Hermus (Attica)

The Haidari concentration camp (Greek: στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης Χαϊδαρίου, romanized: stratópedo syngéntrosis Chaidaríou; German: KZ Chaidari) was a concentration camp operated by the German Schutzstaffel at the Athens suburb of Haidari during the Axis occupation of Greece in World War II. Operating from September 1943 until it was shut down in September 1944, it was the largest and most notorious concentration camp in wartime Greece, becoming known as the "Bastille of Greece".It was a transit camp established on the grounds of a Greek Army barracks, and it is estimated that in the one year of its operation, some 21,000 people passed through it, including Jews, Italian POWs and Greek political prisoners. The majority of these was transported north, to Auschwitz in the case of the Jews, or to forced labour in Germany, while others were detained for questioning by the Gestapo. It is estimated that ca. 2,000 inmates were executed there during the camp's operation.

Haidari (Greek: Χαϊδάρι, Khaidari) is a suburban town in the western part of the Athens agglomeration, west of Athens city proper.

West Athens (Greek: Δυτικός Τομέας Αθηνών) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Attica. The regional unit covers the west-central part of the agglomeration of Athens.

The University of West Attica (UniWA; Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Δυτικής Αττικής, ΠαΔΑ) was established in 2018 as a result of the merger of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens and the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus and is situated in Athens, Greece. The National School of Public Health also joined the newly established institution in 2019 and UniWA now comprises 6 Schools and 27 Departments covering a wide range of modern Science, including Social, Administrative and Economic Sciences, Health and Food Sciences, Engineering, and Art Studies. Today, it is the third largest university in Greece (after the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), and is considered the fastest growing university in the country and one of the fastest growing universities in Southeastern Europe.

The Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Athens (TEI ATH; Greek: Ανώτατο Τεχνολογικό Εκπαιδευτικό Ίδρυμα Αθήνας) was a state higher-educational institute in Athens.Founded in 1983, it originated from one of the first five Centres for Higher Technical Education (Greek: Κέντρα Ανώτερης Τεχνικής Επαγγελματικής Εκπαίδευσης, Κ.Α.Τ.Ε.Ε.) initially established in 1974. The Technological Educational Institute of Athens offered a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate studies.On 1 March 2018 the institute was merged with TEI of Piraeus to create the newly established University of West Attica (Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Δυτικής Αττικής).

Eroeadae or Eroiadai (Ancient Greek: Ἐροιάδαι) was a deme in ancient Attica of the phyle of Hippothontis, sending one delegate to the Athenian Boule..Its site is located near modern Chaidari.

Petroupoli (Greek: Πετρούπολη, meaning "City/town of Petros/Peter ") is a semi-mountainous town in Attica that falls under the administrative sector of West Athens. Petroupoli was part of the community of Nea Liosia until 1946, when it became a separate community. It was elevated to municipality status in 1972.

Agia Marina (Greek: Αγία Μαρίνα) is an underground metro station in Athens, Greece. The station has park and ride facilities. A part of the Piraeus extension, construction works on the station began in 2007, before the rest of the extension. It was expected to be open by 2010 but was delayed several times due to the Siemens Greek bribery scandal. The station opened to the public on 14 December 2013 and served as the line's eastern terminus until 2020.

Anthoupoli (Greek: Ανθούπολη) is the northern terminal station of Athens Metro Line 2 since the Peristeri extension in April 2013.

Perithoedae or Perithoidai (Ancient Greek: Περιθοῖδαι) was a deme of ancient Attica, of the phyle Oineïs; it provided three delegates to the Athenian Boule.The site of Perithoedae is located in the Kephisos valley, west of modern Athens.
