Mürren is a traditional Walser mountain village in the Bernese Highlands of Switzerland, at an elevation of 1,638 metres (5,374 ft) above sea level and it cannot be reached by public road. It is also one of the popular tourist spots in Switzerland, and summer and winter are the seasons when Mürren becomes busy with tourists. The village features a view of the three towering mountains Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Mürren has a year-round population of 450, but has 2,000 hotel beds. Mürren has its own school and two churches, one Reformed and one Roman Catholic.

The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1931 were held 19–23 February in Mürren, Switzerland. These were the inaugural world championships for alpine skiing organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS), and consisted of downhill and slalom events for men and women.

Mürren is a railway station and terminus of the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren, a hybrid cable car and rail link that connects it with the village of Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It takes its name from the resort village of Mürren in which it is situated.The station has two passenger tracks within the lower level of a two-level station building, with a street entrance at the upper level. The Lauterbrunnen-Mürren line also handles goods traffic to and from Mürren, and a freight depot is situated to the north of the passenger station. The station is served by the following passenger trains: Between 1894 and the 1930s, Mürren station was linked to the Kurhaus in Mürren village by the Mürren tramway, a 500 m (1,600 ft) long, 500 mm (19+3⁄4 in) gauge, horse-drawn tramway. The passenger car for this line has been restored, and is now on display in the upper level of the station.

The Mürrenbachfall is a waterfall in the Lauterbrunnental in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. The Mürrenbach, which rises above Mürren, passes the village on the southern edge of the town and falls here over the high rock walls of the Trogtal almost to the valley floor, is a left tributary of the Weissen Lütschine with a catchment area of three and a half square kilometers. According to studies from 2009, the Mürrenbachfall is considered the highest waterfall in Switzerland with a drop of 417 meters. The Mürrenbachfall, previously known as cascade fall was redefined by geographers into a single case because, upon careful investigation, they could not find any horizontal planes typical of cascades in the case. However, this assignment is not completely clear. The second highest waterfall in Switzerland is the Serenbachfall II, which is 305 meters high.The Mürrenbachfall is not a free-falling waterfall on an overhanging rock like, for example, the Staubbachfall, also located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, which at 297 meters is considered the highest free-falling waterfall in Switzerland. The water falls down here along the almost vertical rock of the Mürrenfluh. In addition to the main fall, there are various other waterfalls on the Mürrenbach, so that people often talk about the Mürrenbach Falls, which together fall 750 meters deep into the valley in several stages. The impact zone of the main fall is around 920 m. The waterfall is located near the valley station of the cable car to Mürren in Stechelberg, where the Mürrenbach flows into the Lütschine. It can also be clearly seen from the cable car.

The Allmendhubel (1,932 m) is a hill above Mürren, overlooking the valley of Lauterbrunnen in the canton of Bern. Its summit is easily accessible from Mürren by a funicular, the Allmendhubelbahn, which reaches a height of 1,907 metres. A restaurant is also located near the top. In winter, the Allmendhubel is part of a ski area and includes several ski lifts.

Stechelberg is a small village in Switzerland located at the base of the Schwarzmönch mountain in the Bernese Alps, part of the district of Lauterbrunnen.

The Lauterbrunnen Wall is a term used in the English-speaking mountaineering world to refer to a north-west-facing mountain wall in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. It runs for 8 kilometres from the Gletscherhorn (3,983 m) in the east, through the Ebnefluh, (3,962 m), the Mittaghorn (3,897m) and the Grosshorn (3,754 m), to the Breithorn (3,785 m) in the west, where the wall comes to an end at the col which separates it from the Tschingelhorn. The Wall is named after the village of Lauterbrunnen, which lies to the north. The Wall has been a popular venue for ice-climbing since the 1930s, when it was tackled by Feuz, von Allmen and Welzenbach. Many of the routes are less frequently attempted today, because of relatively difficult access (in the context of the Alps) and objective danger.On 12 April 2007 a Luftwaffe Tornado stationed in Lechfeld, Bavaria crashed high into the Wall between the Mittaghorn and the Ebnefluh. The jet was "practically pulverized" and the pilot was killed on impact; his weapon systems officer, who ejected, was rescued by the mountain rescue services. The cause of the crash was poor flight planning: The Lauterbrunnen valley is not suitable for military fighter jets because of heavy paraglider, hang glider and helicopter traffic during the day time, and as the jet had refuelled just a short time ago, the configuration of the Tornado was too heavy for the necessary climb rate to clear the Lauterbrunnen Wall. The crew did not violate any regulations during their flight, though.

