Silesian Theatre (Polish: Teatr Śląski) dedicated to Stanisław Wyspiański is the largest theatre in Silesia. It is located on the market square in Katowice. It was built as "German Theatre" in the years 1905–1907, from plans by German theatre architect Carl Moritz. In the interwar Poland from 1922 to 1939 it was known as the "Polish Theatre".

Market Square in Katowice is a central feature of the Śródmieście district in the city of Katowice, Poland. This market square, the main one in the city, dates to the late 19th century. It has been rebuilt several times, with the latest round of changes currently in progress. During the communist era, some of the historic buildings were demolished to make way for modern service facilities. A characteristic feature of the square is a network of streetcar tracks, crossing the square in several directions. There are three squares within the marketplace: Kwiatowy, Teatralny, and Obrońców Katowic. The Silesian Theatre is located there. In the 2010s the city has started to redesign the square. The Rynek, as understood by the Katowice authorities, is a central place and a showpiece of the city. Obrońców Katowic Square is a location of the Monument to the September Scouts. On the square and in the neighboring streets a hot-spot provides free wireless internet access. At noon, Katowice's bugle call is played from the top of a tenement house at the intersection of Młyńska and Pocztowa Streets. The author of the music is an amateur composer from Bytom, Adam Biernacki. The custom of playing the bugle-call has a short tradition, it was created in 2002.

Altus (also known as Uni Centrum or Business Center 2000) is a skyscraper in Katowice, Silesia, Poland. The construction started in 2001 and finished in 2003. The building is 125 m high and rises 30 floors above ground. Total floor area is 68,815 m², and volume is 270,430 m³. The building surrounds a four-story atrium. One wing of the building has 18 stories and the other has 29. Altus is an intelligent building, controlled centrally through a Building Management System. There are 18 elevators in the building. The main tenants are a four-star hotel, a casino, a health club, and banks: PKO Bank Polski, Citibank, and Kredyt Bank. There is also a three-level underground parking that can fit 560 cars. Over 1,500 people work in the building.

Great Synagogue was the largest synagogue in the city of Katowice (Kattowitz), in southwestern Poland. It was erected in 1900 in what was then the German Empire, and was designed by Max Grünfeld. The synagogue was set on fire by the Nazis in early September 1939 during the invasion of Poland.

Katowice historic train station was the main railway station of Katowice, in the Silesia region of what is now Poland. Built in 1859 and reconstructed and expanded several times, it was judged obsolete after World War II, and in 1972 decommissioned and replaced by the newly built Katowice railway station. Three years later it was declared a National Monument. It is partially ruined and owned by a private developer who plans to renovate the station buildings and develop the complex into a multifunctional center. The station mixes neoclassical and modernist historical architecture styles and has been described as "one of the most interesting European railway stations from the architectural perspective".

The Silesian Insurgents' Monument (Polish: Pomnik Powstańców Śląskich) in Katowice, southern Poland, is a monument to those who took part in the three Silesian Uprisings of 1919, 1920 and 1921, which aimed to make the region of Upper Silesia part of the newly independent Polish state. The monument was unveiled on 1 September 1967, and was designed by sculptor Gustaw Zemła and architect Wojciech Zabłocki. The wings symbolize the three uprisings, and the names of places where battles were fought are etched on the vertical slopes. The monument was funded by the people of Warsaw for Upper Silesia.

The Rondo Generała Jerzego Ziętka in Katowice is the roundabout in the centre of the city, in the Silesian Voivodship in southern Poland. On that main traffic circle, the Aleja Korfantego and the road 79, part of the Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa, meet. To allow an easy passage through the Katowice city centre for road 79, two tunnels of 657 and 650 metres have been built. There are ramps leading to the roundabout, which are the exit for the city centre. Also, a new bus and tram station, fully equipped for handling disabled people, has been built. The traffic circle, dedicated to general Jerzy Ziętek, has three levels. At -1 level, the tunnel is located, on the ground floor there are various business offices, and on the +1 level the Katowice Museum of Fine Arts and an information centre about the city are present. A glass cupola tops it all. General Jerzy Ziętek, namegiver of the Rondo, and Wojciech Korfanty, namegiver of one of the streets that crosses it, were named as the two most important Silesian persons in the 20th century by the Gazeta Wyborcza, with Korfanty coming in first and Ziętek second.

3 Maja Street in Katowice (3 May Street) is a street in the centre of Katowice. The street was built in the 19th century. During World War II the street was called Grundmannstraße, 1867−1922 Grundmannstraße, 1856−1867 Industriestraße. The street starts at the Market Square in Katowice. It passes through the Wawelska Street, Wilhelm Szewczyk Square, Stawowa Street, and Juliusza Słowackiego Street. The street ends at Wolności Square.

Church of the Resurrection in Katowice is a neo-Roman Evangelical-Augsburg church in the Śródmieście district, Katowice, Poland. It was built in the years 1856–1858 and was the first masonry church in Katowice.

Katowice railway station is a railway station in Katowice, Silesia, Poland, and the largest railway station in the Upper Silesian Industrial Region. Domestic and international trains connect at the station to most major cities in Europe; these are operated primarily by Polskie Koleje Państwowe. During 1972, Katowice railway station was officially completed, having been built as a replacement station for the city's old terminus, Katowice historic train station. It is located in the centre of Katowice city, and forms of the biggest transport interchanges anywhere in Poland. As built, the railway station was located only a few minutes walk away from the city's main bus station. By the twenty-first century, Katowice railway station was reportedly being used by around 12 million passengers per year. The condition of the building had degraded over the course of 30 years, creating to an impetus for its replacement. During July 2009, it was announced that the Polish government had signed an agreement with the Spanish construction firm Neinver for the latter to build a new integrated transportation hub and commercial center in the middle of Katowice, including the redevelopment of the existing railway station. During May 2010, ground was broken at the site, marking the official commencement of phase one of construction, which was focused on the main station building itself; a temporary building was used to host train services while the original hall was demolished and its replacement built. During phase two of the redevelopment programme, the station's platforms were progressively closed for reconstruction. Later phases of the work involved the construction of the retail, hotel, and other on-site facilities. By late 2012, the new main hall of the railway station and its integrated underground bus station had become operational; during the summer of 2013, the entire complex, including the adjoining Galeria Katowicka mall on Szewczyk Square, was officially completed.

Katowice Voivodeship (Polish: województwo katowickie) can refer to one of two political entities in Poland: Katowice Voivodeship (1), initially "Silesian-Dabrowa Voivodeship" (Polish: województwo śląsko-dąbrowskie), was a unit of administrative division and local government in the years 1946–1975. It was superseded by Katowice Voivodeship (2), Częstochowa Voivodeship, Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship, and Opole Voivodeship. Its capital city was Katowice. Katowice Voivodeship (2) was a unit of administrative division and local government in Poland in the years 1975–1998, superseded by the Silesian Voivodeship. Its capital city was Katowice.

Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR), is one of Poland's radio orchestra and premier musical institutions. It was founded in 1935 in Warsaw. In 1945 the orchestra was re-established in Katowice and since 2006 it has become a "National Cultural Institution".
