The Lauterbrunnen–Mürren Mountain Railway (German: Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen–Mürren, BLM, also known as Mürrenbahn) is a hybrid transport system in the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland, which connects the villages of Lauterbrunnen and Mürren. The system consists of a connected aerial cableway, also known as the Grütschalpbahn, and an adhesion worked mountain railway. The cableway replaced a funicular, on the same route, in 2010.The line provides a vital passenger and goods link to the resort village of Mürren, which is situated above the cliffs of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and has poor road access. It also commands a view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains across the depths of that valley.The line is owned by the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren AG, a subsidiary of the Jungfraubahn Holding AG, a holding company that also owns the Wengernalpbahn, Jungfraubahn, Harderbahn, and Firstbahn. Through that holding company it is part of the Allianz - Jungfrau Top of Europe marketing alliance, which also includes the separately owned Berner Oberland-Bahn and Schynige Platte-Bahn.

The Lauterbrunnen Wall is a term used in the English-speaking mountaineering world to refer to a north-west-facing mountain wall in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. It runs for 8 kilometres from the Gletscherhorn (3,983 m) in the east, through the Ebnefluh, (3,962 m), the Mittaghorn (3,897m) and the Grosshorn (3,754 m), to the Breithorn (3,785 m) in the west, where the wall comes to an end at the col which separates it from the Tschingelhorn. The Wall is named after the village of Lauterbrunnen, which lies to the north. The Wall has been a popular venue for ice-climbing since the 1930s, when it was tackled by Feuz, von Allmen and Welzenbach. Many of the routes are less frequently attempted today, because of relatively difficult access (in the context of the Alps) and objective danger.On 12 April 2007 a Luftwaffe Tornado stationed in Lechfeld, Bavaria crashed high into the Wall between the Mittaghorn and the Ebnefluh. The jet was "practically pulverized" and the pilot was killed on impact; his weapon systems officer, who ejected, was rescued by the mountain rescue services. The cause of the crash was poor flight planning: The Lauterbrunnen valley is not suitable for military fighter jets because of heavy paraglider, hang glider and helicopter traffic during the day time, and as the jet had refuelled just a short time ago, the configuration of the Tornado was too heavy for the necessary climb rate to clear the Lauterbrunnen Wall. The crew did not violate any regulations during their flight, though.

Staubbach Falls (German: Staubbachfall (sing.), lit.: dust creek fall) is a waterfall in Switzerland, located just west of Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Highlands. The waterfall drops 297 metres (974 feet) from a hanging valley that ends in overhanging cliffs above the Weisse Lütschine.The stream, on reaching the verge of the rocky walls of the valley, forms a cascade so high that it is almost lost in spray before it reaches the level of the valley. After rain, and early in the season when fed by melting snow, Staubbach Falls is very striking. The force of the stream above the fall at such times is sufficient to carry the water clear of the precipice, and the whole mass descends in a condition of liquid dust, between spray and cloud, that sways to-and-fro with the gentlest breeze. In a dry summer, when the supply of water is much reduced, the effect is comparatively insignificant.A visit by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in 1779 provided the inspiration for his poem "Gesang der Geister über den Wassern". The falls were featured on the 3-centime Swiss postage stamp of the 1930s.

Grütschalp is a railway station on the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren, a hybrid cable car and rail link that connects the villages of Lauterbrunnen and Mürren in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Grütschalp is the point of interchange between the cable car from Lauterbrunnen and the high-level railway from Mürren.The Lauterbrunnen-Mürren line opened in 1891, but until 2006 the connection between Lauterbrunnen and Grütschalp was effected by Seilbahn Lauterbrunnen–Grütschalp, a funicular railway. The current cable car replaced this when the funicular was damaged by landslides, and uses the same route and adapted terminal stations.The Lauterbrunnen-Mürren line also handles goods traffic to and from Mürren. This is done by carrying the goods in pallets that are carried under the cable car and on flat cars towed by the railcars. The pallets are transferred between the two by a complicated machine, part fork lift truck and part funicular, within the Grütschalp station complex. Mürren is a railway station and terminus of the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren, a hybrid cable car and rail link that connects it with the village of Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It takes its name from the resort village of Mürren in which it is situated.The station has two passenger tracks within the lower level of a two-level station building, with a street entrance at the upper level. The Lauterbrunnen-Mürren line also handles goods traffic to and from Mürren, and a freight depot is situated to the north of the passenger station. The station is served by the following passenger trains: Between 1894 and the 1930s, Mürren station was linked to the Kurhaus in Mürren village by the Mürren tramway, a 500 m (1,600 ft) long, 500 mm (19+3⁄4 in) gauge, horse-drawn tramway. The passenger car for this line has been restored, and is now on display in the upper level of the station.

