Kłobuck County

Gmina Kłobuck is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Kłobuck County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the town of Kłobuck, which lies approximately 75 kilometres (47 mi) north of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina covers an area of 130.4 square kilometres (50.3 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 20,412.

Kłobuck [ˈkwɔbut͡sk] is a town in southern Poland, with 12,934 inhabitants (2019). Located in the Silesian Voivodeship, about 15 km (9 mi) northwest of Częstochowa, it is the capital of Kłobuck County. Historically, Kłobuck belongs to Lesser Poland, and is located in its extreme northwestern corner, near the border with two other Polish historical provinces – Greater Poland, and Silesia. The town lies among the hills of Lesser Poland Upland. Most of Kłobuck lies 240 to 260 metres above sea level, and the highest point within town's limits is Dębowa Góra (284 metres). Kłobuck has the area of 47 km2 (18 sq mi), with forests taking up 20%.

Mokra [ˈmɔkra] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Miedźno, within Kłobuck County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 6 km (4 mi) north of Kłobuck and 80 km (50 mi) north of the regional capital Katowice. On 1 September 1939, it was the site of the Battle of Mokra, fought between the Polish cavalry brigade and a German panzer division. The one-day battle was won by the Poles.

The Battle of Mokra took place on 1 September 1939 near the village of Mokra, 5 km north of Kłobuck and 23 km north-west of Częstochowa, Poland. It was one of the first battles of the Invasion of Poland, during the Second World War, and was one of the few Polish victories of that campaign and the first German defeat of the conflict.

Its seat is the village of Wręczyca Wielka, which lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of Kłobuck and 67 km (42 mi) north of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina covers an area of 148.07 square kilometres (57.2 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 17,760. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Upper Liswarta Forests Landscape Park.
