Head chef in the period of the Michelin star was Karl van Baggem, later owner and head chef of De Hoefslag.Auguste was a member of the Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise in the period 2007–2008.

Maarssenbroek is a town in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is nowadays part of the municipality of Stichtse Vecht. It lies on the west side of the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal. Between 1815 and 1857, Maarssenbroek was a separate municipality. Maarssenbroek is divided into thirteen residential areas with names picked from plant types and animal species as listed below. The various areas are ordered alphabetically on both sides of the main roads which are aptly named Floraweg (`Flora road`), Vogelweg (`Bird road`) and Safariweg (`Safari road`). starting from the south of the town. The entrances to the residential areas are marked on the main access roads by blue signs on which a silhouette of the animal responsible for the area's name has been stenciled in white. The streets in the residential areas of Maarssenbroek don't have names themselves; the addresses are composed by appending the house number to the area name. Within the residential areas the location of the addresses are indicated with green signs in white lettering pointing out the street where a specific house number can be found (e.g. a sign "501-599" pointing to the right).

Maarssen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmaːrsə(n)] (listen)) is a town in the middle of the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht, along the river Vecht and the Amsterdam–Rhine Canal. The west of Maarssen is called Maarssen-Broek whereas the east is called Maarssen-Dorp. Both put together and joined by other small towns around provide the area of Maarssen. On 1 January 2011 Maarssen merged with the councils of Breukelen and Loenen to become Stichtse Vecht.

The municipality has about 63,000 inhabitants and covers an area of about 107 km² (41 sq mi). Stichtse Vecht has been newly formed by a merger of the municipalities of Breukelen (in the west), Maarssen (in the east) and Loenen (in the north) on 1 January 2011.

It was again awarded a Michelin star in 1988 and retained that rating until 2000.During the second star-period, head chef was Henny van der VeerRestaurant De Wilgenplas closed down in 2000, due to bankruptcy.At present, restaurant De Heeren van Maarssen is located here.

The Amsterdam–Rhine Canal (Dutch: Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal) is a canal in the Netherlands that was built to connect the port and capital city of Amsterdam to the main shipping artery of the Rhine. Its course follows a generally southeasterly direction as it goes through the city of Utrecht towards Wijk bij Duurstede where it intersects the Lek branch of the Rhine and then continues on to the river Waal near Tiel, with a branch, the Lek Canal, to the Lek near Nieuwegein.

Vleuten is a former village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a neighbourhood of the city of Utrecht, and lies about 6 km west of it. Vleuten has a railway station on the line between Utrecht and Woerden. In 2001, Vleuten had 7434 inhabitants. The built-up area was 1.4 km2, and contained 2979 residences. The statistical area "Vleuten" has a population of around 7090.

Breukelen-Sint Pieters is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The municipality was formed in 1815, when the municipality of Breukelen was split into two parts. Breukelen-Sint Pieters covered the eastern part of the former municipality, including the village of Breukeleveen. In 1949, the municipalities of Breukelen-Nijenrode and Breukelen-Sint Pieters merged again, to form the municipality of Breukelen.

Utrecht Terwijde is a railway station on the Utrecht–Rotterdam railway. It is located between Vleuten and Utrecht Leidsche Rijn stations. The Terwijde neighbourhood is part of the Leidsche Rijn area under construction, west of Utrecht. Because of the large number of Commuters in this area, a temporary railway station was built in 2003. And in 2005 construction started next to this station for the actual station, which opened on 5 November 2007. Utrecht Terwijde railway station is part of a large project of expanding the two track line to four tracks on this stretch of the railway, which was completed in 2011.

Ockhuizen is a hamlet near the village of Haarzuilens in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is a part of the municipality of Utrecht, and lies about 11 km northwest from the city centre of Utrecht.The hamlet has about 10 farmhouses and other dwellings.

Nyenrode Business Universiteit (abbreviated as NBU; Dutch: Nyenrode Business Universiteit) is a Dutch business university and one of the five private universities in the Netherlands. Founded in 1946, it is located on a large estate in the town of Breukelen, between Amsterdam and Utrecht. The educational institution is named after the castle where the course is located: Nijenrode castle. Nyenrode was founded under the name of the Netherlands Training Institute for Abroad (NOIB in Dutch) by renowned private Dutch companies, including KLM, Shell, Unilever, Philips and AkzoNobel with an objective- 'For Business, By Business'. The establishment was the result of an idea from KLM director Albert Plesman.
