Maarssenbroek

Maarssen is a railway station in Maarssenbroek and on the opposite side of the Amsterdam Rijnkanaal to Maarssen, Netherlands. The station opened on 18 December 1843 and is located on the Amsterdam–Arnhem railway. The services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. In 1953 the station was served by two trains to and from Amsterdam per day. The service improved in the 1970s following the building of Maarssenbroek, and in 1974 the station had an hourly service. In 1975 the station had a half-hourly service. A (fourth) new station building was built in 2004. In a 2005 survey approximately 5,523 passengers use this station per day.

It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 2006 and retained that rating until 2008.In 2013, GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 14 out of 20 points.Head chef of Auguste is Giulio Iadarola. Head chef in the period of the Michelin star was Karl van Baggem, later owner and head chef of De Hoefslag.Auguste was a member of the Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise in the period 2007–2008.

Maarssen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmaːrsə(n)] (listen)) is a town in the middle of the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht, along the river Vecht and the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal. The west of Maarssen is called Maarssen-Broek whereas the east is called Maarssen-Dorp. Both put together and joined by other small towns around provide the area of Maarssen. On 1 January 2011 Maarssen merged with the councils of Breukelen and Loenen to become Stichtse Vecht.

Stichtse Vecht has been newly formed by a merger of the municipalities of Breukelen (in the west), Maarssen (in the east) and Loenen (in the north) on 1 January 2011.

The Amsterdam–Rhine Canal (Dutch: Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal) is a canal in the Netherlands that was built to connect the port and capital city of Amsterdam to the main shipping artery of the Rhine. Its course follows a generally southeasterly direction as it goes through the city of Utrecht towards Wijk bij Duurstede where it intersects the Lek branch of the Rhine and then continues on to the river Waal near Tiel, with a branch, the Lek Canal, to the Lek near Nieuwegein.

Haarzuilens is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Utrecht, and lies about 12 km west from the city centre of Utrecht. It was a separate municipality until 1954, when it was joined to the municipality of Vleuten.In 2018, the village of Haarzuilens has about 500 inhabitants.Pronounced “Harzollens” by the local Dutch inhabitants, the village was built around the turn of the 19th century after its predecessor and the local castle De Haar had been destroyed in a devastating fire. The trees surrounding the castle are said to have originated in a forest on the other side of Utrecht. Local lore has it that several houses in Utrecht were demolished in order to move the trees to their new location and to give the castle's landlord his forest without the decades of delay usually required to grow new trees. Nevertheless, the landlord allegedly went on a five-year honeymoon trip before the trees had been replanted. It is famous for De Haar Castle, which is surrounded by gardens and which is the location of the annual Elf Fantasy Fair. The castle, after 1892 fully refurbished by the Baroness Hélène van Zuylen and owned by baron Thierry van Zuylen since 2000, attracted 76,500 visitors in 2002.

Nyenrode Business Universiteit (abbreviated as NBU; Dutch: Nyenrode Business Universiteit) is a Dutch business university and one of the five private universities in the Netherlands. Founded in 1946, it is located on a large estate in the town of Breukelen, between Amsterdam and Utrecht. The educational institution is named after the castle where the course is located: Nijenrode castle. Nyenrode was founded under the name of the Netherlands Training Institute for Abroad (NOIB in Dutch) by renowned private Dutch companies, including KLM, Shell, Unilever, Philips and AkzoNobel with an objective- 'For Business, By Business'. The establishment was the result of an idea from KLM director Albert Plesman.

Vleuten is a railway station located in Vleuten, Utrecht, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1881, and is located on the Utrecht–Rotterdam railway. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

Breukelen-Sint Pieters is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The municipality was formed in 1815, when the municipality of Breukelen was split into two parts. Breukelen-Sint Pieters covered the eastern part of the former municipality, including the village of Breukeleveen. In 1949, the municipalities of Breukelen-Nijenrode and Breukelen-Sint Pieters merged again, to form the municipality of Breukelen.
