KTW (Katowice)

Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), is one of Poland's radio orchestra and premier musical institutions. It was founded in 1935 in Warsaw. In 1945 the orchestra was re-established in Katowice and since 2006 it has become a "National Cultural Institution".

International Congress Centre in Katowice (ICC) (pol. Międzynarodowe Centrum Kongresowe w Katowicach, MCK) is a multipurpose conference and convention centre. It was opened to the public in 2015. It is owned by City of Katowice and since May 2016 is managed by the PTWP Event Center sp. z o.o. on a multi-year lease from the city.

Spodek (meaning "saucer" in Polish) is a multipurpose arena complex in Katowice, Poland, opened on 9 May 1971. Aside from the main dome, the complex includes a gym, an ice rink, a hotel and three large car parks. It was the largest indoor venue of its kind in Poland until it was surpassed by Tauron Arena in 2014. The Spodek hosts many important cultural and business events. Music concerts are especially common non-sport events. It can hold around 11,500 people, although this number is in practice limited to 10,000 or even 8,000 due to stage set-ups obscuring the view. Its Polish name refers to a flying saucer since its iconic shape resembles a UFO. Spodek is a major contribution to the cultural significance of Katowice in Poland, especially for the younger generations. It has also been used as an unofficial logo for the city on posters promoting redevelopment in Katowice. Moreover, Spodek is home to ice hockey clubs in the winter months.

The Silesian Insurgents' Monument (Polish: Pomnik Powstańców Śląskich) in Katowice, southern Poland, is a monument to those who took part in the three Silesian Uprisings of 1919, 1920 and 1921, which aimed to make the region of Upper Silesia part of the newly independent Polish state. The monument was unveiled on 1 September 1967, and was designed by sculptor Gustaw Zemła and architect Wojciech Zabłocki. The wings symbolize the three uprisings, and the names of places where battles were fought are etched on the vertical slopes. The monument was funded by the people of Warsaw for Upper Silesia.

The Rondo Generała Jerzego Ziętka in Katowice is the roundabout in the centre of the city, in the Silesian Voivodship in southern Poland. On that main traffic circle, the Aleja Korfantego and the road 79, part of the Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa, meet. To allow an easy passage through the Katowice city centre for road 79, two tunnels of 657 and 650 metres have been built. There are ramps leading to the roundabout, which are the exit for the city centre. Also, a new bus and tram station, fully equipped for handling disabled people, has been built. The traffic circle, dedicated to general Jerzy Ziętek, has three levels. At -1 level, the tunnel is located, on the ground floor there are various business offices, and on the +1 level the Katowice Museum of Fine Arts and an information centre about the city are present. A glass cupola tops it all. General Jerzy Ziętek, namegiver of the Rondo, and Wojciech Korfanty, namegiver of one of the streets that crosses it, were named as the two most important Silesian persons in the 20th century by the Gazeta Wyborcza, with Korfanty coming in first and Ziętek second.

Altus (also known as Uni Centrum or Business Center 2000) is a skyscraper in Katowice, Silesia, Poland. The construction started in 2001 and finished in 2003. The building is 125 m high and rises 30 floors above ground. Total floor area is 68,815 m², and volume is 270,430 m³. The building surrounds a four-story atrium. One wing of the building has 18 stories and the other has 29. Altus is an intelligent building, controlled centrally through a Building Management System. There are 18 elevators in the building. The main tenants are a four-star hotel, a casino, a health club, and banks: PKO Bank Polski, Citibank, and Kredyt Bank. There is also a three-level underground parking that can fit 560 cars. Over 1,500 people work in the building.

The University of Silesia in Katowice (Polish: Uniwersytet Śląski w Katowicach, UŚ) is an autonomous state-run university in Silesia Province, Katowice, Poland.The university offers higher education and research facilities. It offers undergraduate, masters, and PhD degree programs, as well as postgraduate, postdoctoral research, habilitation, and continuous education and training programs.

Silesian Museum in Katowice (Polish: Muzeum Śląskie w Katowicach) is a museum in the City of Katowice, Poland.

The Scientific Information Center and Academic Library (CINiBA) is a joint scientific library of two universities in Katowice - the University of Silesia in Katowice and the University of Economics in Katowice. It is located in the heart of the university campus, in the center of the Silesian agglomeration.

Church of the Resurrection in Katowice is a neo-Roman Evangelical-Augsburg church in the Śródmieście district, Katowice, Poland. It was built in the years 1856–1858 and was the first masonry church in Katowice.

Silesian Theatre (Polish: Teatr Śląski) dedicated to Stanisław Wyspiański is the largest theatre in Silesia. It is located on the market square in Katowice. It was built as "German Theatre" in the years 1905–1907, from plans by German theatre architect Carl Moritz. In the interwar Poland from 1922 to 1939 it was known as the "Polish Theatre".

Market Square in Katowice is a central feature of the Śródmieście district in the city of Katowice, Poland. This market square, the main one in the city, dates to the late 19th century. It has been rebuilt several times, with the latest round of changes currently in progress. During the communist era, some of the historic buildings were demolished to make way for modern service facilities. A characteristic feature of the square is a network of streetcar tracks, crossing the square in several directions. There are three squares within the marketplace: Kwiatowy, Teatralny, and Obrońców Katowic. The Silesian Theatre is located there. In the 2010s the city has started to redesign the square. The Rynek, as understood by the Katowice authorities, is a central place and a showpiece of the city. Obrońców Katowic Square is a location of the Monument to the September Scouts. On the square and in the neighboring streets a hot-spot provides free wireless internet access. At noon, Katowice's bugle call is played from the top of a tenement house at the intersection of Młyńska and Pocztowa Streets. The author of the music is an amateur composer from Bytom, Adam Biernacki. The custom of playing the bugle-call has a short tradition, it was created in 2002.
