The economy is based on agriculture and shepherding. Onifai is well known for its pecorino cheese (most production is exported to the European continent, United States and Canada) and vernaccia wine made with Cannonau grapes. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 765 and an area of 43.0 square kilometres (16.6 sq mi).Onifai borders the following municipalities: Galtellì, Irgoli, Orosei, Siniscola.

Ovodda borders the following municipalities: Desulo, Fonni, Gavoi, Ollolai, Teti, Tiana.

Gusana is the name of an artificial lake and of the surrounding area, in the territory of Gavoi, Sardinia, Italy. The lake was built in the 1930s to store water for an electricity generator (central of Coghinadordza), and it covered an ancient Roman bridge as well as an ancient archaeological site of the Nuragici people. It is now a tourist destination.

Olzai (Sardinian: Ortzài) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) north of Cagliari and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Nuoro. The Menhir Museum, or Civic Archaeological Museum of the Menhir Statues, located in the Aymerich Palace in the village of Laconi, is a unique museum of its kind for its rich collection of steles found in the Laconi area, with the first discovery in 1969.

San Nicola is a church in Ottana, central Sardinia, Italy. Dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra, it was consecrated in 1160. It is located on a hill commanding the town and is reached through a staircase. The interior houses a 16th-century wooden crucifix and a 14th-century polyptych, known as Ottana Altarpiece. It is attributed to a "Master of the Franciscan tempera", active in Naples between 1330 and 1345. Among other figures, it portrays the then hereditary giudice of Arborea, Mariano IV of Arborea.

Museo Nivola (Nivola Museum in English) in Orani, Sardinia, Italy is an institution devoted to the work of artist Costantino Nivola within the larger context of contemporary art, landscape and living traditions. The museum was established in 1994, a few years after the death of Nivola (1911-1988), a native of Orani, and has been expanding ever since. The permanent collection boasts hundreds of sculptural and graphic pieces by Nivola, who played a unique role in 20th century modernism as an artist who worked closely with architects. Aside from exhibiting Nivola's work, the museum produces temporary exhibitions on a regular basis. These center mainly on the relationship between art, architecture, and landscape, with a special focus on artists and movements that were close to Nivola, whose friends included Le Corbusier, Jackson Pollock, Saul Steinberg, Willem de Kooning, Alexander Calder and many other protagonists of mid-20th century art. Orani sits at an altitude of 526 meters, at the foot of Mount Gonare, in the heart of the Barbagia region. Among the notable archaeological sites in the area are approximately 30 nuraghi and several “tombs of the giants”. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Gonare at the crest of the mountain is of particular interest, as is the natural landscape on the road leading up to it. Orani excels in handicrafts. It is famous for its stonework, carpentry, and metalwork, and for tailors specializing in the use of traditional Sardinian velvet.
