station in September 1859 and closed in 1917.

Westgate is a hamlet on the Isle of Axholme in the parish of Belton in North Lincolnshire unitary area of Lincolnshire, England. It is close to the former Sandtoft Airfield and the village of Sandtoft as well as the town of Epworth. It is notable for the grade II listed Westgate Mill.

Hatfield Chase is a low-lying area in South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, England, which was often flooded. It was a royal hunting ground until Charles I appointed the Dutch engineer Cornelius Vermuyden to drain it in 1626. The work involved the re-routing of the Rivers Don, Idle, and Torne, and the construction of drainage channels. It was not wholly successful, but changed the whole nature of a wide swathe of land including the Isle of Axholme, and caused legal disputes for the rest of the century. The civil engineer John Smeaton looked at the problem of wintertime flooding in the 1760s, and some remedial work was carried out. Under an Act of Parliament of 1813, Commissioners were appointed, and improvements to the drainage included the first steam pumping engine. The Corporation of the Level of Hatfield Chase was established in 1862, and another pumping engine was installed. The drains ran to the northeastern corner of the Chase and continued to sluices at Althorpe on the River Trent. Discharge to the Trent was subsequently moved to Keadby, and the gravity drainage was supplemented by pumps when a pumping station was built in 1940. Steam engines were gradually replaced by diesel engines, and later by electric pumps. The Environment Agency maintains eight pumping stations on the Chase, in addition to Keadby, and there are several smaller installations managed by the Corporation of the Level of Hatfield Chase Internal Drainage Board. Some of the pumping stations are reversible, allowing water to be extracted from the drains into the main rivers in winter, and pumped from the rivers into the drains for irrigation in summer.
