Japantown (Japanese: 日本町; Nihonmachi), commonly known as J Town, is a historic cultural district of San Jose, California, north of Downtown San Jose. The Phoenixonian Institute, also known as St. Philip’s Mission School for Negroes, is a former secondary school for African American students active from 1861 until the mid-1870s and located in the Japantown neighborhood of San Jose, California. It was the first African American residential secondary school in the state of California and the western United States, founded by Peter William Cassey.The school building no longer stands. The site of the former school has been listed as one of the City of San Jose Historic Resources Inventory (number 81).

Heinlenville (Chinese: 海因倫鎮里的; also called the Sixth Street Chinatown 六街唐人埠 and San Jose Chinatown 散那些唐人埠) was a Chinese-American ethnic enclave in San Jose, California. Established in 1887 and demolished in 1931, it was the last and longest-lasting of San Jose's five Chinatowns.

The Moir Building, was formerly the Straford Hotel, and then in the 1930s named the St. James Hotel. It is a historic building located in downtown San Jose, California, next to the St. James Park. It was built in 1893–1894 and designed by W.D. Van Siclen. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 29, 1982. It is one of the last remaining examples of late 19th-century Queen Anne and Romanesque Revival architecture in San Jose.

The Sainte Claire Club is a private gentlemen's club established in 1888 and located in the St. James Square Historic District in San Jose, California, United States. It is one of the oldest clubs in the state of California.