Winteregg is a railway station on the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren, a hybrid cable car and rail link that connects the villages of Lauterbrunnen and Mürren in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Winteregg is the point at which trains on the rail link between Lauterbrunnen and Mürren pass.The station is served by the following passenger trains: There is also a restaurant at Winteregg and during the winter months a four-man chairlift with a bubble (constructed in 2009 and first used in the 2009–2010 season) takes skiers up the hillside.

The Lauterbrunnen–Mürren Mountain Railway (German: Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen–Mürren, BLM, also known as Mürrenbahn) is a hybrid transport system in the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland, which connects the villages of Lauterbrunnen and Mürren. The system consists of a connected aerial cableway, also known as the Grütschalpbahn, and an adhesion worked mountain railway. The cableway replaced a funicular, on the same route, in 2010.The line provides a vital passenger and goods link to the resort village of Mürren, which is situated above the cliffs of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and has poor road access. It also commands a view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains across the depths of that valley.The line is owned by the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren AG, a subsidiary of the Jungfraubahn Holding AG, a holding company that also owns the Wengernalpbahn, Jungfraubahn, Harderbahn, and Firstbahn. Through that holding company it is part of the Allianz - Jungfrau Top of Europe marketing alliance, which also includes the separately owned Berner Oberland-Bahn and Schynige Platte-Bahn.

The Trümmelbach Falls (German: Trimmelbachfälle or Trümmelbachfälle) in Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, are a series of ten glacier-fed waterfalls inside the mountain made accessible by the tunnel lift, stairs, and illumination. Located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, the creek called Trimmelbach or Trümmelbach alone drains the northerly glacier defiles of Eiger (3967 m), Mönch (4099 m), and Jungfrau (4158 m) and carries more than 20,000 tons of boulder detritus per year.Its drainage area is 24 square kilometres (9.3 sq mi), half of it covered by snow and glaciers. The falls carry up to 20,000 litres of water per second.After the hamlet of the same name on the valley floor the Trümmelbach feed into the Weisse Lütschine, which heads north through the valley and the village of Lauterbrunnen further down to join after 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) its sister river, the Schwarze Lütschine at Zweilütschinen, where they join to the Lütschine.

Gimmelwald is a small traffic free village in the Bernese Oberland in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland, and is located between Stechelberg and Mürren, at an elevation of 1363 meters (4472 feet). The village is at the foot of the UNESCO World Heritage site the Jungfrau-Aletsch Protected Area. Gimmelwald is an allemanic linear village and a walser settlement first mentioned in a bill of sale in 1346. Because of its very typical and exceptional townscape, Gimmelwald is part of the inventory of Swiss heritage.Gimmelwald is one of the few traffic-free villages in Switzerland where access by car is not possible due to a missing road connection. The Schilthorn cable car stops in Gimmelwald, where it is possible to board another cable car which runs between Gimmelwald and Mürren. Farming and tourism are the main source of income today. Farmers raise hay on tiny plots of land to feed small herds of cows. In winter, farmers often work as well for the Schilthorn cable car by performing jobs like running ski lifts or ski-slope grooming. In the year 2003 the population of Gimmelwald was 130. The local school closed in 2010 due to the small number of students and students now attend the school in Lauterbrunnen. The school building was bought in 2019 by a cooperative to convert the school building into flats and to prevent it from being used as a holiday flat.

Staubbach Falls (German: Staubbachfall (sing.), lit.: dust creek fall) is a waterfall in Switzerland, located just west of Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Highlands. The waterfall drops 297 metres (974 feet) from a hanging valley that ends in overhanging cliffs above the Weisse Lütschine.The stream, on reaching the verge of the rocky walls of the valley, forms a cascade so high that it is almost lost in spray before it reaches the level of the valley. After rain, and early in the season when fed by melting snow, Staubbach Falls is very striking. The force of the stream above the fall at such times is sufficient to carry the water clear of the precipice, and the whole mass descends in a condition of liquid dust, between spray and cloud, that sways to-and-fro with the gentlest breeze. In a dry summer, when the supply of water is much reduced, the effect is comparatively insignificant.A visit by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1779 provided the inspiration for his poem "Gesang der Geister über den Wassern". The falls were featured on the 3-centime Swiss postage stamp of the 1930s.
