The Alameda Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) is an early college high school in Alameda, California, United States.

Alameda Island is an island located in the San Francisco Bay in California. It is south and west of, and adjacent to, Oakland, and across the bay eastward from San Francisco. Located on the island is most of the city of Alameda, a city in Alameda County. A very small western tip of the island's territory is technically part of San Francisco, however, this is uninhabited and is not separately managed. Once located on the island was the Naval Air Station Alameda, a defunct naval air station. The island was originally a peninsula and a part of Oakland and is now separated from the mainland by the Oakland Estuary. The island is connected to the mainland by six bridges: the Park Street Bridge, the Fruitvale Railroad Bridge, the Miller Sweeney Road Bridge, the High Street Bridge, the Bay Farm Island Bridge, and the Bayfarm Island Bicycle Draw Bridge. The Posey and Webster Street tubes also connect Oakland to Alameda Island.

The Posey and Webster Street Tubes are two parallel underwater tunnels connecting the cities of Oakland and Alameda, California, running beneath the Oakland Estuary. Both are immersed tubes, constructed by sinking precast concrete segments to a trench in the Estuary floor, then sealing them together to create a tunnel. The Posey Tube, completed in 1928, currently carries one-way (Oakland-bound) traffic under the Estuary, while the Webster Street Tube, completed in 1963, carries traffic from Oakland to Alameda. The Posey Tube is the second-oldest underwater vehicular tunnel in the US, preceded only by the Holland Tunnel. It is the oldest immersed tube vehicular tunnel in the world.

The Alameda Works Shipyard, in Alameda, California, United States, was one of the largest and best equipped shipyards in the country. The only building remaining from the yard is the Union Iron Works Powerhouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Island High School is a Mixed-sex education public high school serving grades 9-12. It is located in Alameda, California, United States, and is part of the Alameda Unified School District. Island High only admits students who are at least sixteen years old.

Woodstock is a neighborhood in Alameda in Alameda County, California. It lies at an elevation of 13 feet (4 m). It was one of the original three settlements on Alameda island out of which the city of Alameda was formed in 1853.

Alternative in Action High School (formally known as the Bay Area School of Enterprise) is a charter high school founded in 2001 in Alameda, California. It is the first youth-created charter high school in the United States. It was created by 10 youth and 2 adults working in the afterschool program HOME Project to create a school for non traditional students. BASE is a public charter school in the Alameda Unified School District. Entirely project-based, students participate in regular projects called "enterprises," including a major "enterprise" in humanities each year.

Alameda Naval Hospital was a large US Navy medical treatment facility in Alameda, California on 77-acre. The Naval Hospital opened in 1941 to service World War 2 troops and their families. The main building was 150,000 square feet with three stories. The hospital was maintained as a state-of-the-art hospital till it closed in 1975. The hospital was near to and supported Naval Air Station Alameda. Alameda Naval Hospital also had a dental unit that operated till closure. By 1960 the hospital was down-sized and used now as a depot to distributing medical supplies and equipment to Navy ships and nearby bases, as the hospital was next to the railroad and truck transportation terminals. Most Navy personnel in need of care were sent to Naval Hospital Oakland starting in 1960. In 1975 the hospital and dental unit closed and only the depot used the building, now called Navy Fleet Industrial Supply Center or Navy FISC Administration Building/Alameda FISC building. The closure of FISC on April 25, 1997 was per Base Realignment and Closure procedures ordered by the US Congress and the United States Department of Defense. The site was abandoned and a March 29, 2009 fire gutted the building and two nearby Army buildings. After the closure the building was used sometimes for urban assault training. Because the building was abandoned for many years it became an Urban legend site. The site of the Alameda Naval Hospital started as a 1930s Army Air Corp base called Benton Field, the land was turned over to the Navy in 1941 for the hospital. The Catellus Development Corporation had planned a development project on the property but canceled. In 2013 Vista Environmental, a hazmat team removed most of the building. on October 19, 2019 the city approved a development plan to use 17-acre of the former Naval Hospital land. Catellus Development Corporation has the right now to build on the land. The plan calls for 354 residences, include 30 single-family homes, 93 townhouses, 138 micro townhouses and 96 standard apartments. The new homes are called Bay37 by Pulte Homes.

West End (originally, Bowman's Point) is a neighborhood in Alameda in Alameda County, California. It lies at an elevation of 20 feet (6 m). It corresponds to the western end of the island prior to its extension by landfill. It was formerly a separate settlement from Alameda. The original name is in honor of Charles C. Bowman, an early settler.A post office operated at West End from 1877 (having been transferred from Encinal) to 1891.

The Croll Building, in Alameda, California, was the site of Croll's Gardens and Hotel, famous as training quarters for some of the greatest fighters in boxing history from 1883 to 1914. James J. Corbett, Bob Fitzsimmons, Jim Jefferies, Jack Johnson, and many other champions all stayed and trained here. Today this building is home to 1400 Bar & Grill. The stained glass, elaborate etched windows, and carved wooden bar remain as they were when Neptune Beach was a popular attraction. The second floor of the building is currently a residential hotel, with the third floor of the building being office space. The building is registered as California Historical Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NPS-82000960). It is located at the corner of Webster Street and Central Avenue. A large "Croll's" neon sign marks the location.

Heinold's First and Last Chance is a waterfront saloon opened by John (Johnny) M. Heinold in 1883 on Jack London Square in Oakland, California, United States. The name "First and Last Chance" refers to the time in which for many sailors, the pub was the first and last chance to drink alcohol heavily before or after a long voyage. Heinold's First and Last Chance is also known as "Jack London's Rendezvous", as it was the inspiration for scenes from the Oakland writer's novels Call of the Wild and The Sea Wolf.

The Jack London District, also called the Loft District, is a neighborhood of Oakland, California, USA, that occupies the region south of the Nimitz Freeway (Interstate 880) along The Embarcadero, between Adeline and Lake Merritt Channel. It includes and surrounds the Jack London Square shopping and tourist area, as well as the Warehouse District north of the Oakland Amtrak Station. The area has a long history of industrial and warehouse land use. Since the late 1990s, the area has seen residential redevelopment.
