138th Street–Grand Concourse station

The 138th Street station was a station on the Harlem and Hudson Lines of the New York Central Railroad, serving the community of Mott Haven in the Bronx, New York City. It was the southernmost station along both branches until 1973. The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad also ran through this station but did not stop here.

The Third Avenue–138th Street station is an express station on the IRT Pelham Line of the New York City Subway located at the intersection of Third Avenue and East 138th Street in the Bronx. It is served by the 6 train at all times and the <6> train during weekdays in the peak direction.

The Madison Avenue Bridge is a four-lane swing bridge crossing the Harlem River in New York City, connecting Madison Avenue in Manhattan with East 138th Street in the Bronx. It was designed by Alfred P. Boller and built in 1910, doubling the capacity of an earlier swing bridge built in 1884. The bridge is operated and maintained by the New York City Department of Transportation. For 2011, the NYCDOT reported an average daily traffic volume in both directions of 41,423; having reached a peak of 49,487 in 2002. Between 2000 and 2014, the bridge opened for vessels 69 times.

Harlem River Park is a portion of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway that runs along the Harlem River from 145th Street south to 135th Street near the 369th Regiment Armory. In 1997, under Rudy Giuliani and NYC Parks Commissioner Stern, the mayor's office provided approximately $380,000 to explore the park's creation and construction began in 2001 to extend the East River Greenway north from the 125th Street terminus in what was, by 2017, called the Harlem Greenway Link.The park includes murals, including ones in tribute to Harlem's cultural history, and preservationists have discussed a so-called "Grand Harlem Park" encompassing this and others adjacent.

Mott Haven is a primarily residential neighborhood in the southwestern section of the New York City borough of the Bronx. Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise, are East 149th Street to the north, the Bruckner Expressway to the east, the Major Deegan Expressway to the south, and the Harlem River to the west. East 138th Street is the primary east–west thoroughfare through Mott Haven. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community Board 1, and is located within ZIP Codes 10451, 10454, and 10455. Mott Haven is patrolled by the New York City Police Department's 40th Precinct.The local subway line is the IRT Pelham Line (6 and <6>​ trains), operating along East 138th Street. The local buses are the Bx1, Bx2, Bx15, Bx17, Bx19, Bx21, Bx32, Bx33, M125. Mott Haven is served by the Triborough Bridge, the Third Avenue Bridge, the Madison Avenue Bridge, the 145th Street Bridge, and the Willis Avenue Bridge. The closest Metro-North Railroad stops are Harlem – 125th Street and Yankees – East 153rd Street.

Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture is a performing arts and visual arts center located within Hostos Community College in the South Bronx, New York City. Hostos Center consists of a museum-grade art gallery, a 367-seat repertory theater, and an 884-seat main theater. The building design is the work of the architectural firm Gwathmey Siegel & Associates who was honored with the 1988 Excellence in Design Award from the Art Commission of the City of New York for their design.Hostos Center has been showcasing theater, dance and music artists for 33 years, with the mission "to be a cultural force in the Bronx and throughout the New York metropolitan area." The New York Times has called the organization “the powerful locus for Latino art” in the Bronx. The programming consists of a performing arts presenting series; a visual arts exhibiting series; periodic festivals featuring different cultural traditions including the highly acclaimed BomPlenazo, the Hostos Repertory Company, a children's performing arts series, and an individual artists’ program consisting of commissions and residencies. Over the years, The Center has presented and exhibited such artists as Rubén Blades, Dizzy Gillespie, Eddie Palmieri, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Ballet de San Juan, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ballet Hispánico, Jennifer Mueller, Antonio Martorell, Faith Ringgold, Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Tito Puente and Lucecita Benítez.

Eugenio María de Hostos Community College of The City University of New York is a public community college in the South Bronx, New York City. It is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system and was created by an act of the Board of Higher Education in 1968 in response to demands from the Hispanic/Puerto Rican community, which was urging for the establishment of a college to serve the people of the South Bronx. In 1970, the college admitted its first class of 623 students at the site of a former tire factory. Several years later, the college moved to a larger site nearby at 149th Street and Grand Concourse. The college also operates a location at the prow building of the Bronx Terminal Market.

BronxArtSpace is a non-profit gallery that promotes underrepresented and emerging artists and curators. It is an independent venue not associated with any college or institution.It fosters arts education through exhibitions and cultural events in Mott Haven in the South Bronx, New York. Events include exhibitions in collaboration with visual artists, performers, filmmakers, dancers, musicians, actors and curators. BronxArtSpace was started in 2008 by artists Linda Cunningham and Mitsu Hadeishi.When she couldn’t afford living in Soho anymore, Cunningham moved to an apartment building in Mott Haven. She renovated the five-story building on East 140th Street and created the BronxArtSpace gallery on the ground floor.

The 149th Street–Grand Concourse station is a New York City Subway station complex shared by the IRT Jerome Avenue Line and the IRT White Plains Road Line. It is located at East 149th Street and Grand Concourse in Mott Haven and Melrose in the Bronx. The complex is served by the 2 and 4 trains at all times, and by the 5 train at all times except late nights.

The Third Avenue Bridge carries southbound road traffic on Third Avenue over the Harlem River, connecting the boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx in New York City. It once carried southbound New York State Route 1A. The Third Avenue Bridge carries traffic south from the intersections of either Third Avenue and East 135th Street, or Bruckner Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, in the Bronx. On the Manhattan side, the bridge funnels traffic into three locations: East 128th Street; the intersection of East 129th Street and Lexington Avenue; or the southbound Harlem River Drive in Manhattan. The bridge was formerly bidirectional, but converted to one-way operation southbound on August 5, 1941 on the same day the Willis Avenue Bridge was similarly converted to one-way northbound. In 1955, the original multi-truss bridge constructed in 1898 was removed and sold. A rebuilt bridge reopened in December 1956.