Lauterbrunnen is a village and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. The municipality comprises the other villages of Wengen, Mürren, Gimmelwald, Stechelberg, and Isenfluh, as well as several other hamlets. The population of the village of Lauterbrunnen is less than that of Wengen, but larger than that of the others. The municipality comprises the Lauterbrunnen Valley (German: Lauterbrunnental), located at the foot of the Bernese Alps. It is notably overlooked by the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau and many other high peaks. The valley, drained by the White Lütschine, comprehends the Soustal, the Sefinental and the upper Lauterbrunnen Valley with Untersteinberg. The valley includes several glaciers. Together with the adjacent valley of Grindelwald, the Lauterbrunnen Valley forms part of the Jungfrau Region of the Bernese Oberland, between Interlaken and the main crest of the Bernese Alps. Similarly to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen has become a major tourist destination and is connected to Interlaken by the Bernese Oberland Railway and is the start of the Wengernalp Railway, leading to Kleine Scheidegg. The latter resort is the start of the Jungfrau Railway, the highest railway in Europe and a gateway to the Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area.

The Allmendhubel (1,932 m) is a hill above Mürren, overlooking the valley of Lauterbrunnen in the canton of Bern. Its summit is easily accessible from Mürren by a funicular, the Allmendhubelbahn, which reaches a height of 1,907 metres. A restaurant is also located near the top. In winter, the Allmendhubel is part of a ski area and includes several ski lifts.

Lauterbrunnen is a railway station in the village and municipality of Lauterbrunnen in the Swiss canton of Bern. The station is on the Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB), whose trains operate services to Interlaken Ost. It is also the valley terminus of the Wengernalpbahn (WAB), whose trains operate to Kleine Scheidegg via Wengen, and of the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren (BLM), whose hybrid cable car and rail link runs to Mürren. Before 2006, this was a funicular (Seilbahn Lauterbrunnen–Grütschalp). The BOB and WAB lines use different gauges, and there is no physical connection between them. However the trains operate from adjacent platforms within the same station. Trains of the BOB enter the station from the north, whilst trains of the WAB enter from the south. The lower, cable car, stage of the BLM departs from a terminal across the street from the main station which is connected to the main station via an underground walkway. The depot and workshop of the WAB lies to the south of the station.

Seilbahn Mürren-Allmendhubel (SMA), also Allmendhubelbahn, is a funicular in Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. The Allmendhubelbahn was brought into service in 1912, in order to simplify trade with other communes. It was soon used by many tourists and mountain hikers, and in the winter by skiers. It begins in Mürren (at 46.5607°N 7.8928°E / 46.5607; 7.8928 (Allmendhubelbahn station at Mürren) 1,650 m or 5,413 ft above sea level) with a maximum upward gradient of 61% up to the Allmendhubel (at 46.564°N 7.889°E / 46.564; 7.889 (Allmendhubel station) 1,907 m or 6,257 ft). The 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge line is 551 m (1,808 ft) long. In 1999 the old red cars were replaced by new panoramic cars.

Mürren is a traditional Walser mountain village in the Bernese Highlands of Switzerland, at an elevation of 1,638 metres (5,374 ft) above sea level and it cannot be reached by public road. It is also one of the popular tourist spots in Switzerland, and summer and winter are the seasons when Mürren becomes busy with tourists. The village features a view of the three towering mountains Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Mürren has a year-round population of 450, but has 2,000 hotel beds. Mürren has its own school and two churches, one Reformed and one Roman Catholic.

The Trümmelbach Falls (German: Trimmelbachfälle or Trümmelbachfälle) in Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, are a series of ten glacier-fed waterfalls inside the mountain made accessible by the tunnel lift, stairs, and illumination. Located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, the creek called Trimmelbach or Trümmelbach alone drains the northerly glacier defiles of Eiger (3967 m), Mönch (4099 m), and Jungfrau (4158 m) and carries more than 20,000 tons of boulder detritus per year.Its drainage area is 24 square kilometres (9.3 sq mi), half of it covered by snow and glaciers. The falls carry up to 20,000 litres of water per second.After the hamlet of the same name on the valley floor the Trümmelbach feed into the Weisse Lütschine, which heads north through the valley and the village of Lauterbrunnen further down to join after 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) its sister river, the Schwarze Lütschine at Zweilütschinen, where they join to the Lütschine.

The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1931 were held 19–23 February in Mürren, Switzerland. These were the inaugural world championships for alpine skiing organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS), and consisted of downhill and slalom events for men and women.
