Finhaut railway station

Finhaut is a municipality in the district of Saint-Maurice in the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Le Châtelard (altitude 1,120 m or 3,675 ft) is a locality in the canton of Valais, Switzerland near the border with France. It is part of the municipality of Finhaut.

After the Col, and Le Châtelard, the road leads to Chamonix in France via Vallorcine and the Col des Montets. The pass was little known in the 19th century. It was not until the rise in tourism, particularly in Chamonix, that the region became a popular tourist area.

The Luisin (French pronunciation: [lɥizɛ̃]) is a mountain of the Chablais Alps, overlooking Les Marécottes in the canton of Valais. It lies east of the Tour Sallière, on the range between the lake of Salanfe and the valley of Trient.

Les Marécottes is a village in the Swiss Alps, located in the canton of Valais. The village is situated in the western part of the canton, in the Trient Valley, near Martigny, at a height of 1,110 metres. It belongs to the municipality of Salvan. Les Marécottes is a year-round popular tourist destination. Attractions include an Alpine zoo, a granite-carved swimming pool and a gondola climbing to La Creusaz (1,777 m), on the southern flanks of the Luisin. In winter the village also includes a ski area. Les Marécottes is served by the Martigny–Châtelard Railway.
