The Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik, located in Liptovský Mikuláš, is Slovakia's only Military academy. It was originally established in 1945, right after the end of World War II, first as a High School and from 1973 as a university. AOS has about 500 students, including 50 PhD students. The school is organized in 8 departments: Department of Informatics Department of Mechanical Engineering Department of Electronics Department of Logistics Department of Social Sciences and Languages Department of the Physical Education and Sport Department of Security and Defense Department of Military Tactics and Operational ArtThe academy is named after Milan Rastislav Štefánik, a World War I era Czechoslovak Legion general. Since 2015, Jozef Puttear, himself an AOS alumnus, has served as the rector of AOS.

The Ondrej Cibak Whitewater Slalom Course, in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia, is the world's second-oldest artificial whitewater venue for international canoe slalom competition, after the Augsburg Eiskanal. Built in 1978, it diverts water around a small dam on the Váh river. With recent upgrades, including a covered stadium for spectators, it remains a prime site for the sport.As a training facility, it is home course for canoe slalom's most highly decorated athlete, Michal Martikán, who has five Olympic medals, two of them gold, and for Elena Kaliská, who also has two Olympic golds. Both athletes have won numerous World and European Championships.In addition to slalom practice, experienced paddlers can train in kayaks and canoes for running narrow creeks. For the general public, it operates as a family water park with guided raft trips.

Zimný štadión Liptovský Mikuláš (Liptovský Mikuláš Winter Sports Stadium) is an arena in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia. It is primarily used for ice hockey, and it is the home arena of MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš. It was opened in 1949 and holds 3,680 people.

Stadium Liptovský Mikuláš is a home football stadium in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia. It serves as home stadium for football club MFK Tatran Liptovský Mikuláš. The stadium has a capacity of 1,950 (610 seats).

Aquapark Tatralandia Holiday Resort is the biggest aqua-park in Slovakia and one of the biggest in Central Europe. It is located 4 km north-west from town Liptovský Mikuláš in Ráztoky, on the north bank of dam Liptovská Mara. The source of the thermal water is a mineral spring coming from a 2500m deep bore with temperature of 60.7 °C. There are 9 thermal pools, 6 of them are open all year-round; while 2 of them are covered, with water temperature around 38 °C. Located in the close proximity of the Tatra Mountains, the waterpark resort is open daily from 10am-10pm, and is open most of the year.
