Daphni Cave

Daphni or Dafni (Modern Greek: Δαφνί; Katharevousa: Δαφνίον, Daphnion) is an eleventh-century Byzantine monastery eleven kilometers (6.8 miles) northwest of central Athens in the suburb of Chaidari, south of Athinon Avenue (GR-8A). It is situated near the forest of the same name, on the Sacred Way that led to Eleusis. The forest covers about 18 km2 (7 sq mi), and surrounds a laurel grove. "Daphni" is the modern Greek name that means "laurel grove", derived from Daphneion (Lauretum).The Daphni Monastery, along with the famous monasteries of Hosios Loukas near Delphi and Nea Moni on the island of Chios, are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites for their significant historical and architectural value. These monasteries are famed as masterpieces of middle Byzantine architecture, and are especially noted for their sumptuous interior gold-ground mosaics.

Cettus or Kettos (Ancient Greek: Κηττός) was a deme, or suburb, of ancient Attica of the phyle of Leontis, sending three or four delegates to the Boule.Its site is tentatively located near modern Daphni.

Eroeadae or Eroiadai (Ancient Greek: Ἐροιάδαι) was a deme in ancient Attica of the phyle of Hippothontis, sending one delegate to the Athenian Boule..Its site is located near modern Chaidari.

Haidari (Greek: Χαϊδάρι, Khaidari) is a suburban town in the western part of the Athens agglomeration, west of Athens city proper.

Agia Varvara (Greek: Αγία Βαρβάρα, meaning Saint Barbara) is a suburban town in the western part of the Athens agglomeration in Attica, Greece and a municipality in the West Athens regional unit.

The Haidari concentration camp (Greek: στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης Χαϊδαρίου, romanized: stratópedo syngéntrosis Chaidaríou; German: KZ Chaidari) was a concentration camp operated by the German Schutzstaffel at the Athens suburb of Haidari during the Axis occupation of Greece in World War II. Operating from September 1943 until it was shut down in September 1944, it was the largest and most notorious concentration camp in wartime Greece, becoming known as the "Bastille of Greece".It was a transit camp established on the grounds of a Greek Army barracks, and it is estimated that in the one year of its operation, some 21,000 people passed through it, including Jews, Italian POWs and Greek political prisoners. The majority of these was transported north, to Auschwitz in the case of the Jews, or to forced labour in Germany, while others were detained for questioning by the Gestapo. It is estimated that ca. 2,000 inmates were executed there during the camp's operation.

Corydallus or Korydallos (Ancient Greek: Κορυδαλλός) was a deme of ancient Attica, at the foot of the mountain of the same name, and is placed by Strabo between Thria and Peiraeeus, near the straits of Salamis, opposite the islands of Pharmacussae. This position is in accordance with the account of Diodorus, who, after relating the contest of Theseus with Cercyon, which, according to Pausanias, took place to the west of Eleusis, says that Theseus next killed Procrustes, whose abode was in Corydallus. Pliny the Elder mistakenly says that Corydallus is a mountain on the frontiers of Boeotia and Attica.The site of Corydallus is near the modern Korydallos.

Skaramagas (also spelled Skaramangas; Greek: Σκαραμαγκάς) is a port town in the western part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. It is part of the municipality of Haidari. It is known for its large shipyard. It took its name by the Chiot merchant Amvrosios Skaramagas.

Korydallos (Greek: Κορυδαλλός; Latin: Corydallus) is both a town and a municipality in the Piraeus regional unit, Greece. It is located in the southwestern part of Athens agglomeration.

Neapoli Stadium is a football stadium in Nikea, Piraeus, Attica. The stadium was completed in 1965, and currently has a seating capacity of about 6,000.The stadium is mostly used for football matches and is the home field for Ionikos F.C. Record attendance is 6,565 for a match against Olympiacos F.C. in 1990. On June 13, 2009, it was also used as the field for the Rugby Sevens' finals of the Hellenic Rugby Federation.

Agia Varvara (Greek: Αγία Bαρβάρα) is a station on Athens Metro Line 3. A part of the Piraeus extension, construction on the station began in 2012 and it opened on July 7, 2020, along with the extension's phase I to Nikaia.

Hermus or Hermos (Ancient Greek: Ἕρμος) was a deme of ancient Attica. It lay on the sacred road to Eleusis, between the Cephissus and the Pythium, a temple of Apollo on Mount Poecilum, upon a rivulet of the same name. Here was the splendid monument of Pythonice, the wife of Harpalus.The site of Hermus is tentatively identified with Chaidari.
