Santa Lucia Preserve

Rancho Potrero de San Carlos was a one square league (4,307-acre (17.43 km2)) Mexican land grant in present-day Monterey County, California. It was given in 1837 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to Fructuoso del Real, a Native American from the Mission San Carlos. The land had been part of the pasture of the Mission San Carlos. The grant was located on the south bank of the Carmel River. As of current day, it is part of The Santa Lucia Preserve, a gated community and nature preserve.

Rancho Cañada de la Segunda was a 4,367-acre (17.67 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Monterey County, California given in 1839 by Governor José Castro to Lazaro Soto. The grant extended along the north bank of the Carmel River, from the Pacific coast and present day Carmel-by-the-Sea up into the Carmel Valley.

All Saints Day School is a private coeducational school for preschool through grade 8, located on 17 acres in Carmel, California. It was originally named after the first Episcopal bishop of California, William Ingraham Kip; the Bishop Kip School changed its name to All Saints' Episcopal Day School shortly after its founding in Pacific Grove, California in 1961. The first headmaster was Reverend Peter Farmer, also known as Father Farmer, who remained in that position for sixteen years. On its first day of classes the school had five students in kindergarten, eight in first grade, and four members of faculty and staff, including Father Farmer. As of August 2017, according to the school website, the campus consists of 17 acres, with 175 students in K-8th grade, and has 30 faculty members.On January 30, 2019, All Saints Day School announced that former Super Bowl winning linebacker and Captain of the New Orleans Saints Defensive Unit, Scott Fujita will be the new Head of School, commencing July 1, 2019. Fujita holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration, and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with honors.

Jacks Peak Park is a county park in Monterey County, California. Its central feature is Jacks Peak, the highest point on the Monterey Peninsula, rising 1,068 feet (325 m) above Monterey and Carmel. The park encompasses 525 acres under control of the Monterey County Parks Department.

The 4,500 acres (1,800 ha) Palo Corona Ranch, also known as Fish Ranch, was once a private ranch located on the northern end of Big Sur, California, between Garrapata State Park to the west, Carmel Valley on the north, and Santa Lucia Preserve to the east. The ranch is now owned by Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District (MPRPD) In 2002, the Big Sur Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy acquired the land and transferred ownership to MPRPD in 2004, which created the Palo Corona Regional Park. Key habitat and resources include coastal grasslands and woodland, ponds, and perennial creeks.

James Meadows Tract, also known as Rancho Palo Escrito, was a 4,592 acres (1,858 ha) Mexican land grant in present-day Monterey County, California given on January 27, 1840, by Governor Juan Alvarado to Carmel Mission civil administrator, José Antonio Romero. The land was later sold by Monterey businessman Thomas O. Larkin to English-born James Meadows (1817–1902) in 1848. The grant extended along the Carmel River and Carmel Valley, bounded by Rancho Cañada de la Segunda to the west, Rancho Los Laureles to the east, and Garland Ranch Regional Park to the south. Meadows received the legal land patent on August 9, 1866, that became known as the Meadows Tract for 4,591.71 acres (1,858.20 ha).

The Big Sur International Marathon is an annual marathon held in California, United States along the Pacific coast. The marathon was established in 1986 and attracts about 4,500 participants annually. In addition to the marathon, the event usually includes a 21-mile (34 km) race, a relay, a 5K run, and various walks. Runners in the marathon have 6 hours in which to complete it. Since the marathon was first run, over $2 million in grants has been disbursed to charities. The finish line for all events is the Crossroads Shopping Center in Carmel, California. The Marathon begins south of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, the Power Walk and 21-mile (34 km) race begin at Andrew Molera State Park, and the 10.6-mile (17.1 km) walk and run begin at Rocky Point Restaurant. The 9-mile (14 km) and 5 km races begin and end at the finish line. The Marathon route follows State Route 1 and crosses the Bixby Creek Bridge at the halfway point. Hurricane Point is the summit of 560 feet between mile markers 10 and 12. There are 11 aid stations along the route. The marathon course is known for its challenging hills in the second half of the race.The 2020 and 2021 editions of the race were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, with all registrants of the 2020 edition receiving a 60% refund and given the option to sign up during a priority registration period for 2022 or 2023.

Hatton Canyon is a canyon in Carmel Valley, California, United States, preserved for urban open space as a state park property. The canyon harbors Monterey pines and 10 acres (4.0 ha) of wetland.

Hatton Fields is an unincorporated community southeast of downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea in Monterey County, California, United States. Homes have views of Carmel Valley, Point Lobos, and Carmel Bay. The residential neighborhood is bordered by Rio Road to the south, Hatton Road to the north, Hatton Canyon to the east, and Junipero Street to the west. The terrain is rolling and naturally landscaped with mature oaks, redwoods, and Monterey Pine trees. Carmel High School, Carmel Mission, and Flanders Mansion are landmarks in this neighborhood. Carmel Mission and Flanders Mansion are two properties that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Mission Trail Nature Preserve runs adjacent to Hatton Fields. Homes are part of the Carmel Unified School District.

Tehàma Golf Club ( tə-HAY-mə) is a private golf club outside of Carmel Valley, California owned by Clint Eastwood and is part of the Tehàma private community. Designed by golf architect Jay Morrish, ASGCA and opened in 1999, the private course features 6,506 yards that overlook the Pacific, and it is surrounded by privately owned homesites. Membership is by invitation only.The Spanish style clubhouse features a bar, restaurant, ballroom, and four suites, with interior design by American art director Henry Bumstead.

Carmel High School is a school of 874 students and 50-plus faculty members, situated directly off of Highway 1 within the city of Carmel, California. It is a part of Carmel Unified School District. Carmel High is known for its view of the Santa Lucia Mountains with a peek of Point Lobos and the Pacific Ocean. It is in one of the most affluent school districts in California, due to a state law which allows the school to opt out of ADA (average daily attendance) funding, choosing instead to receive revenue from local property taxes, which in Carmel's case, are quite high. As a result, Carmel High School salary schedules for teachers, counselors, and administrators are among some of the highest in the state of California. Carmel Unified School District is the second largest geographical district in the state of California enrolling students up to 40 miles (64 km) south of Carmel and 20 miles (32 km) east. Communities represented by Carmel USD, which has Carmel High as its only comprehensive high school, include Carmel-by-the-Sea, the majority of Carmel Valley Village, and sections of Del Monte Forest. The district also includes Big Sur, and Pebble Beach. Built in 1940, the school has recently made significant capital improvements including a new performing arts theater, math wing, science wing, and library with plans to renovate the current administration building. Both the theater and science wing utilized "green" construction practices, such as energy efficient lights and appliances.

Outlands in the Eighty Acres, also known as Flanders Mansion is an 8,000-square-foot Tudor Revival house. It is significant as a work of architect Henry Higby Gutterson and for its innovative construction with light grey interlocking Precast concrete blocks. The mansion is preserved within the Mission Trail Nature Preserve in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 23, 1989.
