Trient, Switzerland

Col de la Forclaz (el. 1,527 m or 5,010 ft) is a mountain pass in the Alps in the Canton of Valais in Switzerland. It connects Martigny at 471 m (1,545 ft) and Le Châtelard (Finhaut). The road from Martigny to the Col has an average gradient of 6% but in parts is closer to 8%. After the Col, and Le Châtelard, the road leads to Chamonix in France via Vallorcine and the Col des Montets. The pass was little known in the 19th century. It was not until the rise in tourism, particularly in Chamonix, that the region became a popular tourist area.

The Pointe Ronde is a mountain of the Mont Blanc massif, overlooking Trient in the canton of Valais. It lies near the northern end of the Arête de la Lys, the ridge descending in a north-westerly direction from the Génépi towards the Col de la Forclaz.

Mont de l'Arpille is a mountain of the Alps, located south-west of Martigny in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is located north of the Col de la Forclaz and geographically part of the Mont Blanc massif.

Le Châtelard (altitude 1,120 m or 3,675 ft) is a locality in the canton of Valais, Switzerland near the border with France. It is part of the municipality of Finhaut.

Finhaut is a municipality in the district of Saint-Maurice in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Le Génépi (2,884 m) is a mountain of the Swiss Mont Blanc massif, located west of Champex in the canton of Valais. It is the culminating point of the group lying north of the Fenêtre d'Arpette.

The Pointe des Ecandies is a mountain of the Mont Blanc Massif, located between Trient and Champex in the canton of Valais. It is located north of the Pointe d'Orny and east of the Trient Glacier.

Frutigen-Niedersimmental District in the Canton of Bern was created on 1 January 2010. It is part of the Oberland administrative region. It contains 13 municipalities with an area of 773.93 km2 (298.82 sq mi) and a population (as of December 2008) of 38,871.

The district occupies the western portion of Basel-Country, bordering the neighbouring cantons of canton of Aargau and Solothurn. Its capital is the town of Sissach.
