Croix de Fer

The Col de Balme (2,195 m) is a high mountain pass of the Alps, located on the border between Switzerland and France. It connects Trient in the Swiss canton of Valais to Argentière in the French department of Haute-Savoie. The pass lies between the summits of Tête de Balme and Les Grandes Otanes. The Col de Balme lies on the Tour du Mont Blanc walk. A restaurant is located above the summit of the pass.

The Tête de Balme (2,321 m) is a mountain of the Mont Blanc Massif, located on the border between Switzerland and France. It lies on the range north of the Col de Balme, culminating at the Croix de Fer.

Les Grandes Otanes is a mountain of the Mont Blanc Massif, located on the border between Switzerland and France, north of the Aiguille du Tour. They overlook the Col de Balme.

Le Châtelard VS railway station (French: Gare de Le Châtelard VS) is a railway station in the municipality of Finhaut, in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is an intermediate stop and a request stop on the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) metre gauge Martigny–Châtelard line of Transports de Martigny et Régions. The station is adjacent to the valley station of the Funiculaire du Châtelard to Lac d'Émosson.

Le Châtelard (altitude 1,120 m or 3,675 ft) is a locality in the canton of Valais, Switzerland near the border with France. It is part of the municipality of Finhaut.

Le Châtelard-Frontière railway station (French: Gare du Châtelard-Frontière) is a railway station in the municipality of Finhaut, in the Swiss canton of Valais. It is located on the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge Martigny–Châtelard line of Transports de Martigny et Régions. The station is last one in Switzerland before the line crosses into France.

The Pointe des Berons is a mountain of the Mont Blanc Massif, located on the border between Switzerland and France. It lies approximately halfway between the Col de Balme and the Aiguille du Tour. The east (Swiss) side is covered by the Glacier des Berons.

Col de la Forclaz (el. 1,527 m or 5,010 ft) is a mountain pass in the Alps in the Canton of Valais in Switzerland. It connects Martigny at 471 m (1,545 ft) and Le Châtelard (Finhaut). The road from Martigny to the Col has an average gradient of 6% but in parts is closer to 8%. After the Col, and Le Châtelard, the road leads to Chamonix in France via Vallorcine and the Col des Montets. The pass was little known in the 19th century. It was not until the rise in tourism, particularly in Chamonix, that the region became a popular tourist area.

The Pointe des Grands is a mountain of the Mont Blanc Massif, located on the border between France and Switzerland, north-west of the Aiguille du Tour. The mountain overlooks the Glacier des Grands on its (Swiss) northern side.

The Albert Premier Hut (French: refuge Albert-Ier ), sometimes known as Albert 1er, is located on the Haute Route between Chamonix, France and Zermatt, Switzerland. It is at 2,702 metres (8,865 ft) above sea level. It is a popular hut with day hikers because of the short hike (2 to 3 hours) and views of Chamonix Valley. The hut is usually used less by hikers attempting the entire Haute Route, but is popular as a base for climbers attempting the Aiguille du Chardonnet and the Aiguille du Tour. The hut is named after King Albert I of Belgium, who was a passionate alpinist. The main, newer hut (built in 1959) can hold 137 people and the older hut, for winter use, can hold 30 people. The main hut is staffed from June to September and is operated by Chamonix section of the Club alpin français.

Vallorcine (French pronunciation: [valɔʁsin]; Savoyard: Valorsnà) is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France.
