Olzai

Gavoi is a comune in central Sardinia (Italy), part of the province of Nuoro, in the natural region of Barbagia. It overlooks the Lake of Gusana.

Sarule is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 170 kilometres (110 mi) north of Cagliari and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Nuoro. Museo Nivola (Nivola Museum in English) in Orani, Sardinia, Italy is an institution devoted to the work of artist Costantino Nivola within the larger context of contemporary art, landscape and living traditions. The museum was established in 1994, a few years after the death of Nivola (1911-1988), a native of Orani, and has been expanding ever since. The permanent collection boasts hundreds of sculptural and graphic pieces by Nivola, who played a unique role in 20th century modernism as an artist who worked closely with architects. Aside from exhibiting Nivola's work, the museum produces temporary exhibitions on a regular basis. These center mainly on the relationship between art, architecture, and landscape, with a special focus on artists and movements that were close to Nivola, whose friends included Le Corbusier, Jackson Pollock, Saul Steinberg, Willem de Kooning, Alexander Calder and many other protagonists of mid-20th century art. Orani sits at an altitude of 526 meters, at the foot of Mount Gonare, in the heart of the Barbagia region. Among the notable archaeological sites in the area are approximately 30 nuraghi and several “tombs of the giants”. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Gonare at the crest of the mountain is of particular interest, as is the natural landscape on the road leading up to it. Orani excels in handicrafts. It is famous for its stonework, carpentry, and metalwork, and for tailors specializing in the use of traditional Sardinian velvet.

Gusana is the name of an artificial lake and of the surrounding area, in the territory of Gavoi, Sardinia, Italy. The lake was built in the 1930s to store water for an electricity generator (central of Coghinadordza), and it covered an ancient Roman bridge as well as an ancient archaeological site of the Nuragici people. It is now a tourist destination.

Ovodda (Sardinian: Ovòdda) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) north of Cagliari and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Nuoro. Ovodda borders the following municipalities: Desulo, Fonni, Gavoi, Ollolai, Teti, Tiana.

Oniferi (Sardinian: Onieri) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) north of Cagliari and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Nuoro. Oniferi borders the following municipalities: Benetutti, Bono, Orani, Orotelli. The Oniferi economy is mostly based on animal husbandry. Sights include several Nuragic and pre-Nuragic archaeological sites, such as the Necropolis of Sas Concas.

Teti is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) north of Cagliari and about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southwest of Nuoro. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 784 and an area of 43.9 square kilometres (16.9 sq mi).Teti borders the following municipalities: Austis, Ollolai, Olzai, Ovodda, Tiana.

Tiana, Tìana in Sardinian language, is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, located in a valley on the slopes of Gennargentu mountain in the Ollolai Barbagia, about 150 kilometres (93 mi) north of Cagliari and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southwest of Nuoro. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 547 and an area of 19.3 square kilometres (7.5 sq mi).Tiana borders the following municipalities: Austis, Desulo, Ovodda, Sorgono, Teti, Tonara.

San Nicola is a church in Ottana, central Sardinia, Italy. Dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra, it was consecrated in 1160. It is located on a hill commanding the town and is reached through a staircase. The interior houses a 16th-century wooden crucifix and a 14th-century polyptych, known as Ottana Altarpiece. It is attributed to a "Master of the Franciscan tempera", active in Naples between 1330 and 1345. Among other figures, it portrays the then hereditary giudice of Arborea, Mariano IV of Arborea.

Sorgono (Sardinian: Sòrgono) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) north of Cagliari and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of Nuoro. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,927 and an area of 56.2 square kilometres (21.7 sq mi).Sorgono borders the following municipalities: Atzara, Austis, Belvì, Neoneli, Ortueri, Samugheo, Tiana, Tonara. The novelist D. H. Lawrence visited Sorgono in 1921 and described the town and its inhabitants in Chapter 5 of Sea and Sardinia.
