Civic Center is a light rail station operated by Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. The station is located in San Jose, California, on 1st Street just north of Mission Street. The station is located in and named after the Civic Center area where many city and county government buildings are located, including the County Administration Campus, San Jose Police Department, Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, and Santa Clara County Superior Court. The station is served by the Blue and Green lines of the VTA Light Rail system.

On May 26, 2021, a mass shooting occurred at a Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) rail yard in San Jose, California, United States. Ten people were killed during the shooting, including the gunman, identified as 57-year-old VTA employee Samuel James Cassidy, who died by suicide. It is the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the San Francisco Bay Area.As a result of the shooting, service throughout the VTA light rail system was suspended for months. The city announced and later passed a package of policy proposals intended to curb gun violence, including unprecedented liability insurance and compensation fee requirements for gun owners.

The Caltrain Centralized Equipment Maintenance and Operations Facility (CEMOF) is a train maintenance yard and facility located to the north of San Jose Diridon Station in Central San Jose, California. The $140 million maintenance station began construction in 2004 and opened in 2007, consolidating much of Caltrain's maintenance and operations into one location.

The San Jose Central Fire Station, also known as San Jose Fire Station One, was the central fire station for the San Jose Fire Department in downtown San Jose, California. The International-style firehouse was designed by the architectural firm Binder & Curtis and built in 1951. The station became the city's central fire station, equipped with a new communication system that served as a command center for emergency services across the entire city. Its historical significance is association with the mid-century expansion of San Jose. The building now houses the San Jose Fire Museum on Market Street. The Fire Station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 7, 2015. On January 31, 2024, the The Mercury News announced the celebration of the San Jose Fire Department's 170th anniversary at the San Jose Fire Museum.

College Park is a lightly used Caltrain station serving the College Park neighborhood and the Bellarmine College Preparatory school in San Jose, California. It is served by two weekday-only round trips, with no weekend service.

The Phoenixonian Institute, also known as St. Philip’s Mission School for Negroes, is a former secondary school for African American students active from 1861 until the mid-1870s and located in the Japantown neighborhood of San Jose, California. It was the first African American residential secondary school in the state of California and the western United States, founded by Peter William Cassey.The school building no longer stands. The site of the former school has been listed as one of the City of San Jose Historic Resources Inventory (number 81).

Market Street Depot was the primary intercity railway station in San Jose, California between 1883 and 1935. It was located at Market and Bassett Streets at the end of the former San Francisco and San Jose Railroad, a route which was later integrated into the Southern Pacific Railroad Coast Line.

Rancho Potrero de Santa Clara was a 1,939-acre (7.85 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Santa Clara County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to James Alexander Forbes. The name refers to the "pasture lands" of Santa Clara Mission. The grant was between the Santa Clara Mission and the Pueblo of San José, south of the present day San Jose International Airport.
